Columbus Crew History
The Columbus Crew holds the distinction of being introduced in 1994 as the first of 10 inaugural MLS clubs. In 1999, the club further etched its place in American sports history when it played its first game at the former Historic Crew Stadium, the country's first major-league stadium built specifically for soccer.
On the pitch, the team's first trophy came in 2002, when the Black & Gold won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Crew's first MLS Cup trophy came in 2008 with the team also securing the Supporters' Shield that season led by Argentine midfielder Guillermo Barros Schelotto. The midfielder won the league's MVP award in 2008, and he wrapped things up that season by assisting on all three of the Crew's goals in their victory over the New York Red Bulls in the MLS Cup final. The Crew followed that up by winning the Supporters' Shield in 2009.
In the 2020 season, the club focused on competing globally with the signing of players like Lucas Zelarayan and Darlington Nagbe to add quality, and coupled with veteran talent like Gyasi Zardes team captain Jonathan Mensah, the Crew took home their second-ever MLS Cup trophy. Zelarayan, who had been named the 2020 MLS Newcomer of the Year, registered two goals and one assist against Seattle Sounders FC 3-0, also securing 2020 MLS Cup MVP honors. In 2023, Columbus hoisted the MLS Cup for a third time behind an MVP performance by forward Cucho Hernández.

Columbus Crew at Lower.com Field
The 2022 MLS season marked the first full season for the Crew at Lower.com Field - a dynamic and new soccer-specific stadium in the heart of Columbus in the Astor Park neighborhood.
In 2021, the Black & Gold moved into Lower.com Field, which has a capacity for 20,371 supporters and includes seats that are as much as 28 feet closer to the pitch than any of the seats at Historic Crew Stadium. A defining feature of the stadium is a 220,000 square-foot canopy that covers all supporters during the match, providing shelter from weather conditions throughout the season. The New Nordecke at Lower.com Field is located on the north end of the stadium and is the second-largest supporters section in MLS, with standing-only capacity for 3,364 supporters.
The Columbus Crew’s 2024 regular season kicks off in February at home as the Crew face off against Atlanta United FC. Lower.com Field is a beautiful stadium, and all of the seats seemed to be good views. Loved the energy from the fans and athletes.
Nice stadium well organized, definitely will be back to enjoy the games
When we got to the game, the check in was super easy, we just had to scan our tickets and we went through a security check, and we were in!! Then, our next stop was the Crew shop, everything was worth purchasing! Checkout in the Crew shop was super fast since they were only accepting cards at the time. The game was great, so was the food! I had a great time with my family, will definitely be coming back!
Easy to purchase tickets for the game. Also, the app worked great. Supper easy to add tickets to wallet and to open up to enter the stadium.
It was greatExperience and I love the Columbus Crew
Very nice stadium i had a field ticket and was so close to the players * free beer and food " what else can i ask for 🔥🔥😭😭
I flew back to Columbus from my new home in Florida to see the Crew play in their new stadium. The walk to the stadium was fun with a stop at Betty’s bar for a to go beer thanks to the new DORA law. Entry into stadium was very smooth. The stadium itself is a perfect venue..beautiful, close to the field even with high seats, great sight lines, and fun. The Crew played a great game also. Will fly back for more.
Stadium is great, concessions are great, ticketing is great. Overall amazing experience!
Beautiful stadium. Food service at the Pub was excellent.
The new stadium is absolutely beautiful! We had great seats, and it was a great game with all the goals being scored right in front of us! Can’t wait to go to another.
Everyone should attend a Crew game. It is a great fan experience!!
Watching the Crew play in the new stadium is awesome! Food options were great, easy to get through the gates with mobile ticketing and pre-pay parking made getting in and out of downtown easy.
Great venue for a game. Will definitely be returning when FC Cincy plays there again.
The seats were fantastic, we really loved the atmosphere!
Everything went well in the new stadium. The live music was a pleasant surprise in the beer garden. The only drawback was our seats were in the hot sun until halfway through the 2nd half.
Did not realize Upper Terrace had very limited seating. That said, I did get 4 seats for me and my three boys, however a lady stole them when we got up to use the bathroom even though we had our belongings there to hold our seats. She was very rude when I told her those were our seats and would not move so we stood for the entire game. Not the best experience, but still fun.
The Stadium is Spectacular! The food we tried was delicious! There are a lot of choices. They have a huge Crew Store…we all found some fun clothes. Because of weather…lightening..we had a delay getting in…but once they opening..we got in quickly. We plan on going again…..
