DR SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small," decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss' original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don't miss what The New York Times calls "AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story."

The main character was perfectly cast. So expressive. We also loved Max - both of them! The Whos were cute however their songs were too many and too long. Kids attention wandered during the "Village"scenes. After all, we came to see the Grinch!
Read the reviews and both Columbus and Detroit reviews were awful. I was afraid of another waste of money. Boston , I was pleasantly surprised. The cast was fantastic; especially the Grinch, the older dog and Cindy Lou. But I think an hour is about where it should end. Eliminate two songs and you could easily cut off 20 minutes. That seemed to be about the limit of the kids around me. Also hard to hear the younger ones. Cindy Lou could use a microphone of her own. But overall I give it an A! Great job!!
The sets were very good as were the costumes except Max who looked nothing like Max in the original or the movie. Could not understand most of what Cindy Lou Who was singing--should have cast someone older to eliminate that little kid voice which was grating at best. The Max's (both old and young) were the real stars. Glad I saw it but also glad it wasn't longer. The venue was freezing in the balcony with cold air blowing on me the entire time.
We love musicals and theatre. This was noise. It held little interest to our granddaughter, and the adults in our party were mostly checking our watches with hope that it would end soon. The Grinch had a few moments that were fun - but most of the performance was simply boring. I feel badly leaving such a negative review, but gosh - what wasted money!
My grandchildren (11and15) really enjoyed the show. The leads had beautiful voices. I’ve been to many Broadway shows. I was not blown away by this one but was a nice family event
The actors did a great job in their roles but the play was not great.
We have gone to a lot of shows in Detroit, and we were somewhat disappointed with this one. The performance itself was cute-ish, but felt like the set, costumes and songs were lacking. The story line was so abbreviated and it was hard to stay engaged. My kids LOVE the grinch, but didn’t rave about this show after. The venue was also full of distractions. So many people coming late and constantly getting up. I do understand that since there was not an intermission with the show which was a little strange. I feel like you always receive a program as well, and didn’t receive one for this. Overall, a cute show but probably wouldn’t go again, especially at the ticket cost.
Perhaps my expectations were too high but this was a huge disappointment for our family. We were in balcony cc which ill be sure to never select again. The hoos costumes were amazing but the show was the worst we have seen. Way too many lights and obnoxious scenes. We left early, overstimulated and disappointed.

Things didn’t go as the true Grinch story which was a bummer. It was decent though.
I knew nothing about the storyline when I got the tickets my husband thought he would be miserable and he enjoyed it as much as I did, It was so fun. The actors made it such an enjoyable time they were quality and all of them gave it everything no stiff cardboard performances this was the first live musical and songs were great, the cast belted them out with gusto , joy and lots of emotion The Palace theatre always delivers the only bad thing was were the gift booth was really bad spot either should have been separate lanes one for the swag the other to get in or the booth moved to the other side of the lobby I hope this comes back next year
Loved every bit of the show! I do think Cindy lou lou could have sounded less like a baby and her hair could have been bigger. However the show itself was great!!!
Grinch looked more like beetle juice. The set was cheap and the show overall not impressive. All 3 of us agreed they took the worst part of the movies and made this - not impressed especially for the price point. You would expect more for the ticket price but this was similar to a high school play.
Great experience, we had a lot of fun watching it, will go again next year.
The show was amazing. Full of dance, music and talented characters who brought the story to life. I would highly recommend this show for anyone, from ages 5 and up. A very family oriented show. The cast did an amazing job!
We took our almost 4 year old, GREAT grand daughter as a Christmas present. She loved it! She was just in awe of the theatre (having never seen anything like that!) and all the people. She sang and clapped and loved the GRINCH. (her favorite movie) The sets were awesome and the costumes were incredible. Very well done!
I've seen this musical several times and have always enjoyed it. This year I was able to take my 9 and 6 year old nieces. Everyone was excited to see it. I purchased tickets in the Loge at the Palace Theater (which is my favorite place to sit.) The performance and dancing were as great as I had remembered from previous experiences, however, It was incredibly hard to hear and most importantly UNDERSTAND what was being said. Both of the young ones with me asked several times "What are they saying?". At one point during the show, I believe there should have been snow falling over the audience. You could hear the loud machines gear up to go, but nothing happened. Both Nieces asked "what's going to happen?"and my reply was- Just wait and see! and of course when nothing did happen, it was a true let down. I can only give this performance 2 stars. It wasn't an enjoyable experience for the amount paid for tickets.
Seeing this live version of The Grinch was a bit different from the television version. The music and movements were great and well practiced. It did not look like any mistakes were made. We traveled from Canton, OH to see this performance and it exceeded my expectations.
The performance of Grinch was tremendous. The young kids as well as us older ones totally enjoy the costuming, songs, theatrics and the 2 Maxs. Young one was a particular standout. The snow and ending streamers were such a nice surprise. Only suggestion would be to cut it just a bit shorter...a couple spots could be trimmed. SO VERY happy to have seen it. Grinch was wonderful as well as the cast and the pit!!
