About

DR SEUSS’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don’t miss what The New York Times calls “AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story.”

    The Grinch Musical

by cjmsproductions on 11/29/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

The play was great, the cast was awesome; however, this was the shortest musical I have ever been to. The tickets cost me over $100.00 each and the musical was so short that it didn't even have an intermission? I think they should have added a few more scenes or extended it a little bit. The story line went too fast .

    The "Grinch" is Wonderfully Delightful!!

by LBPatti on 11/29/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

Our whole family (2 adults and 2 almost adults) thoroughly enjoyed this show. I found the staging and costumes delightful, the actiing and singing superb. I recommend this show to anyone. (Note: Several young children (<5yrs) were frightened by the Grinch; I would not recommend taking children younger than that).

Grinch was fun for all 3 generations!!

by FanfromGlendale on 11/29/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

We had family in town from all over the world and wanted to satisfy 3 generations, ages 10 to 81. When we bought the tickets, we were told that Christopher Lloyd and John Larroquette were performing. really looked forward to seeing these 2 stars- known by all of the family members. We were initially disappointed when we arrived at the theatre to learn that someone else was playing the Grinch and that Mr. Lloyd was not appearing. NO NEED TO WORRY!!! The fellow playing Grinch was priceless!! ( Stephan Karl?? I think) What a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season.

    Laroquette phoned in his performance

    by FABPJ13 on 11/29/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

We were excited to see the Grinch and drove up from Orange County. Now, I don't know if it is because we are use to seeing shows on Broadway in New York or if this was just bad, but we were bored and almost fell asleep. John Laroquette, who should have been the main draw was barely there. The little girl who played Cindy Lou Who was charming and the Grinch was fun, but I would skip this one.

by lovedgrinch on 11/29/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

We went to see the musical for my husband's birthday. It was so funny and so creative! The characters did a wonderful job and I loved the costumes that they had. The lighting and effects were beautiful and all the characters did a splendid job in their performances! I also loved that the characters interacted with the audience. It made the event so much fun.

Cute, but best for little kids. Not the caliber of production I've come to expect at the Pantages.

    90 minutes of holiday fun

by allstargirl on 11/29/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

I took a 6 and a 4 year old to the show yesterday and they loved it. The Grinch was just grinchy enough without being too scary. Costumes and sets are fantastic and there are a few quick moments of audience participation that are elements that really pull you in. Some of a lyrics are a little difficult to understand and this becomes problematic when there are just 2 actors on stage---it gets somewhat slow for the little ones. But those are short-lived and then it's back to who-ville and the Christmas madness. I've been to the Pantages many times and i did notice that they do an excellent job for family shows. Now that I think about it, each and every staff member was friendly and more than helpful. They were chatty with the kids, came around with booster seats, helped us the in the will call line, pointed out extra restrooms, etc. That can make all the difference when you're in a theater with 500 kids under age 10. A nice experience!

A family event that everyone will enjoy

by CalKal on 11/29/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

We adults laughed at the Grinch's sarcastic lines and my daughter loved the singing, the dancing, and the jokes. It put us all in the Christmas mood and reminded us all what Christmas is about -- as the Grinch usually does. It was a fun show for everyone.

    extremely magical!

by DJFH on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

This play was very magical from the moment 'Old Max' stepped on stage. The costumes were out of this world in creativity and color. Robbie Rotten from Lazy Town brought the Grinch to life with amaziing effect. His facial expressions and voice can't be beat.

Meh, it was alright. If my friend was a 10 year old, then I'd probably recommend it to him/her. Otherwise, it's kind of a cute story but I found the musical to be quite cheesy and unexciting. Bottom line is: great for taking the family with kids, but boring/waste of time/waste of money just to go for the sake of watching a musical.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas was very enjoyable!

by hulamom on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

Our family loved the show. We thought the cast was wonderful. It was our 2nd Musical at the Pantages and we hope to see more there. The way it brought the audience in to participate in the show was so much fun. My 11 year old daughter sat on a end seat and was able to interact with some of the cast members. It was a very enjoyable musical.

    Review of the Grinch

by giafan on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

We had great seats row A - 109 & 110 - John Laroquette was the "pitts" he did not seem engaged with the show at all. I was very dissappointed - The Grinch on the otherhand was Awesome! Sad to see the lack of enthusiam in the Actors - granted it was a Tuesday night - yet we paid premium for those tickets
