About

Erykah Badu, one of the world’s most revered singers, is widely credited as being the godmother of neo-soul. Badu’s blend of hip-hop swagger and smooth jazz draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, and has earned her a total of four Grammy nominations. Pitchfork described the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s 1997 debut album Baduizm as an “existential anchor of the neo-soul movement.” The triple-platinum album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and lead single “On & On” won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Badu’s enduring legacy was cemented on the road, where she has sung to sold-out crowds on multiple worldwide tours. The R&B legend has released five critically-acclaimed studio albums, and has been featured on hit songs by Busta Rhymes, Macy Gray and Janelle Monáe.

This was my first time experiencing Erykah Badu live. She did not disappoint! There was not a bad seat in the theater. And the host and hostess were very helpful

Great experience with the venue! Seating, staff 5 stars. Love Erykah, but felt cheated by the performance. It was really short…expected more for the cost.

by ShellyL on 11/5/24The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

My first experience seeing Ms. Badu. The show started late and ended earlier than I thought it should (not even 2 hours total) but it was amazing. She did not disappoint.

  • Loved it!

by Nne on 11/5/24The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

Erykah is absolutely amazing. She was good with time, the effects were all super dope, sound was awesome and she can really SANG. She's also a true performer. She engaged with the crowd, and even had someone come on stage! I would honestly go see her again and again. The venue was nice too, seat were comfy, and esthetic was really nice.

  • Great sound

by T Law on 11/5/24The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 4 out of 5

Badu and the band sounded great. The show started a little late, and ended a little early, and the energy between her and the audience wasn't where it needed to be.

  • Short but powerful

by Love on 11/5/24The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

The show was super short in comparison to when I’ve seen her before. It’s started late as I expected but ended way earlier than I thought. Always a good show.

  • Great venue and concert

by ABM on 11/4/24The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

1st time at the MGM and it was very comfortable and spacious. The sound was clear and full of bass. The screens and camera provided an awesome close up. The venue was easy to get in and out off even with the casino and crowd. One of the biggest highlights was the parking was free! Please don’t change that! Erykah was amazing and it was my first seeing her as well. The band and back ground singers were amazing. Erykah was her authentic self and did not disappoint in the slightest. I wanted more! I will definitely visit the venue again for another concert.

  • Erykah Badu is amazing@ MGM National Harbor

by AC on 11/4/24The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

Erykah Badu started her show about 15 minutes after the scheduled start time (was not an issue for me at all). From start to finish, her voice sounded just as it does on the radio. Erykah was very interactive with the audience, she had no issues with photos being taken, and appears to be extremely down to earth. Most of her songs were song almost completely through and her unique style and disposition made the performance even more impressive. I would definitely recommend going to see Erykah Badu live.

  • Just Ok

by Ticket value not worth it on 11/4/24The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 1 out of 5

She started about 45 mins late ( no dj, no opener, just a blank stage). Then just ended like 6 songs later and said bye. Not worth it at all. Would not buy a ticket to see her again. Don't recommend. Just vibe out at home to her music and save your money.

  • Excellent

by Debbie on 10/8/24YS Firehouse - Yellow SpringsRating: 5 out of 5

It was the best show in my 59 years, hands down!!!

  • Misleading

by Kelvin and Yova on 9/20/24Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 2 out of 5

As a fan of Erykah, I was excited to see her perform. To my surprise , this wasn’t her show. I understood that this was a tribute to the late Shaun Martin. The event titled that it was a Badu tribute to Mr Martin. This wasn’t so. A lot Badu fans got the whole church vibes.. We wasn’t happy and a lot of us left early. We were deceived!! Erykah image was used to sell tickets. She performed 3 songs, and left. Not the vibes her fans were looking for. The church choir, and prayer.

  • I missed it

by Kayjaxn on 9/20/24Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I can tell from pictures and comments on Social media this was a great concert. I unfortunately missed it. I comfort myself by the fact that I purchased a ticket to support the legacy and family of Shaun Martin
