Erykah Badu, one of the world’s most revered singers, is widely credited as being the godmother of neo-soul. Badu’s blend of hip-hop swagger and smooth jazz draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, and has earned her a total of four Grammy nominations. Pitchfork described the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s 1997 debut album Baduizm as an “existential anchor of the neo-soul movement.” The triple-platinum album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and lead single “On & On” won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Badu’s enduring legacy was cemented on the road, where she has sung to sold-out crowds on multiple worldwide tours. The R&B legend has released five critically-acclaimed studio albums, and has been featured on hit songs by Busta Rhymes, Macy Gray and Janelle Monáe.

Erykah was great as always and put on an excellent show. I definitely got my moneys worth.
Badu's show was off the hook. She gives her all. I would gladly go to another badu concert because i know that i'll always get my money's worth. she has a carefree beautiful and genuine spirit and knows what the people want and boy did we get it that night. not disappointed at all.
The show just had too much electronica sound and she really sucks as a rapper! She should stick to what works best for her, hard edged R&B and Neo-Soul or just plain soul music! Had I known this is what she was gonna pull outta her bag, I wouldn't have attended this show! But on a happier note, my two daughters said they enjoyed the show, but they like everything that sucks to me.
People, if you've never seen Erykah Badu perform, you're most definitely missing out!!! The energy she brings and her creativity of making beats while on stage making the whole house rock was phenominal!!!! She came to Chene Park on August 7, 2009 and when I tell she had the whole house up on their feet for the entire concert, taking us back to the old school with joints like NWA, Whodini, Afrika Bambata, Snoop.....She is just amazing, and nothing short of that!!! She rocked the house till after midnight and I'm here to tell you, this being my first time seeing here in person, I'll most definitely be at her next show, no doubt!!! Don't sleep on Badu, she is that deal!!!! Thanks for such a great show. I'm sold......
E Badu's performance was unbelievable. A lot of people sleep on her but she gives a great show this was my 3rd time seeing Erykah and I was screaming like it was my first. I took my girlfriend and this was her first time seeing E and now she wants to go buy all her cd's.
Erykah is back at it again. I enjoyed the show and I am looking forward to her next CD.
Ok, after seeing her for the first time last night I am more convinced than ever that this woman is a one of the greatest artists of our generation in any genre/medium. Her records are musical landmarks and the stage show was one of the best I've seen in this great City.
unbelievable concert, voice sounded great, she remixed her music, great stage presence
Erykah Badu gave a wonderful show. It was like watching an old friend get on stage and sing! She was so comfortable and her voice was fabulous!! I would advise anyone who wants to here some good music and an interactive show to see her live and in rare form! The bad part of the concert had nothing to do with Erykah Badu. Chene Park needs to upgrade. The seats are entirely too close together, and there was no credit card machine to buy drinks. We were in row G,seven rows from the stage. There was no reason for us to be uncomfortable. The best moment was when Erykah invited people on the stage from the crowd! There was a young man who was not dressed well, and the security guard tried to kick him off the stage. Miss Badu says "This brother is OK, Come as you are" ! I thought that showed so much class! She didn't want any of her fans to feel left out!
Erykah is an awesome performer. Whenever she comes to town (or nearby) I will be there. You should be there too.
Miss Badu partied over 2 hours with us in the "D" as she called it. The crowd jumped and fell right in line with her. After 1 1/2 hours on stage Ms Badu left the stage but Detroit wouldn't let her leave and emplored her to come back. Not only did she come back but stayed another 20 minutes even coming out into the crowd to soak up some of the love. It was a night that if you were there you won't soon forget, go on Miss Badu!!! And thank you for a top notch show.
I would have said five stars if there werent so many sound/ technical problems! Good thing the talent was incredible because backstage wasnt
E Badu brung the house down! I dont recall anyone sitting down for the two plus hours that she performed. She banged!
Great venue at Chene Park. It's the first time I've seen Erykah and she is a true performer! I loved the show!! She was absolutely amazing. I'd go back and see her every time she's in the Detroit area.
Erykah Badu performed superbly! Her sultry voice, masterful movements, and lyrics brought us all 'Way Back'.
I've been a fan of Badu since the first album...I honestly must say that the show exceeded my expectations.. i thought it was going to be a slow/R&B type of concert...instead the band and Erykah had everyone dancing the entire time to her greatest hits as well as some classic songs done Erykah Badu style. Overall good concert and would recommend it, when the show comes to your town.............
i have a new experience every time i hear badu. its as new and fresh as the first time i heard her. and hearing it live was life changing. i lovveeee you baduuuu!
This is the second time I was blessed to have seen Erykah Badu live. She is so beautiful inside which just shines through when she performs her poetry. The most amazing thing about her is that she sounds so great live. Sometimes when you see someone perform live, without the studio smoothing out the imperfections, his or her voice is not maybe as great as you may have thought. Erykah is quite the opposite - her voice sounds just as good, if not better, live. I love watching her change and evolve as the years go by; but even as she changes, she still takes with her the old hits because that is still a big part of her too.
Wonderful show . It started late but Erykah Badu performance made up for it
The show was remarkable! Erykah Badu is straight hip hop with a touch of soul. She knows how to keep her fans entertained and she is AWESOME with the live band. Hands down, it was one of the greatest nights of my 2009. She was well worth the money and more, she is a wonderful woman and if you are a fan like I am you will not be disappointed. She sang songs from every album and ven did a few dance moves. LOL
