Exciting news for fans going to Buddy’s sold out shows at Palais Theatre, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram has been announced as the support act.
That means they’ll get to see the next generation of American blues artists opening for the last of the greats.
Ingram’s journey began in the 662 in the city of Clarksdale, in Coahoma County, Mississippi, just ten miles from the legendary crossroads of Highways 61 and 49. Born to a musical family, he fell in love with music as a small child, initially playing drums and then bass. At a young age, he got his first guitar and quickly soaked up music from Robert Johnson to Lightnin’ Hopkins, from B.B. King to Muddy Waters, from Jimi Hendrix to Prince, but all the while developing his own sound and style.
Since the release of Kingfish, his Grammy-nominated 2019 Alligator Records debut, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Christone “Kingfish” Ingram has quickly become the defining blues voice of his generation.
662 is the next chapter in the still-unfolding story of Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. He describes 662 as his own personal journey, a story that sits upon the legacy of his influential blues elders. The songs—reflecting his life in and away from his home in the Delta—speak to universal truths, as well as to similar experiences shared by his large and growing multi-generational, multi-cultural fan base. From the blistering, hometown title track, 662, to the irresistible She Calls Me Kingfish to the slow, soulful and poignant Another Life Goes By to the funky truth-telling Too Young To Remember, 662 overflows with hard-hitting songs, jaw-dropping guitar work and deep, soul-possessed vocals. NPR Music says Ingram’s playing is “astounding…it’s almost like he’s singing through the guitar.”
The show was fantastic. Almost spiritual! Loved every second!
Taj and King Fish were fantastic. The seats were too close together and extremely uncomfortable. I would love to see King fish again but will not be able to go because of the seating what a shame.
It’s great to see that the blues are alive and well with this young man carrying the torch. Great band, great performance, great soul!
I had seen some videos and TV clips on Christone but they did not prepare me for the real deal. He was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. He is soooo talented and his band was excellent. I'm so glad I was able to see him in person and hope to follow him for years to come.
very generous player with his 14-year-old prodigy, and nice spirit. The sound was good back at the mix desk, but in the first 30 rows, the bass guitar and kick drum were MUCH too loud, couldn't even hear the guitar sometimes. Sound guys need to walk around the venue and find the best compromise for sound quality, I think they just sat in the back at the mix desk the whole time. Used earplugs after a while, but the bass was uncomfortable on the body. This ain't a rave, it's a blues concert! Strange, because they young guy who played before Kingfish had excellent sound, very well balanced.
It was an excellent show all the around. The talent level was incredible. Great venue as well. We had a blast.
Taj & Kingfish were awesome on the stage. Ft. Mose is an awesome venue under the big oaks. Gotta love the blues! We'll be going back next year for sure!
Exceptional venue, Kingfish and his band were extraordinary performers. Very exceptional in the musical instruments. Very good show enjoyed it very much. Would go again!
Outside in golden state park ! He started out with about 1000 people there- last song I turned around and the entire are was filled with people! On the last song he stopped and with his phone taped the crowd! Outside made is so amazing! I’ll be back ! Hope he plays in Milwaukee summer fest 2024
Show was GREAT (having to stand the whole time was NOT! Won't go back for something with no available seating
I've gone to checking the reviews after wasting a lot of money on bad performers. This guy is a master and so entertaining. The band is also fabulous! Definatley worth seeing before he's so famous you can't afford it.
Kingfish was straight “Cold” !!!! Amazing…. Can’t wait to catch him again
We enjoyed every second of this great musician’s generous, soulful and crazy fun performance at the legendary Antones in Austin!!!
Kingfish writes, plays, and sings like a blues man three times his actual age. He has already mastered so many styles of classic and new blues that you feel like the concert could be twice as long and you'd never hear the same riff twice. He goes back and forth between tried-and-true blues progressions and newer, more unpredictable chord progressions in a ways that are so smooth, you get an understanding of how people hundreds of years ago must have felt the first time they heard Mozart, Beethoven, or Brahms. Kingfish is fantastic on large stages, but if you want the full kick to the musical head, go and see him in a smaller, more intimate venue. You get a great appreciation for what he can due when he's right up on you. Be warned: you won't just see him once. He's an artist that you will be ready to drive HOURS to see again.
Kingfish never fails to deliver - his playing is generational exceptional, his songs are beautifully crafted gems and he delivers them with a true blue(s) voice! Backed by a tight band - and joined by another brilliant up and comer Mathias Lattin...you really cannot do better from a concert experience!
Kingfish was awesome. The venue was just right for this type of show.
Saw Christone at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati last week and his show was memorable! This guy can bring it! What a guitar player! I’ll be sure to see him again.
The Kingfish show was wonderful. This was our first time to attend a concert at The Factory. The Factory was a wonderful facility. It was very handicapped accessible and the staff was absolutely top-notch. They were very willing to move us to different seats to accommodate my husband who recently had knee surgery and could not sit comfortably in the regular seats. I cannot say enough about the great staff and the assistance they provided. We will definitely be back to see other shows there. Whoever designed this facility took into consideration accessibility features that you do not normally see at big concert venues and we appreciated them very much.
Beautiful venue, excellent guitarist with great stage presence. Also loved the keyboardist, a very talented young man.
I first saw him interviewed on TV 60 minutes and became immediately interested in his music and his story. Then I just happened to see that he was performing locally and I had to go him in person. I loved every minute of his performance. His keyboarder was an added bonus who added to the over all show. If you like the blues or just great guitar music you would really enjoy Christone “kingfish “ Ingram.
