About

Donna The Buffalo is not just a band, rather one might say that Donna The Buffalo has become a lifestyle for its members and audiences. Since 1989, the roots rockers have played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Telluride, Austin City Limits Festival, Merle Fest, and Philadelphia Folk Festival.

They've opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan, Del McCoury, Los Lobos, Little Feat, Jim Lauderdale, Rusted Root, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben & Jerry's co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics.

In 1991, the band started the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg, NY. The four day festival has become an annual destination for over 15,000 music lovers every year and was started as an AIDS benefit. It continues as a benefit for arts and education. To date, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and is now one of three Grassroots Festivals; the Bi-annual Shakori Hills fest in North Carolina and Virginia Key festival in Florida. In 2016 GrassRoots Culture Camp was introduced in Trumansburg, New York as four days of music, art, dance and movement workshops, including nightly dinners and dances.

by TLC on 11/25/25The Vogel at Count Basie Center for the Arts - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Love this band so talented! This is our fifth time and we try whenever they come to the area to see them. The venue sound was perfect for them. Seating and ticket prices were fantastic!

  • Great!

by MG on 11/25/25The Vogel at Count Basie Center for the Arts - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

The Vogel is a great venue and very intimate and DtB was on fire! The whole experience was fantastic, from entry to bar to show. The song choices were perfect and all played great. I think I may follow them around the country when I retire.

  • Great band and good venue.

by JD on 5/10/25District Live - SavannahRating: 4 out of 5

Great band and terrific music. Also really liked the venue but was very disappointed the show was not better advertised and attended. I accidentally happened onto the show late the night before. More advanced promotion was needed. This band deserved a full house.

  • Flat out fun

by Tony on 3/11/25Jefferson Theater - CharlottesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Donna the Buffalo was on point! Really full sound. Played a long 2 hr set without a break. Toe tapping goodness all the way around. Really amazed at how tight and soulful they were. They has fine tuned their craft and then some!

  • Donna the Buffalo in Red Bank

by Bob T on 12/15/24The Vogel at Count Basie Center for the Arts - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

The band was great as usual. So nice to see them in an intimate venue like this as opposed to festivals. Jeb is great, Tara is an amazing talent and the rest of the band cooked too.

  • No Fuss No Muss

    by GKC on 5/11/24Elevation 27 - Virginia BeachRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing Donna the Buffalo and I'm gonna see 'em again! Talented, versatile and thoroughly enjoyable. Great mix of R&B, Americana and Zydeco with a touch of funk. Love Elevation too where you can get an up close & personal experience without pushing and shoving.

  • Great Music

by KWKen on 3/6/24The Senate - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Both bands (Steel Wheels and Donna the Buffalo) were great. The sound was good and the Venue was good (if you don't mind standing). As typical for Columbia, SC, the attendance for a Bluegrass/Americana concert was sparse. These same bands would have sold out in other locations.
