With over 25 years in comedy, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. It’s no wonder the New York Times wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.”
A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program.
Gulman has made four successful TV specials including his most recent critically acclaimed stand-up special for HBO, The Great Depresh, a tour de force look at mental illness, which is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. In 2019 he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He will next be seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the upcoming Hulu comedy series, Life & Beth, and is currently writing a memoir for Flatiron Books, tentatively titled K Through 12.

Gary was awesome! Funny, thought provoking, and used no foul language. He absolutely SLAYED the 3 obnoxious hecklers, one at a time. I love that he talks about his experience with depression and that he'll be writing a book soon. I'll be buying it, and will gladly pay to hear his comedy in person again!
Gary Gulman is rapidly becoming my favorite stand up comic. He was great for all 90 minutes. If you have a chance to see him, go!
Gary is smart, insightful and hilarious! His show was amazing!
The lighting on the stage and in the first rows of the audience was abysmal. Took forever to dim the lights on the audience despite Gary's repeated requests and then the lighting on him on the stage was so dim, making him appear partially shadowed.
Too long! More isn’t always better. Too much time to transition from joke to joke. Some parts were very funny, but others dragged. I appreciated his willingness to give us all the material, but a little editing would have gone a long way.
Great night of hilariousness!!! Gary was fantastic, handled hecklers like a pro. Gave us an excellent show that was worth every penny!
Gary is the best. He far exceeded the time allocated for his performance unlike the typical hour and fifteen other comics. He is a great comic. He is very engaged with audience and he has a great message. He is the real deal.
We saw Gary over a year ago when he was beginning his Great Depresh tour. That was both funny and moving. His current show is all new and very positive. He tells long winding stories that have lots of funny sidetracks, with original takes on many of life's smaller moments. And he does it all while being a "clean" performer and without tearing down anyone.
Gary Gulman was great-don't miss his show. He was on stage for almost two hours which is longer than any stand-up I've seen and he was funny all the way through. Haven't laughed so much since I saw Gary Shandling when he was first starting out. Gary Gulman is carrying the torch as one of the best stand ups working now and should not be missed. His observations on the mundane things is society are spot-on and really relatable. Don't pass up the opportunity to see him!
Was a last minute decision to attend, so wasn't sure what to expect. Sadly I really didn't find him very funny. Noticed several people leaving early like myself. Actually, the comedian before his performance was funnier.
Gary is smart and funny. To say he is an observational comic sells him short. He reveals deep secrets of his own life in a hilarious way that most of us can relate to. So his performance is touching and affirming as well as very funny. He captivates the audience throughout.
I could list a bunch of typical adjectives to describe Gary Gulman’s performance. But I won’t. I’ll just say this. He is well worth the cost of a ticket. Catch his show - you will not be disappointed.
Gary Gulman shared two hours with his audience. The performance was relaxed, thoughtful and honest. The honestly brings laughter and a constant smile for the entire evening. I genuinely feel lucky to have been in DC on February 1. How cool is that.
Gary Gulman was great! Super funny!! He did not disappoint! The loss of one star is because the upper level at the Warner Theater was unbearably hot! Thank goodness I had a tank top on under my sweater. Overall though it was a great time!
It seemed as though Gary Gulman was revealing his hysterical train of thought and we were along for the ride. He had us laughing for over two hours and then he waited in the lobby to greet anyone that was in line to meet him. It was an added perk to see someone who really loves what he does.
His voice is so original. It's like he vents out his anger via a sensitivity to and concern for protecting the weakest among us. It's a weird combination that works and yields brilliantly funny material.
One of the best comedic minds out there. Hysterical.
We definitely would see him again. He is hysterical!!!!
He was surprisingly not funny. We bought tickets after seeing his skit on state abbreviations which was hysterical but his performance at NJPAC was quite the opposite. It seemed he was testing new material on us to see if it was any good as he kept looking at his notes. I would not recommend seeing his live shows.
