The venue is terrible but the band was great. Overall, great concert but the sound could have been way better.

About
DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS IN CONCERT:
Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers have a penchant for tradition, recording their studio albums in analog and insisting on releasing their records on vinyl. The band's traditional approach extends to their beloved live concerts, where craft and musicianship take center stage and marathon sets are the norm. The Truckers may orbit just under the mainstream's radar, but their devoted followers wouldn't have it any other way — as one of the best-kept secrets in music, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their intimate 2014 tour dates in support of English Oceans, their tenth studio album.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1996, the Drive-By Truckers' path to success was slow but steady, aided by a grassroots online presence and their constant touring. Following the release of their first two albums Gangstabilly (1998) and Pizza Deliverance (1999), the band embarked on their first US tour, further added to their reputation as consummate performers with electrifying live sets. 2005's The Dirty South marked the band's first appearance on the Billboard 200, which the band has steadily climbed with each subsequent release. Following the release of their tenth studio album English Oceans in 2014, the band will hit the road for another rollicking tour.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Once again DBT do not disappoint. This is a band that puts out excellent albums, and a rare occurrence where they are even better live."
"I have seen DBT 30+ times and they always make me look around for the next show! I love their energy and how they play off each other! I have never been to a bad show and this one was no different."
"As always, DBT kept me smiling and singing. Hood and Cooley took turns telling us our favorite yarns, up close and personal."

Hell No I Ain't Happy
by TK1956 on 11/2/10The National - RichmondRating: 1 out of 5I have been a DBT fan for a number of years. This was the second time that I have traveled to an out of town venue to see them. Both times were disappointing. They didn't play the songs that I consider to be crowd favorites either time. It's like going to a football game and the second string plays. They won't get the price of admission from me again.
Drive By Truckers rocked Richmond
by surr3nder on 11/1/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5I drove from New Jersey to see Drive By Truckers play at The National in Richmond. It was one of the best concerts I've seen in years. They sounded awesome and put on a hell of a show. The venue was cool as well. The staff were friendly and the layout of the theater was great. I'm only 5'2" and I had no problem seeing even standing in the crowd because the floor is sloped. I'd definitely make the trip to Richmond to see DBT again.
DBT rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by floormat57 on 11/1/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5Both nights were amazing shows. It's impossible to say which night was better. If you

Richmond On the Way In
by meandaddy on 11/1/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5This is a superb venue to see a band in. I have talked to people as far as Baltimore and Washington D.C. who know of this venue and say its lovely. Bobby Bare, I didin't even know before the show, but the band was great and reflected this "new" strain of music....its Country Rock...not to be confused with the old Country Rock. Of course D.B.T. were amazing! Nice visual stuff, too! Later in the weekend, I ventured to D.C....and noted almost immediately the difference in the two attitudes. On the one hand you have D.C., which is getting more and more played out. On the other, Richmond, where there is a new scene with new people, fresh ideas and new music. There is no comparison in the two. One is a place on the way out, Richmond on the other hand is on the way in. Somebody in back was "freaking out" just like somebody in church speaking in tongues. Scary...but nice! Balcony (it used to be a vaudeville theatre) reminded me of old days where you had the option of sitting down during a show, and energy that used to exist in rock and roll, but is now on the wane. These country rockers are bringing it back!
Way too loud
by soonerfantastic on 11/1/10The National - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5This concert could have been great, but it was WAY TOO LOUD!!! I couldn't hear myself think. It was so loud the entire thing sounded distorted and was very unpleasant as a result. Bobby Bare was really good and was about the right level of volume. Did not care for the Drive By Truckers at all.
Drive By Truckers were off their game
by RichmondFan200 on 11/1/10The National - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5I've seen DBT many times before and they were off their game this time around. Their show lacked enthusiasm and excitment. Normally, the house is rocking along, singing, dancing, etc. but not this time. We left early. I was very disappointed.
Main Act Great -- Opener needs a sound man
by Arsea on 11/1/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5DBT were fantastic as I've come to expect. They played a great set and a nice encore. Couldn't ask for much more. However, compared to a two day stint in Charlottesville, VA, they did seem a bit subdued and slightly less energetic. Mike Cooley was almost melancholy or perhaps distracted during much of the show. Still, the whole band gave a great performance and I will see them again and again and again.
Drive By Truckers are a must-see!
by DWhang on 10/31/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5If you've never seen the Drive By Truckers and you like only a few songs - check them out. They are an exciting live act and do not disappoint. You'll discover older songs of theirs that are just as good if not better than the music they put out now. They play a solid show with a nice mix of old and new favorites. Just when you think they are done playing - they play more. Nice long encores too. No 2 or 3 songs, but sometimes another 45 minutes or so. This band is phenomenal. The National in Richmond is a great venue as well. Not a bad spot in the place. Seating upstairs if you don't want to stand, but plenty of standing room down in front of the stage as well.
drive by truckers rocked
by suntzu on 10/12/10Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Awesome show at the newly restored Buckhead theater! Best set list ever!!!
Drive By Truckers
by Musicflyer9 on 10/11/10Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5DBT's performance was amazing. I do have to say the SOUND was less then perfect in the Buckhead Theatre. It was difficult at time to even make out what a band member saying in between songs. Outside of that the night was awesome!

Great show. The energy in Buckhead Theatre was high and the band rocked it out! What an encore!

good show. venue was really nice, but not necessarily fitting for DBT's.
Drive-By Truckers better in studio
by jaxies on 10/11/10Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5All are gifted performers, but the music was very loud and improperly balanced and for me difficult to enjoy. Musicianship somewhat lacking as well.
DBT was a great show!
by DD81 on 10/11/10Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5Loved the show, played some great songs! Sound was a little off, instruments much louder than vocals. Female voice barely discernable at all. Great time to take a bathroom break.
DBT is LEGENDARY!!!
by Anonymous on 10/11/10Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5The show was awesome. DBT continues to reign as the top southern rock band & the best live band in America.
