  • Danny Elfman

by HollywoodBowlGoer on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5

I am a Danny Elfman fan. I mostly love him for his musical scores in amazing movies. I don’t know his regular music but this show wasn’t what I was expecting. The couple next to us knew most of his music. The sound volume was too high and I was up in the terrace seats. I know, the bowl has an incredible sound system. The choir was super great. I didn’t care for the opening act Desire. Lesson learned, I will make sure when I buy tickets again for one of his shows that it will be a movie night.

  • Magical

by Blanca on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show!! The mix of my favorite movies, along with Oingo Boingo songs!! In addition to the night weather being drizzling made it even more magical!! My ticket was at the pit which I loved being so close and able to dance. Plus seeing Danny Elfman up close couldn’t get any better!! He still looks good!! Just like my first Oingo Boingo show!! I truly wish he had more shows!

  • Great Show!!!

Such a great show as always, Danny always puts on the best shows, seen him 3 times so far and he never disappoints

  • Elfman is amazing. Venue, not so much.

by Chuck on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

Danny Elfman was amazing, he is truly one of the greatest artists of all time. We didn't like the Hollywood bowl though. They cram you into the garden boxes (in the front row you can't see over the people standing in the pit in front of you) and the lady's table behind me was jammed into my back as no one knew how to put it together. The accessibility program was a joke and non existent for people in wheelchairs too. Net net, Elfman: AMAZING. Venue: Not great. Also the opening act was too loud and we didn't need it. Why they even have opening acts I will never understand, we didn't pay to see them, so why are we forced to watch it?

  • Elfman at the Bowl

by Ken on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Danny Elfman electrified at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night, with a fantastic show featuring his film scores, solo work, and Oingo Boingo classics. Opening act Desire was excellent too!

  • Stellar Experience

by Kimberly on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Danny Elfman was fabulous as always. I also feel that the Hollywood Bowl did a great job of managing and organizing the crowds. Any lines moved pretty quickly and the shuttles were easy to navigate. My only complaint is that we were all crammed onto the benches like sardines. Not comfortable and hard to move around. I also had a hard time finding my seat as the paint for the row numbers are really worn out and unclear. But overall, good experience.

  • Amazing, Just Amazing

by Elf Fan on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Danny Elfman'a show was every bit theatrics and amazing music wrapped up in one. The variety and depth of his catalogue is awesome and he played over almost every thing you could want to hear of his. The support orchestra and band mates were amazing as well. Not to be missed!

  • The show sucked

by OingoBoingoForever on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 1 out of 5

The show sucked. All new music which no one in the audience cared about it. He would do 3-4 new songs and then a hit song from him as a solo artist or a hit with Oingo Boingo. And then of course some film score highlights which were fine.

  • Great all-around

Danny Elfman is amazing. The bowl is the absolute best venue. Acoustics are amazing. Really the best experience

  • Overall pretty good

by Boingo gan on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

I am a lifelong Oingo Boingo fan and have seen them live at least a dozen times going back to the 1980’s. I adore Danny Elfman and have a great deal of respect and admiration for all the film compositions he has done. But this concert was a little bit of a mixed bag for me. The producers played nearly nonstop frenetic, dark images on the screens behind Elfman, especially on the largest center screen. I found that to be very distracting, at least from where we were sitting about 2/3 of the way up. I would have rather seen more close ups of Elfman and the band. He played a bunch of his movie scores, which is fine and to be expected, but I think most of us would have loved more Boingo. His voice still sounds great, though, at 71 years old, he understandably lacks some of the energy that I loved from back in the day. I am glad that we went but I think this will be my last Elfman concert unless he tours with a more Boingo-heavy set.

Boingo fans and movie buffs feasted on a great setlist.

  • Danny Elfman was truly Amazing!

by Jedman on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Danny Elfman's show at the Hollywood Bowl on on The Day of the Dead was fantastic! As a long time Boingo fan, it was great to hear 12 songs from that catalog. He also touched on just about every point in his long musical score career. Music from Spiderman, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks, Batman, Beetlejuice, The Simpsons, and Edward Scissorhands! His band and and orchestra sounded great! If you get the chance to see him, don't be "On the Outside", you need to go! Truly a memorable night!

  • Better than Boing????

by MysticMark on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

What a fantastic show. The energy of both Danny and the musicians was at such a high level the entire show, that it made it almost overwhelming at times. The show flowed from instrumental to full blown rock without pause. The feel of the Oingo Boingo songs were more punk rock and they punched hard and loud. The visuals playing on the screens and the effects used, make me think that this is what a 'Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boing' show in the 70's would look like if they were forming today. I went to 2 Oingo Boingo shows in the 80's/90's and I would say that the years of growing as a musician are reflected on how Danny and this band play those old songs. The sound was better than anything I heard from him 30 years ago, which is unheard of in my opinion. Most musicians are losing their voices, energy and stage presence at this point in their carriers, Danny and his band look like they are just getting started. Well worth seeing and if he does it again next year, I will be back.

  • It was an awesome SHOW!!!

by Jr on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Haven't seen him since the 90s. He is a genius, love the whole show. It was really nice to hear the song that he sang thirty years ago

  • Great Concert

    by Maggie G on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Danny Elfman was amazing! Last time I saw him was back in 1992 and he sounded just as good in 2024!

  • Happy Dia de los Muertos with Danny Elfman

by Bob on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

We had not seen Danny Elfman since the Oingo Boingo days, so did not really know what to expect. It was a fantastic night at the Bowl. The Dia de los Muertos theme was in play all night. Danny's selection of songs, and historical focus played right into the night. His sound was incredible, and his voice is as rich and full of range as it sounds in the movie theatres. The symphony and choir behind him were incredible as well, creating the perfect merriment to Danny's many movie songs. At one point during a movie song, you could see Danny turned around looking at the stage and the backscreen just enjoying the band, the choir, the conductor and the harmony, as he was essentially toe tapping and swaying with the music. It is great to see someone that enthralled in their creation. A true artist! Highly recommended. Well worth our trip to Los Angeles.

  • Soooo Good!

by JD on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Had been decades since I saw Danny live, so I was pumped to see what he had left in the tank. Back in '85 at UCSB, we'd crank Oingo before heading out for Halloween! At the Hollywood Bowl on Nov. 2nd, Elfman, along with at least 44 others on stage, cranked out all my favorites, plus the tunes from the various compositions he's written for TimBurton, The Simpsons, et al. The energy was fantastic! The video screen presentation was great too! And the guys 71! Dude is also jacked, must travel with dumbbells and bench press because he looks great! And his tattoos are fricken' awesome, on display most of the show, blending in perfectly with the character of the show. No wardrobe change needed for this guy! Miss the 80's tunes, and Danny Elfman delivered the energy I expected! A MUST SEE!!!

  • Great Danny Elfman Show

by DeweyJr on 11/5/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Danny Elfman put on a great show, that was hugely entertaining, and he played almost all the songs you’d want to hear him sing! Hollywood Bowl is a great venue to see a show, but was perfect for Danny Elfman, his band, orchestra, and choir!! Amazing show
