About

DR SEUSS’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don’t miss what The New York Times calls “AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story.”

    Grinched for Christmas

    by Shep52 on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

The Pantages is a beautiful venue. This musical was absolutely enjoyable. Larroquette was excellent, Stefan Karl was superb, Everyone in the cast was exceptional. This should be mandatory for all people at this time of the year. Especially those with children. (of any age)

a Great way to spend a couple of hours

by ockb on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

I was curious how they would pull off the challenge of the sets...and they nailed it. The costumes, sets, props were perfect. Casting was also perfect as little Cindy Lou just stole the show everytime she opened her mouth. It was a fun show and we enjoyed the entire cast and the outstanding performance. I highly recommend you go see this with or without little ones...it's a treat for all ages.

    Good Christmas family event

by PenJen on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

I would have liked it to be a bit longer and maybe a few more catchy songs, but overall it was a fun celebration of Christmas! True Christmas spirit! You can take the whole family. Good for the kids. Very fun! Great costumes and set design.

    The Grinch was amazing

by clskes on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

My 8 year old nephew and 10 year old niece loved the play! My nephew is a tough audience to please and he was spellbound. I thought the Grinch stole the show -- he was absolutely amazing. The young dog was also great. My 20 year old daughter thought little Cindy Lou Who stole the show. She was darling and did an excellent job. All of the actors were energetic and did a great job. The sets where fun. The play was the perfect length -- long enough to tell the story but short enough for the young audience. Well done!

    Great Fun for Kids!

    by eva1982 on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

My 5 year-old daughter loved this musical! I thought it was a little slow in some parts (and some musical numbers went on a tad too long) but it kept her attention throughout the entire 90 minute production.

It was very well played and quite enjoyable. I would recommend to all with family. My only complaint was with the seats as the theatre was not full but we were packed in the front. I will call next time to purchase so I can get better seats a little further back.

    The Grinch Who Stole X-mas

    by E1Astra on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

It was very expensive, but very good--especially for a family with kids from 4 or 5 on up. Our whole family went (10 of us). We are the grandparents. We have 4-, 6-, and 9-year-old grandkids. The 6 and 9-year olds did not take their faces from the stage. Their faces were priceless. The 4-year sat in his mother's lap and enjoyed it too--especially when the snow came down on him. My adult daughter and her boyfriend (they have no children yet) thought it was just OK. Everyone else loved it. The stage props and snow imagery were fabulous--especially when it showed the sleigh riding in the night sky. I thought The Grinch was amazing--especially his facial expressions and his make up, his demeanor, his whole part was done so well. Costumes were great and the presentation with the old dog and the younger dog was so well done and carried out. And the little girl, Cindy, did a fabulous job as well. I took it down to 4 stars because of the price and because my daughter & boyfriend just thought it was OK.

    The Grinch was delightful!

by ReverendMary on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

The only reason it wasn't amazing for me is because it is a show more geared toward children. It was cute.....the talent was fantastic.......and it was overall a great experience.

    Really Cute

by GinaMK on 11/28/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

I would recommend this as a great family event. Very cute and lively. Great costumes, and not to long for kids to enjoy. My seven year old loved it.

Cute, but should have been cheaper especially since there are a million children making noise throughout the production, including mine. $30.00 tickets would have made the show great, but since I paid $58.00 per ticket--not really worth it.

    Grinch Stole our Hearts!

    by Maria7018 on 11/26/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

The show was spectacular! The kids did not move a muscle in awe for a all the begining of the show. It interacted with the audience and its humor was for all ages! We laughed, we cried, we loved it! The Grinch was phenomenal and he stole our hearts! Encore!

The cast was great, especially the actor that played the Grinch; he really saved the show! I also liked the older dog as narrator. However, the stage direction was terrible with way too much "stand and sing" poses. I also thought the jokes about materialistic whos was a conceptual disconnect.

Will turn any Grinch into a Christmas Lover

by Calishoegirl on 11/26/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

This event was SO much fun. It wasn't overly long and the entire play is done in one act. The musical numbers are fun and the costumes are colorful and cute. Crowd LOVED the celebrity appearance when "Old Max" hit the stage. The story was different than what you may traditionally be used to. Entertaining enough to keep young children engaged. This play is sure to put Christmas cheer into any Grinch in your life. You MUST go see this.

    Very fun

by Gorgor on 11/26/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

We really enjoyed this musical as a family with one problem we were not expecting. My mom is handicapped and in a wheelchair except for very short distances. I assumed there was an elevator to get to the mezzanine. I was wrong. She wasn't able to climb the stairs so they found two seats down below and the three others sat above. The manager was very nice and helpful; we just couldn't be together unless we were way off to the side. A teenager crossed in front of my mom 5 times during the play. The usher should have stopped him as it was very rude and he would hit my mom's legs. The play though was very fun and enjoyable.

    A new holiday tradition

    by 4USC on 11/26/09Pantages Theatre - Hollywood

Just a wonderful production for children and adults. John Larroquette was simply perfect in his role as Old Max. The musical numbers were delightful. Just loved it. ONE NOTE: spend the money and get tickets in the orchestra level. We were up in the mezzanine and missed out on some great fun when the cast wondered through the audience. And another holiday surprise, which I won't share. We also had issues with a rather large person who insisted on leaning on the rail and blocking everyones view. Get orchestra seats!!!!!
