About

GROUPLOVE IN CONCERT:

Grouplove's feel-good live shows make a strong case for a literal reading of the band's name. Featuring passionate performances, upbeat indie anthems, and audience participation, the band's shows are collective experiences that satisfy both musically and emotionally. Propelled by the group's accessible indie pop songwriting, 2013 sophomore album Spreading Rumors landed at No. 21 on the Billboard 2013, building excitement for their 2014 tour dates with supporting acts MS MR and Alex Winston.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Grouplove's formation reads like the plot of a '60s free love coming-of-age story. One week after making each others' acquaintance in New York's Lower East Side, vocalist Hannah Hooper and guitarist/vocalist Christian Zucconi left town for an artist retreat in Crete, where they met the band's three additional members Andrew Wessen, Ryan Rabin, and Sean Gadd. After performing their first show in LA in 2010, the band was invited on tour with Florence and the Machine, generating significant buzz in advance of their 2011 full-length debut Never Trust a Happy Song. On the ensuing international headlining tour, the band honed their performance skills and developed the sound heard on acclaimed 2013 follow-up album Spreading Rumors.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"From the opener to the encore, the entire experience was unforgettable. Grouplove puts on a great show. Very high-energy, and really engaged with the crowd. They know how to rock!"

"Grouplove played an amazing show. They had a great setlist and looked like they had so much fun doing it. Played a great encore with an unplugged version of "Cruel and Beautiful World..."

"They were amazing and energetic and crazy... it was completely contagious and you couldn't keep from bopping around with them! I had ears that they were just as awesome live as their CDs, and that is completely right."

Alt-J plays a great live show

by trianglesaremyfavorite on 10/10/12The Pageant - St Louis

Alt-J live is a raw and atmospheric experience. The album is an experimental, eclectic mix of music genres where the band is able to showcase their unique sound. Please go see them live and experience "something good".

Saw them last year when they opened for Young the Giant and was a little disappointed, but we really wanted to go to a concert. I was really surprised at how much they've improved and I had a ton of fun.

    Alt-J + Grouplove

by Rhytisma on 10/10/12The Pageant - St Louis

Immediately upon the drummer of Alt-J striking a beat I was moved. There was a sort of sexual energy to the rhythms behind the drums and the bass and an astounding harmonic connection between the whole band. The singers falsetto voice was akin to Mark Foster's voice, but not abrasive in any way. The keyboardist had a certain qualm to him, but gave surprise with his talents, including the xylophone. Grouplove was bright, poppy, and exciting. They opened with Itchin' on a photograph. This was expected because the clapping at the intro of the song is perfect to get the crowd instantly involved. The lead singer appeared to be mimicking the style of Kurt Cobain and I swear one of their songs had the exact same melody drawn from a Nirvana song. As a big Nirvana fan, I can say this pleased me rather than disappointed. All the other musicians were unique and brought a smile to my face. I only wished there had been more diversity in their performance. I felt that each song had a similar format of starting quiet and punchy, then hitting a hard, noisy climax where the female and male lead singers meet in the center of the stage to bang their heads. However, I didn't mind the repetition too much because I was busy dancing as well. There were only two songs where I wasn't whisked away with enjoyment and stood awkwardly awaiting for a more catchy tune. And to be completely honest: the only thing that soured my experience was the seemingly sophomoric crowd, which could of been a one time phenomena.

It was amazing, the view, the fresh air, the music, the drinks! I would've given it 5 stars, but it was too pricey for front row seats and although the seatings were organized, it would've been better to have a pit section.

    Alt-J needed more time

by Anonymous on 10/6/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las Vegas

I only went to this show to see the opening act, Alt-J. They did not dissapoint. There were only two things I would have changed: the did not play "Ms." and their merchandise graphics were a little too zombie chique. But the rest of their set was amazing. Did not stay for Group Love

by bjen2323 on 10/6/12Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Grouplove put on a great show. They had high energy and kept it up. My only complaint is with the Cosmopolitian for not draining the pool. We would have had been able to see the show better if they did.

by psurick75 on 7/9/12Webster hall - New York

Saw these guys on Jimmy Kimbel and they were even more polished and tight in person. Unbelievable chemistry and energy, hope to see them 7/23/12 in a private NYC concert. The opening band Reptar was great as well, the organ player was bouncing off the walls, watch out for both of these bands.

    GROUPLOVE was loud & awesome!

by LittleFreddie on 6/19/12Webster Hall - New York

The opening show was the band -Reptar- even though i hand't heard from them before I really liked them. The show was very well organized, I'd bought a last minute ticket throught the site and they had all my info available when I got there to pick 'em up. GROUPLOVE was amazing and full of energy. They played great and kept the crowd going all the time. I really enjoyed the show from beginning to end.

    Joyous

by TBCT on 6/15/12Webster Hall - New York

Infectious blend of west coast jangle and NY edge. Effortless harmonies, great tunes but never just plain poppy. This is a really talented band who all clearly love what they do and take the audience right along with them. See them if you can.

Grouplove keeps getting better and better!

by GLfanx1000 on 6/14/12Webster Hall - New York

I've seen Grouplove perform a few times and their show headlining Webster Hall was completely amazing. I love their songs on their CD but the show is much more than just a great band playing the songs--they are a fantastic band to see live. If you get the chance to see them, don't miss it.
