    Evil Dead was F*cking Fun!

by JasonTheDude on 10/25/10The City Theatre - Detroit

I wasn't sure how the musical was going to be, but it was a blast! I recommend this to anyone that needs a fun night out. I would see it anytime of year, not just around Halloween.

I'm a middle age horror film junkie.....Great spoof in a already C movie....Alot of laughs and fun.... Once an awhile the cast sang off key, but when something is live that would be expected. If you like halloween, Rockiy Horror, comedy....go see it

    Do the Necronomicon!

by Badmojoe on 10/25/10The City Theatre - Detroit

This was great! Not only was this a great conversation starter amongst friends in the week prior but it was a great performance all around. Being a fan of the Evil Dead Trilogy, I loved this, though I think this would be fairly enjoyable to anyone who hasn't seen any of them. There were a few references to things Bruce Campbell related which it seems like most of the crowd got and there were other funny tie ins throughout. For someone who has seen the Evil Dead trilogy a few different times, I thought this was a nice change of pace and an out-of-the-box approach to performing live a relatively gore filled movie. The splatter zone also added a fun element to an otherwise typical performance. Telling a date to wear something she is comfortable getting fake blood on is another fun aspect of the night that I rarely get to say. With Theater Bizarre having moved to the Fillmore, you're not even out of your element walking around outside covered in fake blood. There were a few slip ups with props and such, which happens with many (almost all) live performances, but the cast handled it well and this was nothing to hold against them.

    Hilariously funny musical

by Chazdonna on 10/25/10The City Theatre - Detroit

While fans of the all the evil dead series, we were not sure how it would be as a musical. Well, it was great as our stomach hurt from laughing so much. Highly recommend it for the campiness and over the top drama. Note - not for under 17, very strong language.

    Evil dead was greeaaaaat!

by Twanmccoy on 10/19/10The City Theatre - Detroit

Not only was this show well written and hilarious, the actors were great also. The musical numbers were catchy, and the quotes from the films were great to hear. All in all I think this was the show of the year for me

Great production for fans new and old.

by Anonymous on 10/18/10The City Theatre - Detroit

Being a longtime fan of the Evil Dead series, I was very intrigued by a musical production of this popular story. I managed to talk a few people into going, some who knew about the Bruce Campbell movies and other (like my girlfriend) who had never even heard of it. I can tell you that after watching this live show, the only benefit to watching the movies is being able to recognize some of the quotes (Baby, you got real ugly and Shop smart, shop S-Mart). There was a splatter section which I very much recommended sitting in as it will help the experience to make you feel like the show is strictly being shown for you. The blood? the unneccesary amounts of gallons of blood are very neccessary for the off-the-wall humor. And the seating at the City theatre will make for a good show no matter where your sitting. They played this show the only way it could be played. Don't take it seriously, poke fun at yourself and how cheesey everything is, just like the movie did. This show was well worth seeing and I actually wouldn't mind seeing it again. Very entertaining, coming from a longtime fan and as for the new comers, they enjoyed it a lot more than I did. The show has a song and dance number with demon zombies and a talking moosehead. If that doesn't sell you go to see it then maybe the chainsaw fight scenes will.

    Evil Dead the Musical

by D3456 on 10/17/10The City Theatre - Detroit

The only positive comments I have are: I didn't get splashed, and the people watching was amusing. The show; however, was not entertaining in the least.

    Hilarious, and well preformed

by BruceC on 10/17/10The City Theatre - Detroit

Overall hysterical. The acting is surprisingly good (with some characters getting a little TOO into their roles). The voices will surprise you with their ability. The only downside is that it is somewhat low-budget, and most of the blood-splatter ends up coming out of ketchup bottles.

NEEDED MORE BLOOD FOR SPLATTER ZONE!

by Freakzodnut on 10/11/10The City Theatre - Detroit

The Musical itself was great! We give a bigs double thumbs up to all the actors etc.. The only thing we were really bummed about was for being in the 2nd row on the end in the so called "Splatter Zone" we DID NOT get splattered... Very disappointed with that part!! We paid extra for splatter zone tickets and left un-splattered. I suggest if seeing this Musical and you want to get splattered be seated near the left center FRONT area of the stage. If you are not setting in around that area you don't get much action on the blood it seemed. T-shirts were 25.00 for plain white Evil dead musical shirts (nothing fancy, more for splatter zone section).. Ponchos are kinda pointless especially if you are not setting right in front (unless you are weird and decided to set in splatter zone but didn't want to be splattered and you wana make sure you don't get splattered???) If you go just for the musical fun it was AWESOME!!!

    Hilarous, Updated, Bloody

by TG821 on 10/11/10The City Theatre - Detroit

Evil Dead the Musical is everything I wanted it to be and everything I could never even imagine. It was hilarious and had so many updated pop culture references to make it more current to today. It was fast moving, upbeat, and played on all the original characters major facets. It called out inaccuracies in the original movies which made it even more hilarious. I will be back to see this again.

    Humorous, entertaining, and great fun

by Tralvaz on 10/10/10The City Theatre - Detroit

Really well done campy version of the movie. The lyrics were funny, actors were great, and the entire show was a lot of fun. The splatter zone is there for a reason and it was a lot of fun.
