Never pass a chance to see Del McCoury

by Del Yeah! on 10/30/23The Walker Theatre - Chattanooga

He is a living legend and you never know when your last chance to catch Del could be. Still performs with the best of them, and although it's a shorter show than many (due to his age) he can still hang and is an amazing performer! Del Yeah!

by Wendy on 10/29/23Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

We were completely blown away by the fabulous performance of the Del McCoury Band! We knew it was going to be special but it was beyond wonderful! They were so amazing and talented and they never stopped smiling! True professionals in every way. We can’t wait to see them again - hopefully soon!

    Undiminished at 84!

by DMc on 10/29/23Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

Del McCoury is the living link to real Bluegrass music and to Bill Monroe. He was amazing at Center Stage (Oct 26, 2023): at 84 years old, he sang & played flawlessly & powerfully, with a mischievous and youthful sense if humor that made the evening even more enjoyable. The staging was simple and expertly executed as always, and the vocal trios and quartets were flawless and thrillingly sung. Wow. Catch him while you can.

    Fantastic show

by L.M on 11/8/19Crystal Bay Club Casino Crown Room - Crystal Bay

We’ve seen Del McCurry several times and he always does a great show. This show was one of my favorites. The music was great, the sound was awesome and Del and the boys were having a good time.

    Bluegrass extravaganza

by Stormdog76 on 1/19/16State Theatre, Kalamazoo - Kalamazoo

As usual, Billy Strings and Don Julin (with Kevin Gills on bass) tore the roof off the place. They got the crowd worked into a solid lather with their high energy brand of psycho bluegrass. Too bad this was their last show together . . . . Jeff Austin continues to utterly underwhelm. He has lost his mojo since leaving YMSB. His band is not nearly as talented as the old YMSB, and they lost the crowd with a lackluster performance. Del McCoury is as good as it gets for old school straight up bluegrass. Just five great pickers and singers playing their asses off.

    Del McCoury was disappointing.

by 5Bluesman on 4/9/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

My wife and I are both fans, however, Del could not remember words for most songs and was not prepared. It was disappointing considering the price we paid.

The music was great but the show was too short. What a beautiful venue for a summer concert. This place needs to be marketed better. We only heard about this show by a coincidence. We loved it and look forward to coming back for future shows. Than you very much. Really enjoyed the Ben & Jerry's

    Unbelievable Musical Fusion

by NavDad85 on 8/15/11SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - Windsor

For years I have considered myself something of a misnomer in that my two favorite types of music are bluegrass and jazz (particularly Swing and Dixieland). The corroboration of the Pres Hall and Del McCoury bands perfectly blends my favorites and solidifies my appreciation of these two genres.

    amazing performance, terrible venue

by simsburytom on 8/15/11SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - Windsor

two seemingly dissimular bands performed amazingly well together. had the audience rocking all night. summerwind venue was terrible. no tailgating, food or beverages. food for sale was not properly heated and wine was undrinkable.

    Del McCoury Band plays Cheekwood

by janet4dierks on 10/19/10Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art - Nashville

On a slightly damp, chilly evening in Middle Tennessee, the heat was supplied by the revving of guitars, mandolin and banjo and the pure energy of the Del Mc Coury Band. Known for their superb musicianship, Del and the band warmed up the hillside with rousing renditions of songs from their current album as well as taking requests from the audience. Del laughed that eveyone wanted to hear the old songs. Requests included: A Good Man Like Me. Ronnie's bar ballad: Last Call (for Alcohol), and A Snake in the House. were done with wit and style.

    Del McCoury Band at Cheekwood

by Ssiisssssy on 10/17/10Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art - Nashville

Fantastic! We really enjoyed the venue, Cheekwood, with the Chihuly exhibit in the background. Del played his greatest hits and gave a preview of his new album with the Preservation Hall Band. His band is timeless.

Del McCoury Band, "in the grass"

by radiooer on 10/16/10Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art - Nashville

The "Class Act" of bluegrass music with an extraordinary repertoire spanning three decades, presented in an imminent setting on Cheekwood's front yard. I have never seen them without suit and tie; impeccable manners, polite interaction with the audience; no fooling around. A broad set without break; flawless musicianship, harmonies and lead vocals all in chilly outdoor evening temperatures. Each member is a master of their instrument with extensive lead picking breaks. Absolutely no disappointments for anyone. One of the most productive and awarded bands in bluegrass still widely touring.

    The Best of the Best

by BillInRichmond on 6/4/10The National - Richmond

The Del McCoury band was (as always) exceptional -- every song a masterpiece in individual virtuosity and group synthesis. And The National was a terrific venue, put its excellent acoustics to very good use. I saw Del McCoury at The National two years ago, and once again we had a really enthusiastic Richmond crowd, which is great because I want the band to have a warm place in their hearts for Richmond so they come again.

by LBee on 3/3/10Headliners Music Hall - Louisville

Del McCoury Band is worth the price - great show. I had never even heard of Trampled by Turtles - but I'll make sure I see them anytime they are in the area. An unexpected surprise.
