Future Islands are a band whose brilliance was always hiding in plain sight. One viral moment might have catapulted them to worldwide recognition, but they were just doing what they always did - pouring their heart and soul into every moment, and channelling art's great power to spread love and hope. It was, quite simply, who they are. Long, hard years on the road, and the sense of constantly traveling away from something, have shaped the band many ways, both spiritually and physically. Always leaving, never arriving, the horizon an impossible destination to be chased but never caught. Future Islands' new album As Long As You Are is out now on 4AD.
What a show! The band is amazing, and sounds as good in person as their recordings. Samuel is simply fascinating to watch on stage, as he displays raw emotion, true passion, and dance moves that blow your mind and entertain you throughout. A+!!!
This was my 1st time seeing Future Islands live and they didn’t disappoint. Great energy and studio sound instrumentals!
I’ve waited 7 years to see these guys. I love their music and Sam’s vocal/ performing passion. I’ve bought so many tickets and never been able to go in the past! Well this weekend I followed them around California & Utah for 3 shows, & had my mind completely blown!!! Amazing and I’ll never forget it
Sam was his energetic self, as he has been every time I've seen Future Islands. The crowd was energetic and supportive and appreciated the show. The sound, however, left something to be desired. Sam was hard to hear sometimes and clarity was lacking. Was it the venue?
Not sure if this was a venue issue or something else, but all I was getting was muddled low end all night, rarely being able to make out lyrics, and top end notes not consistently. Sounded like being stuck at a traffic light next to a deaf teenager's thumping car stereo system--and the stereo system was not high end. Sam gave it his all, so still a good show. His voice was strong, and pierced through the muddy sound system here and there.

Future islands puts on a phenomenal show! Sam Herring is it extremely passionate and pours his heart into his performances. One of the best shows I've ever been to!
Love the venue. Love the band. The sound engineer should be questioned. Couldn’t hear anything. Bass was too loud. Singer was muffled. Normally this venue has excellent sound and I’ve seen Future Islands perform online and they sounded great. Real bummer.
Future Islands are a great band, love listening to them on a regular basis. Saw them in a nice venue in Missoula, which was much better. This venue does not have good acoustics, so this is a challenge for any band. Also, its an open floor standing venue, with a few chairs in balcony, which looked good, but when I emailed to inquire on those the costs was $550 for a 6 person upgrade, pretty steep. The security was very good and the outside patio good, except limited places to sit. Great venue idea, but needs some creative changes to be a good venue.
The Van Buren was a great venue. Seamless entry getting into the event and Future Islands put on an incredible show with great sound and incredible stage presence!
Love this intimate venue, the artists were in the music zone and flowing enthusiastically, with the beats all night! I would love to see them again.
Played a 90 min set and three songs for the encore. Sam is a genuine artist who never stops moving and shaking and kicking! He truly lays it out there for everyone to see and feel their songs. The sound was spot on as well, great venue.
Really impressed by the energy level of not just Sam, but the entire band. To play with that much effort, for that long, over 17 years! Amazing. Great show.
The venue was fantastic, we were in the balcony seats and yet it felt close. The band was amazing!
Future Islands can put on a show!!! No fluff, no props…just them…and it was phenomenal. ACL Moody doesn’t have any bad seats and the sounds is always perfect. I can’t wait to see them perform again.
They put on an absolutely amazing performance, even better than I imagined. One of my favorite shows I've seen.
I was introduced to the music of Future Islands 5 years ago and I’ve never looked back! When they came to Dallas with Modest Mouse - we were there for Future Islands! We weee in the pit and danced our asses off and made sure to school everyone around us who didn’t know about them! By the end, they were all in!! Can’t wait to see them again!
Not only the music would hit your soul but also Samuel's thearitical performance is magical... They can always get the best out of a crowd, and you really feel they are communicating with you. The experience was a lifetime memory, 100 times better than just listening to the albums on Spotify
They gave such a performance, I saw them few years ago and the were incredible and I think they were even better this time!
Both the band and audience were fired up. Great show
