About

Erykah Badu, one of the world’s most revered singers, is widely credited as being the godmother of neo-soul. Badu’s blend of hip-hop swagger and smooth jazz draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, and has earned her a total of four Grammy nominations. Pitchfork described the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s 1997 debut album Baduizm as an “existential anchor of the neo-soul movement.” The triple-platinum album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and lead single “On & On” won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Badu’s enduring legacy was cemented on the road, where she has sung to sold-out crowds on multiple worldwide tours. The R&B legend has released five critically-acclaimed studio albums, and has been featured on hit songs by Busta Rhymes, Macy Gray and Janelle Monáe.

Transcendent night of the most iconic album by Erykah Badu. This was worth every single penny.

  • Great, but late!

by Shea on 11/26/25Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Erykah had a great performance. BUT she was super late! It started 2 hours late! I ended up leaving after an hour and 20 minutes into the show because I was tired. I feel like if the artist isn’t going to come on for at least 45 mins - an hour after the show starts, they need to have a headliner. Having a DJ isn’t enough to keep the crowd going. It look so long to start, that some of the songs were being replayed.

Although, Ms. Badu was late arriving on stage on Sunday November 23rd, 2025. The performance going forward was simply OUTSTANDING. The CobbEnergy Center, it's parking attendants security, ticket scanners, ushers, concessions, bars and rest rooms. Everything was 💯🔥. Way to handle a SOLD OUT event such as Ms. BADU. Keep up the Good work 👍🏾 CobbEnergy. Keep sitting the BAR

I greatly enjoyed Erykah’s concert. Her voice is so beautiful and angelic. The band and backup singers are fire! We had floor seats which were a little tight and cozy.

  • Badu!

by JB on 11/25/25Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Ms E Badu is an experience to be sure. Love her stage presence and of course the music. The band was tight, lights and sound were on point. Didn't Cha Know...it was all good.

  • LATE!!!!!!

by Momma Mia on 11/25/25The Andrew J Brady Music Center - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

First off she was an hour and a half late. She is an amazing singer and very entertaining which is great but how do you perform in person and not sing one of your greatest hits TYRONE!!!!!!! That was very disappointing. Other than that it was nice.

  • Mixed bag: Great performer but egregiously late

by Tam on 11/24/25Rating: 2 out of 5

This is a difficult review to write because it’s two-fold. In terms of actual performance, Erykah is at the top of the game. Her music—especially Mama’s Gun’ which is the album she performed at this concert—is absolute genius: powerful, inspiring, self-affirming, thought-provoking, and soothing to the ear and soul. But to get to experience that, you apparently have to wait two plus hours. That’s what happened at this show. We waited over TWO hours for this artist to come on stage! No opening act. Barely a DJ, just someone playing random songs, zero audience engagement. There was no one who even acknowledged the audience , much less give an explanation for the ridiculously long wait. I’ve been to concerts that start late before, but never where there’s literally no acknowledgement of the lateness. The background singers came out and stalled thirty more minutes and pretended not to hear the frustrated crowd yell for the star to take the stage. They just played through until voila, there she was. I heard the ushers say she wasn’t expected to take the stage until 9 which means she pre-planned to be at least an hour late from jump. This leads me to believe her not showing up until two and half hours late was also pre-planned. That kind of disrespect for supporters is unacceptable to me. I will always love and respect Erykah’s music, but I’m pretty sure I will NEVER spend my money to see her perform again. Respect is a two-way street. Just as the supporters respect the artist’s talent and are willing to extend some grace when necessary, the artist has to respect the supporters’ time and money.

  • Start the Sunday Atlanta show please!

by Disappointed fan on 11/23/25Rating: 1 out of 5

We are still waiting , it’s been 2 hours!! Ridiculous! I love some Badu, but this is crazy. I guess time means nothing.

  • Fabulous

by Daj on 11/23/25Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

The Fox Theater is a Great venue, not 1 bad seat in the place. Erykah Badu was 1-1/2 hrs late coming on stage but when she did she didn't disappoint. Her entrance on the stage was Wonderful with all the lighting and special effects, Ms. Badu's voice was Terrific the way she hit those high notes. Her stage presence is Fabulous the way she interacted with the audience was like just hanging with your bestie. She definitely gave her audience the type of performance that said thank you, I appreciate you, without her actually saying but don't get me wrong she verbally thanked us many times, she even sang TYRONE for us. Would I go see Erykah Badu again? Would I recommend seeing her in concert? A thousand times YES!!!

  • Amazing, but why the waiting?

by Househead on 11/23/25Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Erykah was amazing as always, but why the hour and 20 minute wait for you to come out!!! Have an opening act with you, that’s all!!

  • Sad

  • True Erykah!

by Karen T on 11/23/25Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

In true Erykah fashion, the show started an hour and a half late. Thanks to the amazing DJ the wait was unnoticeable. I have to say the audio visuals were amazing. Erykah gave a great performance. I would have loved to hear a few more older selections included but the audience definitely enjoyed the show.
