  • Grinch was so much fun

    by memorymama01 on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This is great way to begin holiday season. Everything about it was awesome. Of course anything at the Fox theatre is awesome! Performers were great, beautiful voices, great acting from the "old Max" to the youngest performers, they were all excellent!

  • Excellent!!!

The show as excellence personified. One should definitely go and watch it

  • Grinch was good but not great...

    by Maxamillion123 on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

About the only good thing was the actual grinch character. The rest of the play was kind of lack luster. It was an adaptation that cut a lot of stuff out in order to make it a musical. They added a 10 minute song about "it's the thought that counts" moral which was unnecessary and somewhat annoying since they just kept repeating te same thing over and over. Also we were in the cheap seats literally the last row and for the little one it was a little distracting being that far away.

  • Boring!!!!

    by GeorgiaBallerina33 on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

The beginning dragged on and on! The stories point of view and narration is from the dog, Max, at a very old age. Max is looking back in time at the event when the Grinch stole Christmas. Not impressed with the idea, old Max as the narrator nor the costumes! Horrible! Max looked like a huge Alaskan husky dog with giant turkey legs! Not the Max from the story! The cast is very small and all in all felt more like a One Act Play from a local theater. Not something you would expect to see at the Fox! The Grinch, however, steals the show with his performance! He was excellent! His costume is spot on! If the entire show could have had the same power as the actor who played the Grinch, then it would have been great! All in all, poor scenery, ho-hum supporting actors, bad costumes, not a very good representation of the book or movie. Save your money and catch the Christmas special on t.v. Instead.

  • How the grinch Stole Christmas

    by Webslayer1 on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

    Hate to be...well... a grinch but I did not enjoy this show. I think it is hard to take such a well loved classic and add to it and expect it to be as good or better. The added songs in my opinion, were not memorable, I do not expect them to become classics anytime soon. It seemed like they thought they had to stretch out the performance and just added the songs as fillers. The only time I really enjoyed the show was when they sang the original "You're a mean one...." (and that was very well done) and when the Who's sang their signature song. I am guessing though that I am not the target audience. There were a LOT of small children there and many of them seemed to enjoy it although I saw several restless and towards the end I saw some sleeping. I really wanted to enjoy this show and I tried hard but it just doesn't have the "magic" of the book or the animated movie. Yes...I'm a mean one.......:::sigh::::::;

  • Dr. Seuss at the Fox was a dissapointment

    by CandyB123 on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

Typically love evertyhing at the Fox, however this performance was quite the dissapointment. The Fox was gorgeous as usual and we enjoyed it. The performance was geared toward small children - I would say 7 and under- the costumes and the set were bland and very pink- my son is 10 and he was bored- he typically loves going to performances at the fox. We had great seats, 2nd row balcolny which is good as the show was not that great and the seats helped a little. Did not mind that old Max narrated the story but think is would have been better if youg Max (the dog) did not speak. We will still go to the Fox but I would not reccomend this show.

  • The Grinch stole the show!

    by nataliec100 on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

How the Grinch Stole Christmas was an excellent show. The Grinch was an absolute riot. He did such a fantastic job mimicing the cartoon Grinch in his tone, facial expressions and movements. I figured it would be a good show, but I never expected it to be THAT good! I (and my 9 year old daughter) HIGHLY recommend this show.

  • The Grinch was Spectacular!!!

by HandyGramps on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

A wonderful show, my 10 year old grandson's first live theater. He was mesmerized. We plan to make it an annual tradition and bring the younger grandchildren when they get old enough.

That was an absolutely WONDERFUL treat!!!!!! The singing was superb, the snow at the end was a fantastic surprise and the Grinch himself was absolutely hysterical!!!! We loved his interaction with the audience! I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, my 6 year old daughter or me and my sister!!!!!! It was above and beyond any expectation I may have had. I have been telling everyone about it!!!!!

  • The Grinch was awesome!

by MBAMom on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Took the kids to The Grinch at the Fox, and it was amazing!! The kids loved the show, and even though it was a musical the actors were interactive with the audience and this kept the kids engaged in the show. I highly recommend this to anyone with children 6 years and older. Great show!!!

  • Fun, but not great

    by Rich4258 on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

It was a fun show that certainly had it's moments (the Grinch was very good), but extending a 25 minute cartoon (and short book) to over an hour was a stretch. My 9 year old daughter said she had an ok time, but I can tell she won't be begging to go back again.

  • The Grinch takes on Christmas!

by Millsap on 12/5/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

What a hysterical Grinch. Really cute musical and very well done by the Grinch. He jumps around and gets the audience involved and we LOVED it. The kids won't stop chatting about it and they role play the whos and the Grinch and yell Merry Christmas all over the house.

Thought the show was great, very engaging and really liked the actors interacting with the audience. My wife is a huge Dr. Seuss fan and she was thrilled with the show.. First time at the fox theater and was impressed with the show and venue, we'll be back

  • The Grinch stole the show!!!

by RevvedUpMom on 12/5/11Fox Theater - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Costumes and sets were spectacular, Cindy Lou Who was adorable, Max the old and Max the young were hysterical, and the Grinch didn't steal Christmas, he stole the show. It was like being part of an interactive comedy show...he engaged the audience throughout the show. I was wondering how Broadway could take a 24 minute cartoon and turn it into a play; and they did it with gusto...not a lot of surprises for those of us who are familiar with the story, but it was still a wonderful way for our family to kick off the Christmas season. If you have a chance to see it....GO!!!!

  • Fun family event.

I took two teenage girls. They loved the performance and have since talked about the show to everyone we have come in contact with.

  • by Anonymous on 12/4/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Show was absolutely fantastic!! Great for the young and at heart. The Grinch does a fabulous job and Cindy Lou Who will steal your heart. Love how it's old Max telling the story.

  • dull

Not an improvement on the television version. More attention is placed on the Whos when iy should be placed on the Grinch, Added songs were very forgettable, and Grinch is much less sinister, Would love to have seen more of a "Wicked" type approach
