With over 25 years in comedy, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. It’s no wonder the New York Times wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.”
A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program.
Gulman has made four successful TV specials including his most recent critically acclaimed stand-up special for HBO, The Great Depresh, a tour de force look at mental illness, which is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. In 2019 he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He will next be seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the upcoming Hulu comedy series, Life & Beth, and is currently writing a memoir for Flatiron Books, tentatively titled K Through 12.
Great show! Gary is SMART funny. Can’t wait to go to his next visit to South Florida.
Fantastic show! Great delivery and comedy that left us laughing for hours…off to get a copy of his book!
I’m sure he is good and has many people laughing, we just found it was not for us. We were disappointed and didn’t find the material relatable. Most of the set was about religion and literary references. Was not worth the money for us and we had driven from very far to be at this event.
Despite the "Artilyn"debacle, the show was amazing!
Gary Gulman is one of the best to do stand-up. I highly recommend this show or any Gary Gulman show, he is top tier in his craft.
Great Show, laughed throughout the show! Would go again.
Mr Gulman is hilarious and at 57 years old, so relatable. I feel sorry for the younger crowd if they don't have context for many of the jokes or the people who can't get the word play
Gary Gulman's comedy is so smart and funny!! I laughed the entire 1.5 hours and fell in love with him. Had to buy his book. Funny guy!!!
I’ve been a big fan of Gary Gulman for some time. He’s smart and funny, creative with his words. But the real secret to his is the honesty of his story.
One of the cleverest wordsmiths out there. His stream of consciousness style of wit is insightful, and hilarious. I've been a huge fan since first hearing his bit about the creation of the State abbreviations years ago, and never miss a chance to see him when he comes to Charleston... which is all to rarely, but thank God for Youtube!
Gary is a great comedian. It was a great show and seeing him perform live is fantastic!
Gary kept the crowd entertained from start to finish. His delivery is one of the best in the business. His stories touched home and I was laughing non-stop. Highly recommend to go see his show.
The show was quite good with a lot of relatable material for the over 40 crowd. It was a s bit slow to get going largely owing to the lackluster opener whose material hasn't changed in at least 4 years (last time I saw Gulman he had the same opener).
Gary Gulman is one of the ABSOLUTE BEST comedians out there! He is intelligent, clever, and quick-witted. He is a clean comedian. He often improvised during his show, interacted with the audience, and never resorted to the cheap laugh. He shared funny stories about his youth, growing up in a Jewish family, and laughed at his experience rather than making fun of others. It is important to note he did not merely re-tell stories from his book, as some others may be prone to do. After the show, Gary stuck around and spent a generous amount of time with each individual who wanted a personalized, autographed copy of his book "Misfit". He was down to earth, friendly, warm, and still funny! If you ever get the chance to catch a Gary Gulman show, do NOT miss your opportunity!
We see Gary every time he appears in Boston. His humor is intelligent, his delivery brilliant. This is a book tour, so all the material is new. (As an aside, I preordered his book, the audio version, and have been listening to it every day during my commute. Fantastic.) His act had some references to some material in the book, but the book is absolutely not his standup act. It's all separate material. There were a couple of uncomfortable moments - one when he called some audience members out for whispering. They were directly behind me, so I was kind of grateful, but it was just a little uncomfy. The other was when he scolded someone for using their phone - twice - and that person turned out to be a server taking orders with her lit-up order-taking gizmo. He was infinitely apologetic once he realized the error. All in all, a great show, as always.
Gary G is great at telling a story where you can't guess where he's gonna end up...Very funny.
Gary Gulman is a linguistic genius! He can take ordinary things, see them & present them in a way that brings on a whole new comedic perspective. TY!!! 💝🥰💝
Gary was funny from start to finish. He had complete command of his material as well as the audience. He wove story telling with great jokes and word play. He was also very gracious with his time staying afterwards for pictures and signing his new book. In summary, we had an amazing time & would absolutely see him again.
Great show. Gary applied his typical wit to all new material and I loved it. He was on stage for at least 90 minutes and signed autographs/posed for pics following. Good guy and a good show.
I'm so happy to have shared the wonderful experience of Gary's standup show with my sister and her beau. Gulman is relatable, tells stories to draw in his audience and we went there! So many laughs. It was a great evening. And opening act Emily R was a hoot.
