TIM RICE and ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER's Tony Award®-winning musical returns at last!
Eva Perón used her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. Adored by her people as a champion for the poor, she became one of the most powerful women in the world — while her greed, outsized ambition and fragile health made her one of the most tragic. EVITA tells Eva's passionate and unforgettable true story, and features some of theater's most beautiful songs, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" and "High Flying, Adored." Don't miss the stunning new production of EVITA, directed by MICHAEL GRANDAGE and choreographed by ROB ASHFORD, that Channel 4 New York calls "THE HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN!"
The music and choreography are enough to make me want to see this production again!
Strong voices, especially Che and Evita. I loved the tango dancing. Good staging, clever how Evita's lovers all went in one side of the door and quickly came out the other so the next one could come in.
Everything including the sceneryThe main chacters were idealy casted
Outstanding cast ! Brilliant performers. Highly recommend this to all .
A memorable show. I went on a Wednesday evening and Eva was played by one of the two understudies (Desi Oakley) and she was very good. Josh Young as Che was phenomenal. His voice was incredible and made the show spectacular for me. The entire cast was great and the show made a lasting impression. This was the fourth production of Evita I have seen over the years and it was the best for me (due to Josh Young's performance).
To fully show impact of the revolution one needed numbers; the cast was too small . The background newsreel did not add much instead it showed that something was missing; i.e numbers like Les Miserable had. This looked like a budget production. Eva Peron was inconsistent in her singing; most of the songs needed a true soprano
A few standout performances, but nothing showstopping
Haven't seen this play in quite a while and didn't know what to expect. It was fabulous! All of it--the acting, singing, dancing, music, and set were wonderful. Would highly recommend!
The production seemed very dated. Also the alternate Eva was in our show. The costumes did not seem to fit her properly and she was often winded. I did enjoy a few laughs but they were at inappropriate moments. Bottom line: it was more fun once I had a glass of wine.
Fantastic. The gentleman who played Che, Josh Young I believe, was unforgettable. The only downside, really, was that he was distractingly good. He so overshadowed Eva that it took away from my ability to enjoy her performance.
Evita was a great show. Josh Young who played Che was incredible. What a voice and vocal range!!!!
When you buy tickets to a show that just started, you should not have to watch an understudy of a key role. They billed the main star as someone else then once we got sat down they said the role would be played by someone else. That would have maybe been ok if she were good, but I thought her singing was pretty much horrible and it ruined a good deal of the show. I am now afraid to buy future show tickets because this is the 2nd time in the last 3 shows they pulled this trick. Wont be back for awhile.
Great time. Awesome singing and acting. Loved the narrator
Great music and great cast. I enjoyed how actual video footage was interwoven into the musical.
Show was flat, didn't create much empathy or understanding of Eva Nor did her role in the election of her husband come across strongly.
I thought the event did a good job telling me a story I was only faintly familiar. The staging and dancing was wonderful. The singers where great. I very much enjoyed a musical of which I had little prior knowledge. It was a good night.
Evita was the centerpiece to a fun night out with my girlfriends. Bookended by a lovely dinner at Fulton's before the show and drinks after the show, we had a blast! For a biographical musical, I thought the plot moved along nicely, though the play seemed to end rather abruptly and in a odd way - at least we all thought it did! I have only two real complaints, 1 - the woman who played Eva was the understudy and she strained terribly in the upper register and 2 - there was an usher that was unbelievably loud and tacky, screaming at people in the front of the auditorium that there were "no pictures on the inside" as he ran down the aisle from the back of the theater; at one point he actually screamed "Hey Lady, no pictures on the inside" at a woman in the front row.
If you saw the original 30 yrs ago this production could be disappointing. Dancing was great and voices were beautiful, But opening scene total let down, where was the funeral march the great steps the emotion oh on a big screen overhead. Didn't care for the crown scenes all canned shouting.I took a friend who never saw the show he thought it was great. Like I said if you'd seen the original you'd be disappointed. Makes me wonder if I should buy tickets to See" Phantom of the Opera" what will the skimp on.
The music, scenography, singers, dresses, everything is amazing
Wonderful music, good songs, amazing singers and great dancing! A perfect musical!
