    Amazing Experience - Eclectic Catalog

by Danny from San Clemente on 8/7/23

Danny Elfman, composer, lead singer of Oingo Boingo, and all round interesting musician hit the stage with a bang! He weaved an intricate story of his life through music, mixing the cinema history of his compositions (wow, he has been involved in some amazing movie moments), straddled with his famous songs from his time with Oingo Boingo (I miss that time). It was nostalgic, but looking around the audience it was filled with a new generation paying respects to the homage of this man and his band. Although many o the bandmates have moved onto different lives, it was great to see Richard (Danny's brother) in the audience and the celebration he was awarded by so many fans. I highly recommend seeing this concert if it ever comes back, and hope Danny will share it with the country (minus a few of the songs where cursing was the mainstay... it doesn't look good as we age). Keep rocking and entertaining the masses Danny!

You want to do it all againšŸ’

    by Deb on 8/7/23

So this is the second time in a year we have seen Danny Elfman! We waited since 1995 hoping he would tour again. My Husband must have went to every Oingo Boingo concert! I am grateful he introduced me because when you go to Danny's concerts they stay for quite a few days in my soul. It's so magical! Also, what an AWESOME Mentor for being in shape! He's 70 years oldšŸ˜ÆI have no excuses to miss my workouts and if I'm feeling lazy, think of DannyšŸ’ÆšŸ˜ŽšŸ’ŖšŸŒŸ

Danny Elfman at Chula Vista Amphitheater.

    by Audiomoeba on 8/7/23

The concert itself was super good. The venue hadnā€™t even sold half the tickets available. only about 5,500 seats, out of a 25,500 seats available for the venue. This caused them to completely close the Eastern Side of the amphitheater, which made the West Side to get very crowded. There was actually a food vendor on the east side I wanted to get food from, but it was closed, would have also been nice if they had another merch booth on that side, instead of the over crowding of the only merch booth they had at the venue. besides all of that, I really had a great experience at this show, a few songs that I didnā€™t even realize he did.

    It's 1984!

    by WalkingWithADeadManOverMyShoulder on 8/7/23

I saw Oingo Boingo in 1988 (twice) and 1990 in Florida. Had all the albums, knew all the words. SO AMAZING. The first band I really connected with. Cut to 2023! Seeing Elfman in concert brought it all back. OK, yeah, he LOOKS very different. But then, so do I! Also being able to add all the movie soundtracks he's written to the performance was fabulous. By the end of the concert, EVERYONE was on their feet shouting the lyrics to all the Boingo songs. The energy of the crowd was incredible. The visuals were astonishing (great useage of live cameras, special effects and prerecorded footage). I flew to CA from NM, rented a car, stayed in a hotel, bought food, took a train back to NM. I spent over $1500 for me and a friend to see this concert. And baby, it was totally worth it! (There is footage from October 2022 Hollywood Bowl Elfman concert which had about 95% same show, so if you are interested, go find it on youtube!).

    An amazing show!

    by Teresa on 8/7/23

This concert was both visually and musically mind blowing! Hard to believe Danny is 70 years old. Pure genius doesn't even begin to cover the range and depth of his talent.

    Enriching experience

    by IB Fangirl on 8/7/23

It had been 30 years since Danny Elfman performed in San Diego. This performance was extremely entertaining. He rotated between his new songs, his movie and TV scores, and Oingo Boingo songs. All the while, there were great visuals,. He had an orchestra and a choir to perform mainly the scores, but would also assist in some of the Oingo Boingo songs. At one point, Steve Bartek played guitar at the end. It was a great experience!

    Danny the Elfman

    by Little Richard on 8/6/23

Great show! Great venue. Danny Elfman has still got it, I wish he enjoyed your more, but I think I can understand the issues of performing on the road- different venue each night playing similar set lists could become a bummer after a few dozen performances. Loved the show!

    Epic Mash-Up!

    by H. C. on 8/6/23

Iā€™m a huge fan of everything Elfman, so when I heard he was performing a career comprehensive show, I couldnā€™t miss it. I saw him first at the Hollywood Bowl and then in San Diego. These shows may be two of the best concerts Iā€™ve ever been toā€” and Iā€™ve been to quite a few! My only critique is I wish heā€™d played a few more Boingo songs. I have a feeling the majority of the audience would agree with me on this one, given that everyone was on their feet and grooving. Would be incredible to see them all together again; maybe the reception from the Elfman shows will encourage them to reunite for a few. I definitely wonā€™t miss it if he or they head out on the road again.

    Just magic

by Joe concert goer on 8/6/23

I was so happy to get to see this. His work ethic is through the roof. So much stronger than Coachella set, watched live on Youtube during event. Saddened that it was not a sell out, but San Diego fans are not always the best at showing up. This was all fans. People danced, sang and cried. See him if you can, you know it will not be a sell out here in SD.

    Master of Music Danny Elfman!

    by Jane on 8/6/23

Fabulous from the get go! Was so impressed with all the graphics, especially the choir, strings percussion the whole orchestra! As well as the band of course! I was on my feet the whole show! Danny is a Master Artist! I was all teary eyed a couple of times because I was so thrilled to hear him live after all these years! Danny was amazing, not to mention fit as hell! Fabulous show! Thank you for coming to Chula Vista! Xoxoxo

    Danny often was freaking amazing!

    by Claudia on 8/6/23

For the first song, I was completely blown away by the graphics the music, and Danny elfman himself. He looks fantastic, his voice is spot on, and everyone from the orchestra to the chorus to the band itself was extraordinary. I havenā€™t seen a show like that in years. Iā€™m so glad he decided to tour again because we need more talenteed and cutting edge artists like him. Danny Elfman is a genius. I donā€™t knowā€¦ Do you think I liked it?

    Expected 5 star, got 10

by Boat yard San Diego yacht builder on 8/6/23

Thought I'd seen and heard it all until this greatest composer and his amazing orchestra showed me everything from heavy metal to sweet sounds from the Gods. Mr Elfmans arristic ego and single focus has driven him to become the very best on the planet and he simply rewarded his band with a field trip for us to witness and verify. He doesn't need to tour or play oingo songs. He's so far above the pack and his visuals were higher quality, more relavent, better timed then the current touring bands. Plus only days after Pee Wees death, a great tribute was cleverly interlaced and Danny besutifully showed Peewees and his showman influences on each other. Lucky me to have walked 500 yards outside our inland boatyard and taken in such an event. Crowd was amazing too.

    by ElleMonster on 8/6/23

Danny Elfman is pure artistic genius. This show took me to the cinema, to the memories of Halloween in the ā€˜80s at Irvine Meadows and back to the big screen. His voice is better than ever! Incredible show!

    AMAZING SHOW

    by Bailey on 8/6/23

I got these tickets as a bday present for a friend of mine. I didn't expect to enjoy the show as much as I did. What a talent and what a show. Danny Elfman puts on an amazing show.
