Doug Benson (“Last Comic Standing,” "Super High Me") has been on an album-a-year schedule since 2008 (his most recent release being "Gateway Doug 2: Forced Fun"), plus he has two popular weekly podcasts (“Doug Loves Movies” and "Getting Doug With High"), does the occasional film (“The Greatest Movie Ever Rolled”) and makes regular appearances on “@midnight” on Comedy Central. Such a busy schedule for High Times’ 2009 Stoner of the Year.

I completely understand that doug benson is a marijuana advocate but I was looking forward to this event for a few months and was extremely disappointed that he could barely function. I am a big fan of his comedy, but was upset at wasting my money, buying four tickets, driving an hour and a half to see him sip water and barely be able to put together sentences.
Benson is always awesome funny and fun. You can't get much better then that. Wait..... You can all his special guests. 4 awesome funny dudes.
We've seen Doug Benson and Ngaio Beallum (sp?) several times each in recent years. They're always high - and they always do great shows. In fact, the only time I've ever seen Doug when he's not high was in his movie "Super High Me" (during the 30 days when he has to be sober). Wednesday night's show was in honor of 7/10 day (OIL when read upside down) and Doug was in full celebration mode. He even joked about how much of an effort it was to actually remember a whole joke. WAY beyond Super High!
Ironically enough, his openers were better. I LOVE Doug's "Doug Loves Movies" podcast and bought tickets to see him live. It was 7/10 (apparently a stoner holiday- hash oil day?) and he was so far gone that he wasn't funny at all. A bit of a bummer- used to his quick wit (even when high). He basically stood at a mic and drank water out of a glass with a straw. Mega bummer :(
Doug's a great comedian but I wish that he wasnt soooooooooooooooooooooooooo high. I get that he likes to smoke and get a little high before a show, but this was kind of ridiculous. Thankfully he had some great comics there to help him out.
The show was awesome! Great guests, and great times!!!
So there were a ton of Doug Benson nerds there, and they were going to enjoy the night no matter what. My friend and I had only seen Super High Me, and never heard too much other than that. With all that being said, everything Doug Benson said was hilarious. Dudes funny as hell. I would absolutely go see him again - he did plenty of bits that were off the top of the dome too (see twitter feed comedy). Finally, the opener (Graham?) was awful. I'm sure his podcast is funny, but he is not a good standup comedian. I would imagine he'd kill around where he came from, but not a good fit for the coasts.
Doug Benson and Graham Elwood were great.. I would return for any standup/podcast/movie interruption that Doug Benson was performing at. Yes, I did not realize that I (and about 40 others) would be standing up, but 2 vodkas and the high level of humor kept me happy. And on the plus side (obviously I was standing near the near bar), I was one of the first in the meet and greet line. Minus side, I was pretty buzzed, and my complements to Doug and Graham came off slightly less than intelligible.
Doug Benson and Graham Elwood were a riot. The venue was clean, the staff was friendly and respectful. The only thing is they could have had more chairs as we were left having to stand.
With high expectations, Doug Benson was the worst comedian I ever took the time to get a bunch of my friends together for my birthday and see. He was so high, he just kept reading his twitter posts for more than half the show. Very hard to believe this was material for his CD he was recording. Very little to laugh at. I am actually an ex-Doug Benson an now.
Enjoyed Doug a lot. Funny and make me laugh. He played with the audience a lot. That was nice
This was a great show! Doug was hilarious, opener was just ok. Perfect way to spend a Saturday night!
There is such a thing as being too high. If I wanted to read tweets I would have opened twitter, not spent $25 plus fees.
Fantastic great show. Doug never disappoints and the most excitining part of DLM is you never know who will be there.
I love listening to DLM so I attend the live shows whenever I can. I got to the Gramercy at 6:15 to make sure I'd be able to sit close to the stage--there were already 20 other there. Great guest panel, awesome audience name tags. It's fun to see the show.
The show was absolutely hilarious!! Doug Benson is one of the funniest people alive!! Rory Scovel was amazing as well!
Hilarious even sober and not high.......me, not him.
Amazing night! Palace Station was a bit strange but this show was good. Dan Hardy was an unexpected guest along with Redban & Graham Elwood.
I an a recovered alcoholic and a member of SAFER. Doug was obviously drunk on stage, talked about alcohol, and was belligerent while off stage. His act consisted of reading tweets by members, slowly, with no real joke. He then read some 5 year old material. Then brought out Graham Elwood to complete the show and actually make people laugh while filling in more time by asking audience members questions about movies. WHY WOULD I PAY FOR THAT???? I waited years to meet him only to be sincerely let down by the man in person. If you want good Benson comedy, rewatch best-week-ever. I got more laughs from listening to his old material the first time, back when it was funny.
