Amazing cast. Great music, hilarious story line. Want to go again.
Evil Dead the musical is a blood curdling laugh. Imagine the most gruesome and corniest parts from Evil Dead all wrapped up into one. For those brave at heart sit in the splatter Zone definitely will get hit. This year's production was great the only complaint I will have if they need to work on their sound system. seems as if the Mike do not pick up the performers singing.
My purpose to go see a play is to relax, have fun, laugh, forget my problems, and be entertained. This Evil Dead cast delivered on ALL these points. After seeing the show the first time, I went home and bought tickets immediately to see it again on the last performance. I enjoyed it even more the second time around. The chemistry of the actors and their characters worked well together. For the entertainment value compared to ticket cost, I feel I got more then my moneys worth. I would recommend everyone in and near Detroit area should see the show once. I warn you, after you do you may find the desire to see it again and even plan for its return in 2019 (if the production comes back) I know I am. I feel like the City Theater is a great location to allow a audience interaction this play offers for affordable price in a theater. (NOTE: Due to language and some scenes of a mature nature this is not a “family” play for children. Adult audience only. I would recommend 18 years and up.)
Love, love, love this production!!!!! Our 4th year and it keeps getting better! Garett Michael Harris was AMAZING as Ash. The whole cast rocks! It’s a MUST SEE!
Funny. Well played, fun night out with family and friends.
Overall a really great experience. The cast was funny, talented and engaging, which made for a great time. This is the second time I have seen Evil Dead at City Theatre in Detroit. Hoping to see it again next year!
We had such a good time at this event. The theater was quaint, the show was hilarious and it was just a fun night out!
Evil Dead the Musical has become a Halloween tradition for myself and my friends! It's a wild, fun time that's part Rocky Horror Picture Show, part high school play. The sets and props are intentionally cheap, which is as much a part of the humor of the show as is the blood and gore. The low budget approach to the production is fully embraced by the cast, and becomes part of the show's charm. The songs are genuinely catchy, and the humor is wonderfully rude and gory. Be forewarned however; the warning about the audience "splatter zone" is no joke! The blood sprays are frequent and surprising (especially as the show progresses), and at times go beyond the first three rows of seats. Personally I love this aspect of the event, but if you're not prepared for it and are wearing nice clothes, you could be in for an unpleasant surprise. All-in-all, Evil Dead the Musical is a gleefully immature and (at times) gross Halloween activity, in an intimate venue perfect for drawing the audience right into the action. Highly recommended!
Expected more of a story line. It would have been equally entertaining if the cast would have just walked onto the stage, squirted the audience with the fake blood and then said, “thanks for coming”.
Good Show! Good Cast! Venue needs better sound system. and better line management before show.
The cast was on point. Set and props were creative. We laughed so much!
The show was campy and funny. The music was excellent. I loved the characters. Jake and Ash were portrayed very well. However the demon stole the show. I would definitely recommend going to the show every year.
Absolutely loved it!! Wonderful comedy and adaptation of the films!
Love this show! It is a family favorite! "WTF Was That?" Is forever a welcomed memory worm.
This is the first time I saw this musical, much funnier than I expected. I liked the sets and all the actors. Would see it again the next time it comes around. Still have a grin on my face.
The show was amazing. The actors were hilarious. If you’re into cult classics, it’s a must see.
Absolutely amazing. So much fun! Nonstop laughs and a very bloody good time.
Went to this show a couple years ago and took a friend to see it for his first time. We had a blast! The tunes are catchy and there's both an eye for detail (ex: The Hills Have Eyes poster in the cellar) and poke fun at themselves while being overall entertaining. The cast was real exuberant and have a lot of heart, which felt like a genuine love letter to the original movies. Definitely going again next year and will try roping a couple more friends into coming along!
If you like campy fun, go see this. I haven't laughed that much in a long time. We will look forward to seeing it again when it comes through.
From the ticket price, to the seats, to the charisma of the actors, everything tied together seamlessly to make for one amazing night!!
