About

TIM RICE and ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER's Tony Award®-winning musical returns at last!
Eva Perón used her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. Adored by her people as a champion for the poor, she became one of the most powerful women in the world — while her greed, outsized ambition and fragile health made her one of the most tragic. EVITA tells Eva's passionate and unforgettable true story, and features some of theater's most beautiful songs, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" and "High Flying, Adored." Don't miss the stunning new production of EVITA, directed by MICHAEL GRANDAGE and choreographed by ROB ASHFORD, that Channel 4 New York calls "THE HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN!"

  • Premium seats should mean premium Evita star

Josh Young who played Che was amazing. His voice is superb and much stronger than Mandy Patinkin's from the original Broadway production. One can really appreciate his fine vocal training. Sean MacLaughlin as Peron also did an exceptional job. Outstanding orchestra (16-piece or more.) There were four of us in premium seats in the center orchestra section. These are very, very expensive seats. Not all of the shows have premium seats. If we paid for premium seats, why were we not given Caroline Bowman as Evita?

  • Mesmerizing

Every moment of Evita delighted me. Mostly loved the dancing and music. I don't think I took a single breath while Krystina Alabado sang "Another Suitcase". It is in my heart forever.

  • EVITA was outstanding.

We very much enjoyed EVITA. The music and the acting were all great.

  • A glorious experience

I saw this on Broadway last year, but I liked the touring production MUCH better. The cast was incredible! Caroline Bowman exceeded my expectations after hearing Elena Roger on the recording. Josh Young was a fierce and likable Che. The supporting cast was just as good. However, I was disappointed that there is no Souvenir Program for this touring production.

  • It was a Sunday matinee -- the cast phoned it in

The production was adequate for a touring cast. The lead (Eva Pirrone?) did her best to handle a role that was slightly too big for her. The choreography was performed well by the dancers. Overall, it was interesting, but I could have been content with simply napping as well.

  • Lead singers are incredible

Although Andrew Lloyd Webber productions may be somewhat difficult to understand, you should go just to listen to the magnificent voices of the leads in this one. I cannot compliment them enough. We go to a lot of musicals and have rarely heard voices of this calibre.

  • Evita was a little flawed

    by orrn1951 on 10/1/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Understudy was in leading role. Some of her steps were noticeably "off " in some of her dance routines. Josh Young was amazing in the role of Che.

  • understudy

    by Geneva21 on 10/1/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Settings and staging were good, Josh Young was terrific and the understudy that we had ruined it totally. To have a bad "Evita" at incredibly expensive ticket prices was very upsetting.

  • Evita

by Nurture on 10/1/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The voices were very good; the direction was very different from the New York production which stayed truer to the personality of the characters. Eva, Juan and Che were cast as nice folks in this production......they were, in fact, among the most devious, rebellious who ever lived!

  • EVITA

by JAWORSKY on 10/1/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

COULD BE BETTER. THE LEAD COULD BE PRETTIER. MORE ACTION IS NEEDED.

Love the play Evita. I've seen it several times at different venues. The new production is very good. There are several changes in the staging that I didn't think were necessary but did not hurt the quality of the play.

  • Che is great!

by CeliaMartins on 10/1/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The whole play is great, but Che is really something!!!!

  • Fantastic performance!

by lublyubalet on 10/1/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The role of Evita was performed by an understudy, and that made me nervous, but she really nailed it. The entire show was phenomenal, I would highly recommend it!

  • Too much hype

by naness on 10/1/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

The singers were great but the play did not do justice to the story. Too dark. I left before the end.

  • This EVITA is FANTASTIC!

by DesPlainesDave on 9/30/13Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

After hearing mixed reviews about the Broadway revival cast with Ricky Martin & Elena Rogers, I was unsure how this production would be. I need not have, the leads in this touring company were fantastic! I saw the original Chicago company back in 1980 and this production was fresh, alive and had new insights to a story I thought I knew well. Bravo to the fresh blood in this company!

Musical is somewhat somber, but cast and performance is wonderful. Oriental theater is beautiful, convenient location, and most seats have excellent viewing.
