About

Australian electro-pop duo Empire of the Sun possess a well-proven ability to entertain. Known for their epic performances chock-full of production value and artistic flare, the band treated fans to one of the most exciting and synergistic concert experiences of the 2013 summer festival circuit. Accompanied on stage by a troupe of costumed dancers and state-of-the-art visuals, Empire of the Sun wowed ticket holders across the US and Europe with their energetic sets of danceable hits like "Alive" from 2013's Ice on the Dune.

Empire of the Sun began as the side project of musicians Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of Pnau.  With the success of their 2008 debut album Walking on a Dream, the project became a focal point for the duo, resulting in their first live performances as a band in 2009. In 2013, their sophomore album Ice on the Dune reached No. 3 in Australia and No. 20 on the US Billboard 200, with lead single "Alive" receiving the remix treatment by some of the world's top DJs including David Guetta, Zedd and DJ Tiesto. With their electrifying performance style, adrenalized synths, and electro beats, the duo is not afraid to push the limits of showmanship, leaving fans eager for their 2014 performances.

    Empire of the What Now...

by NeverMindSense on 8/9/10Terminal 5 - New York

I have been anticipating Empire of the Sun's North American debut since I heard their album back in 2008 and unfortunately I do not r think they brought their A-game to that show. There was tons of flash and even bootleg Lady Gagas dancing across the stage, but even that was not enough to keep me there for the whole set. The dancing was not tight, the lead singer could have pretended to play guitar a LITTLE better and the DJ in the beginning was just not my cup of tea. The show was for a young crowd whose attention span could not possibly allow them to pay attention to details. I'm sorry BUT you don't make a North AMerican debut in the US, particularly New York CIty, and not come with the BEST. As much as it pains me to say this show was no more than average.

Empire of the sun only played for an hour

by plaxcio on 8/9/10Terminal 5 - New York

Empire of the Sun has great art direction and provides an excellent visual as well as auditory experience but they only played for about an hour so it didn't really feel like a full show.

    Incredible show

    by Fonz858 on 8/9/10Terminal 5 - New York

This show was truly amazing. The band music was true to the CD yet they improved every song for better live attitude. The whole show was much more than what other concerts end up being (just a couple of guys playing instruments). Empire of the sun takes you to a different universe.

I loved seeing Empire Of The Sun, they really know how to throw a show, from the dancers, to the trippy background, and the singer, everything was really amazing. I would recommend this to anyone even people who do not even like this genre. They are amazing and hopefully will make it big soon.

    otherworldy show experience!

by baffledgrl on 8/9/10Terminal 5 - New York

Empire of the sun really went over the top for you in this show. Bright colors, colorful costumes, costume change for the dancers every song... empire didn't just put on your standard show, they put on an epic performance that you will never forget! The only thing is they took FOREVER to get on stage! they didn't perform until 10:15pm! And the show was short, only an hour. But what do you expect? They only have on album thus far. =)

amazing visuals, great display of creativity and theatrical motion. loved the costumes and set design. loved the songs. would have liked to see Nick onstage as well. and a fuller band perhaps, less tracks and more musicians. but overall LOVED IT!

Wait and Confusion was worth it~!

by lexig on 8/9/10Terminal 5 - New York

Terminal 5 is one of the most unorganized venus I've been to. No one knows where the front of the line is, the mobs of people cutting the line! UGH Horrible!! But once I got in there it was amazing! The opening act DJ set was great, but I am nit sure why there was a lady in a gold swim was just sitting on the stage. Empire wassssssssssssssssss so awing. They had so much energy and interacted with the crowd. omg Best show of the summer!!

great energy. amazing costumes and production. the venue was absolutely fantastic - good sound and enough space to feel comfortable but still in a big crowd. it was totally worth the 3hr30mins trip that we had to take to nyc to see them.

They had a great appearance on stage, the lights, the dancing, everything was perfect. The only thing stopping them from five stars is their inability to get much of a reaction from the crowd.

by Longtimelistener on 8/9/10Terminal 5 - New York

If you get a chance to see these guys, then take it. Their live show is an awesome spectacle fronted by a natural showman, and complemented by brilliant songs. One of the best shows I've seen in NYC.
