Fantastic show! Great for all ages! Loved the Grinch! A.must-see for the Christmas season.
overall disappointing
by Grinchinme on 12/4/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5I went with high hopes since I love the animated movie but unfortunately the show was very disappointing. The music at the beginning of the show was alarmingly bad including the screeching voices of the Who children - it literally hurt my ears. Cindy Lou was ok but all of the male voices seemed to sound alike. It was hard to differentiate who was singing. I also didn't get the old dog...an invisible narrator would have been better. I heard a few very small children (under 5 years old) giggle but the adults did not seem equally impressed. Unfortunately it was the worst show I have ever seen at the Fox.

Fabulous and engaging. Loved it. The only problem was that it started almost 1/2 hour late!

Great For All Ages
by JCBSTEWART on 12/3/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5I am in my 20's and thought it was funny and very entertaining. I would recommend it for those of all ages! There was enough going on to keep kids entertain, while at the same time having subtle adult humor. Good for families! I thought it was great
Awesome Show!

First Time
by piggy12 on 12/3/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5Tonight was different than most nights I have had at the theater. Some things were similar: great seats (7th row center) due to a friend, beautiful theater (Hippodrome in Baltimore), and we were dressed up (more than most people). My date tonight was Ava. It was her first "show" on the stage. Taking a three-and-a-half year old to the theater is skating on thin ice to begin with, but taking Ava -- who is afraid of Santa Claus, doesn't like to dress up at Halloween or trick-or-treat regardless of the candy because of the scary costumes, gets freaked-out at any sign of a character in costume (those poor Maryland crabs around here don't stand a chance with her), and says: "I don't like stages" -- may be just downright outlandish. I just couldn't resist though...I had to try it. So what if I have to slink out with Ava screaming after the first minute of the show (that was "Elmo Counts" a year ago). The things that were different: instead of taking a disco nap at 5 for an 8pm show, I was at ballet lessons with Ava until 6. Instead of a cocktail and nuts before the show in anticipation of a fabulous dinner afterwards, I split a PB & J and pasta with (at least) vodka sauce with Ava at home no less. It was quicker at home than in a restaurant. I didn't want to get to the theater too early, because Ava has verbalized that she doesn't like stages and I didn't want to emphasize the stage too much. Don't ask me where that came from, I only wish I knew. We got to our seats 5 minutes before 8 after lingering in the bathroom for a while first. As soon as we entered the theater, Ava looked like she had seen a ghost. I paid her no mind and just dragged her by her little hand to our seats. By the time we got there (7th row center, center, center as you can get) she was crying. She asked for a blanket to lay on the floor and go to sleep. I offered her candy corn (which I never do) and a place on my lap. She hibernated in my lap under my coat. Everyone was looking and asking me how old she was. Most people were very sweet and sympathetic instead of making me feel like I was crazy. Finally the lights went down, and Ray Lewis (a Baltimore Raven) came out with a group of 7 children and started reading (as best he could) the story "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Ava wouldn't look. I tried to temp her with candy corn. What saved us is Max, the Grinch's dog, narrating the story. I said: "look, it is Max." She peeped out, and then went back under. Within in 5 minutes she was out for good crooning her neck to see everything, but not budging from my lap the whole night (I LOVED it). People around me were patting me on the back. I was chocked up the whole night. Towards the end, Ava was participating with the audience by clapping and singing. After the show, she wouldn't leave. She wanted to wait for the Grinch to come back on stage. She said: "I loooove the Grinch, I want to hug him." She was almost crying. I wish I had a tape recorder the whole way home as she retold the story and told me how she was going to tell her best friend Marilena about how good the Grinch is and not to be scared. At one point she said: "The Grinch is the man I love most." I don't know what this night says about Ava's future with men or theater, but I hope she goes for those with a heart 3 sizes too big and grows one herself. My heart did.
The Grinch, still talked about
by layoung on 12/3/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5The Grinch, Was more than I expected. We took the family to celebrate my birthday as I have always loved the Grinch, from age 52 to 27 and we all loved it! The performer playing the Grinch was wonderful in his role and included the audience (kids and adults alike). We are still talking about it and repeating line that were said.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
by hello11151 on 12/2/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5Started 30 minutes late, on a school night with a program geared towards kids. Made the night really long for little ones. I thought the Grinch was terrific, but was disappointed in the music. Too much repeat of the same chorus. Didn't keep our little ones' attention.

Gets you into the Christmas spirit!
by KPW1015 on 12/2/11The Fox Theater - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5My husband and I went to this event. Although we do not have any children, the Grinch is great for the kids! Our seats were high so I wasn't able to enjoy the elaborate costumes as much as I would have liked. We loved the musical! It is such a great story and we were very excited to see it!! Highly recommended.
The Grinch was AWESOME!!!
by kmay1913 on 12/2/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5I am 32 years old but this play made me feel 5 all over again. The singing and acting is wonderful in this play. It certainly brought out the kid in me. The costumes were done perfectly, they looked like they jumped from the pages of the book. I love when crowd participation is encouraged. I sang to the top of my lungs! The play was amazing.
