Dermot Kennedy on Tour
Folk singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy has quickly taken the world by storm, rising from a small town in Ireland to release a number of charting singles as well as work with revered musicians and producers like Glen Hansard and Mike Dean (Kanye West, Travis Scott). In 2017, the dynamic performer went on the U.S. festival circuit and played Lollapalooza, South by Southwest, Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo, making an international name for himself with his high-energy shows. The following year, he went on a world tour and played shows in the U.S., Australia and Europe, hitting Coachella and also playing an NPR Tiny Desk Concert after being voted NPR Slingshot Best New Artist of the Year. Kennedy's live shows flesh out his intimate tunes with a full band, bringing the audience fully inside his expressive songs. Kennedy's tour in 2019 took him across multiple continents as he incorporated tracks from his sophomore album, Without Fear, into his set.

Born in 1991 in Ireland, Kennedy was attracted to music at a young age, picking up a guitar at 10 and taking the plunge into songwriting a few years later, at 14. Before long, Kennedy was performing at open mics around Dublin; eventually he found himself busking — playing music on the street for money — in cities around the world. After high school, he studied classical music at the university level for a few years, but ultimately decided to pursue folk music. Kennedy's big break came when he won first place in a major upset at the South County Song Contest at St. Finian's GAA Club, putting him on the radar of industry professionals and singer-songwriters around the world.
After he self-published on Spotify, some of Kennedy's music found its way onto Discover Weekly playlists, which helped him get noticed by a wider audience. His first charting single, "Young & Free," reached No. 82 on the Irish Singles Chart, but his breakthrough came with 2018's "Power Over Me," which reached No. 10 on the Irish Singles Chart, No. 21 on the U.S.'s Hot Rock Songs and No. 5 on Adult Alternative. "Power Over Me" has since been certified gold. Kennedy signed to Interscope and, in January 2019, released his self-titled debut album, which hit No. 5 on the Irish charts.
The amphitheater is absolutely stunning and we had excellent seats, although I don’t believe there is a bad seat in the house. The concert itself was by far the best performance I have seen & I have been to a lot of shows. The energy Dermot exuded was electric & I cannot wait to see him again.
Drove to chicago to see him and had front row seats , and I ugly cried SOO hard. He performed EXACTLY the way I always imagined it and it couldn’t have been more perfect. He performed An Evening I Will Not Forget and it was my first time ever hearing it, and I instantly became obsessed and decided to buy Michigan tickets last night too, just to hear him perform it again. 10/10 ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, I’m such a huge fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love himmmmm

The Venue was near the water - so it was cold but thankfully that prompted us to get sweatshirts which we cherish now as memorabilia. The first act, the guy came out and it was good and a nice surprise to have Dermot join him. There was another performer and she also did a good job. I would have liked less downtime in-between sets but that is ok. I absolutely loved the live show and Dermot is my favorite artist and so thankful to see him in person in concert! He is so talented and an amazing artist, full of emotion, soul and raw reality that his lyrics connect so well. It was worth every penny I spent on the tickets and the VIP parking. I would see him again and so glad he made this tour happen. Dermot Kennedy - a real artist who is better live than on the radio and he smashes it every time!!!!

Dermot put on an amazing show. The stage, lighting, and sound were all great. The whole venue setup felt clunky though. Purchasing close parking once you got there was not an option, so the walk from the nearest parking garage to the venue was a long one and there was not adequate signs. There was then extremely long roped off sections for entry that seemed super unnecessary. Once inside, the seats were ziptied together. This could have been fine, except the seats were tiny and forced people to be sitting practically on top of each other. Even once everyone was standing up, there was no wiggle room at all. And, since the seats are all on a flat area rather than a slanted one, your view can be entirely obstructed by a person taller than you and there's no room to maneuver to see around them. The pretzels at concessions were also cold, stale, and very overpriced.
Worth every 💰. Total class act, wonderfully Soulful, and insanely talented. Authenticity is off the charts. 📈🤳🫶 Thanks for an incredible Evening. ⚖️
This was my first Dermot Kennedy show and I couldn't have been more impressed by his talent, kindness and empathy he showed toward others. He's a rare gem and i can't wait until he comes back to Chicago!
The energy and passion were off the charts every single second of the show. The level of musicianship from the entire band is unreal. The lights and effects were next level as well. Everyone should experience a Dermot Kennedy show at least once in their life. He is just on a whole other level.
This was hands down the best show I’ve ever seen, if seen so many shows. Dermot killed it, nobody has a voice like this man.
Dermot Kennedy gave the best performance ever. So talented, so absolutely heartfelt. It was one of the most moving experiences for me and my partner. I wish he could have fit more songs into his set (Giants would have brought us to our knees) but honestly how can I complain? It was a show we’ll remember the rest of our lives

I’ve never been to a concert that was so powerful, and full of emotion. Dermot Kennedy puts on a show you will never forget. The message he puts behind his music on the radio is amazing but in person will leave you speechless.
This venue was amazing and Dermot Kennedy was phenomenal live!! He was entertaining and sounded even better than what you hear on the radio. The lights and show were great! We had the best time and couldn’t recommend him or the venue enough

I have been following Dermot since YouTube videos 4 years ago. Seeing him was a dream come true. He’s so talented and his show was AMAZING!!! I would pay so much more and travel further to see him play again. Thank you for the most amazing, magical experience. Dermot, you did great and it was a perfect night seeing you perform

This was the second time I’ve seen Dermot, the first with my daughter. Not only did Dermot put on an amazing show- as always. But the venue itself was an experience. Beyond glad that I was able to experience that as well!
I can't put into words how magically the venue plus Dermot was. He up his production game, the band was flawless, and his background singers amazing. I want to relive this night over an over again.
