Del McCoury and his bluegrass band were so talented, fun, and accomodating to the audience. Thanks for a great experience.

Seen this band several times over the years. this was their best show yet.

Before the show started, Del popped his head out of the side door of the Birchmere and the crowd erupted in applause. They would do so countless times over the next 2 1/2 hours as Del McCoury and his band wowed us with their consummate musical ability. It is not often when you get to see multiple award winners performing simultaneously. Choreography played a role as the band moved about on stage to fully utilize the two free standing microphones. New songs were interspersed with old, including renditions of Vincent Black Lightning 1952, High on a Mountain, 40 acres an a Fool and Sweet Appalachia. When the concert ended the whole band gathered out front to greet fans and sign t-shirts, CDs and guitars. This concert reminded I and my friends that recordings cannot equal live performances and normal performers cannot equal masters of their craft. Long life and gracious thanks to Del for his lifetime of dedication to this great American music!
