Erykah Badu, one of the world’s most revered singers, is widely credited as being the godmother of neo-soul. Badu’s blend of hip-hop swagger and smooth jazz draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, and has earned her a total of four Grammy nominations. Pitchfork described the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s 1997 debut album Baduizm as an “existential anchor of the neo-soul movement.” The triple-platinum album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and lead single “On & On” won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Badu’s enduring legacy was cemented on the road, where she has sung to sold-out crowds on multiple worldwide tours. The R&B legend has released five critically-acclaimed studio albums, and has been featured on hit songs by Busta Rhymes, Macy Gray and Janelle Monáe.

Loved the show - Erykah was great. Must see her perform live!
I've seen Miss Badu 5 times now and it's always amazing and always a little different. She was on fire at this show starting with her entrance outfit - crazy blinged out sunglasses over a fitted silver leather cap, and a brightly colored kimono. About four songs in she dropped the kimono and was wearing an amazing dress that looked like Alexander McQueen. Her voice and her band were in top form and she was even goofing about after she almost spilled her tea on her laptop because the cap wasn't screwed on properly. She did this old school hip hop medley infused with her own song and keep asking the audience "should I take you waaaay back?" before she busted into some Biggie or NWA. I never heard her do this number before and it brought down the house. She is a consumate performer and I eagerly await each show - not to be missed.
The show was awesome, went with my girl and had a blast. However, the venue and staff at Club Nokia were the worst. I'm talking about 2 bartenders for over 100 people in line. Not Cool!!! Then the seats are so small any time some one wants to get up you have the whole row standing up. PLace is really booty. Do not support venues like this.
I always knew she was a great performer to go along with her classic music. But wow, she everything and more I thought she was going to be. Of course she was late, but thats typical Badu. Whenever she is in town I will be there!
I love Erykah! She was incredible as always. Not a bad seat in the house at Humphreys. Erykah is one of the few artists that sounds as spectacular live as she does recorded! Peace and love.
I am a big, big fan- love Erykah- AMAZING!!!!! No opening act and show didn't start til almost 10 when doors opened at 8- hello- DIVA- making me wait for two hours- artists gotta bring it on-time on my clock!
The energy and vibe from the fans alone was awesome, when the band started to play it just set the tone perfectly so when Ms.Badu entered the stage she enchanted each soul in the room with her beats, lyrics & voice! Oh and I can't forget to mention that booty that she worked to the beat!! haha
The venue and concert were great but it didn't start until 10pm.
arrived at 7:30 ready to see a legend, however the doors did not open until 9:30 for a concert that was suppose to start at 8:00! But, what is really bad is the the performance did not start until appx 10:45.... Sadly her music was hit and miss as it seemed that Erykah was attempting to appeal to as new crowd. If I had known that she was now into or attempting to be a space cadet, I would have "not" wasted my time.
The only disappointment was how late the concert started--probably 90+ minutes after the scheduled start time. Once it got going, we had a phenomenal time! I do wish she sang the hit song - Honey - off her latest album, though.
Amazing performance by EB & band. I've seen her many times and Erykah brings it like nobody's business! Great venue as well. I't nice to see artists in smaller, intimate venues. The bar was a bit pricey. I'm not a big fan of paying $10/Beer, yes, one freakin' beer!
Erykah Badu is finding her voice, away from the division, the self-involvement, and the adolescence of her career. She appeared poised, self-assured and aware, and mature. Both in person and in talent. Even with the botched mock tea ceremony she maintained. Her discussion of self and the change in her body during the show was a more revealing Erykah than that of former days. Her voice was strong throughout, including the stroll down the corridors of Rap history with the utterances of "Going back. Going way back" as the trip was taken. Some of the stage display was classic Erykah including the garb, (See designer silver swim cap for further elaboration). The evening ended with Badu giving a throwback dance/stage show replete with classic Garland-esque costuming in her final ballad. Simply put, it was a great show.
There's a reason I've seen Erykah 3 times. She's the best.
Umm...amazing. Pretty much sums this up. I had seen Ms Badu at the Warfield before, as part of the block party tour with Dave Chappelle. I was amazed by her but left the show wanting more, as she had just performed a 20-30 minute set. The show my wife and I were blessed to see was almost 2 hours of incredible music. Her band is phenomenal and she captivates, educates and wows. If you ever get the chance to see her, shell out the money because it could very well be the best money you will spend all year.
The Erykah Badu concert was fabulous, to say the least. I was not impressed with the Humphreys rooms, a little midevil times looking to me, but they are in the process of remodeling all of their rooms. All in all the concert and the grounds were beautiful.
Erykah Badu continues to reinvent herself! And once again proving that she is a genius with great talent and lots of style! And it lasted for over two hours straight, which was after her opening act! Fabulous concert!!
Erykah ROCKED THE HOUSE! She never disappoints, sang all the favorites and old school tunes... PHENOMENAL WOMAN and PERFORMER!
Erykah and crew gave a great performance. There were two sets, both with a distinct flavor and tone, both meant to entertain and engage the audience.
Erykah delivered an incredible performance. She is a true entertainer. Humphreys is a bit regulated for my taste, but Erykah made up for it! Her show was full of diverse songs and skits. Her band and back up singers are really talented and complement her well.
She was outstanding! She is one of the best performers in the music world today.
