About

With over 25 years in comedy, Gary Gulman has established himself as an eminent performer and peerless writer. It’s no wonder the New York Times wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.”

A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant, and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program.

Gulman has made four successful TV specials including his most recent critically acclaimed stand-up special for HBO, The Great Depresh, a tour de force look at mental illness, which is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. In 2019 he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He will next be seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the upcoming Hulu comedy series, Life & Beth, and is currently writing a memoir for Flatiron Books, tentatively titled K Through 12.

    Gary Gulman Delivers Every Time!

by Ravi on 12/13/23Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

Gary Gulman has an unrivaled intelligence that shines through in his performance. Every time I see him I am amazed at how he is able to use language so effectively and transport the audience, this time to 1977. Can't wait to see him again!

A must see for stand up fans

Gary is so funny. He’s clearly very smart and tells great historical fiction stories. This show was all new material, and just hilarious!

    Great venue, poor food

by McRib on 12/4/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

The act (Gary Gulman) was fantastic as were the seats and venue. I have only two complaints. Number one, the time listed on the ticket (6:00 pm) was not the start time. That is the time the doors open and the show starts roughly an hour after that. We were not familiar with the venue so driving in from out of town we didn't know the show started later. I will chalk that up to being an us problem and not venue though. The second complaint, and the reason for a four-star review, would be focused on the food. I ordered the chicken tenders (yeah, real adventurous of me) and was shocked at how bad the chicken and fries were. They had a 'make it hot' option which is the whole reason I chose them in the first place. They were bland and barely spicy and the portion size was sad for a $16 (if I remember correctly) meal. Overall, it's a great place to take in a show, just maybe eat somewhere else beforehand.

Gary Gulman is a joy to watch. His comedy truly feels like a gift. He is an artist in the truest sense and I feel privileged to have been able to have seen him twice in Fort Lauderdale. Please keep coming back Gary! We need you.

    Not for us

by Phil on 10/23/23Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts - Indianapolis

I’m sure he is good and has many people laughing, we just found it was not for us. We were disappointed and didn’t find the material relatable. Most of the set was about religion and literary references. Was not worth the money for us and we had driven from very far to be at this event.

    Loved it

by Mike G on 10/16/23Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Mr Gulman is hilarious and at 57 years old, so relatable. I feel sorry for the younger crowd if they don't have context for many of the jokes or the people who can't get the word play

Smart and funny - a guy with a story to tell

by Walt on 10/10/23The Riviera Theater - Charleston

I’ve been a big fan of Gary Gulman for some time. He’s smart and funny, creative with his words. But the real secret to his is the honesty of his story.

    Laugh out loud

by BigJohn on 10/10/23The Riviera Theater - Charleston

One of the cleverest wordsmiths out there. His stream of consciousness style of wit is insightful, and hilarious. I've been a huge fan since first hearing his bit about the creation of the State abbreviations years ago, and never miss a chance to see him when he comes to Charleston... which is all to rarely, but thank God for Youtube!

    Solid Linguistics

by Jay on 10/2/23Neptune Theatre - Seattle

The show was quite good with a lot of relatable material for the over 40 crowd. It was a s bit slow to get going largely owing to the lackluster opener whose material hasn't changed in at least 4 years (last time I saw Gulman he had the same opener).
