Chicago Sky History

The Chicago Sky are an American professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team played their first season in 2006, then qualified for their first postseason in 2013 before advancing to the Finals for the first time in 2014. Initially led by Sylvia Fowles, who won WNBA Defensive Player of the Year twice as a member of Chicago, the Sky experienced more success with 2015 MVP Elena Delle Donne and seven-time league assist leader Courtney Vandersloot. In 2021, the Chicago Sky won their first WNBA Championship with a squad featuring Vandersloot, Finals MVP Kahleah Copper and seven-time All-Star Candace Parker. After the Sky drafted Angel Reese in 2024, the rookie center set the WNBA record for highest single-season rebound average and later earned the league’s Peak Performer honor for rebounds.

  • Thank you

by UDELFan on 5/25/15University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

It's great that the Sky come out every year to UDel. Fans do need to recognize this is about all of the Sky - not just Elena. Seating is tight and if you get a bench seat, prepare your back.

  • Great B-ball Game & Entertainment

by DelawareNana on 5/25/15University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

This U of D venue is so convenient & welcoming. There's plenty of free parking, The seating provides an uninhibited view from any angle. The Sky with Elena Delle Donne & 2 other Delaware natives has been adopted by Delawareans in every corner of the state. This is the 2nd pre-season they've held in DE & both were extremely well-attended. I attended and enjoyed both of them. The games were played well and the entertainment during breaks was really something to see.

  • Great to see EDD in DE

by vkacz on 5/25/15University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

Other than the crazy mess of a line to get into the venue, it was a great overall experience. Either open more entrances or get more people working the doors.

  • Where was EDD?

by DisappointedDelawarean on 5/25/15University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 2 out of 5

Seriously...did Pokey forget the reason why she brings the Sky to Delaware?? Delle Donne! Forget that it is pre-season and she has to try out the newbies. Forget about embarrassing the Liberty with the score. Even they know why the Bob is filled. If we have become Sky fans it is because of Delle Donne! I drove over 2 hours to see this game. Will I go if there is a next time? I just don't know.

  • must see a WNBA game

    by tspoon07950 on 5/25/15University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

This was a wonderful game. It was very energetic. The crowd and fans were loud and nice. I loved the arena and atmosphere. I would definitely return to this arena again.

  • UIC Pavilion Facility

by AnonymousAttendee on 9/20/14UIC Pavilion - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

I enjoyed the game but was mostly distracted by many kids/teens who were not monitored by an adult. UIC Pavilion did a poor job of monitoring these youngsters. This facility did a poor job of door/gate and ticket management as well as slow, poor, lack of staff for ONE concession stand.

  • Big Event Small Venue

by Courten on 9/15/14UIC Pavilion - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Game 3 of the WNBA finals was awesome, although our team lost. It was very entertaining with the drum corps and tumblers. The Chicago Sky definitely gave it the old college try. I would have like to have seen the game at the Allstate Arena, so impressed with the playoff game I attended there. The food lines for the one available food area was way too long to get anything to eat at the UIC Pavillion. I was starving by the end of the game.

  • Sky vs Mercury Finals Game 3

    by LadyVol1959 on 9/15/14UIC Pavilion - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

We had really good seats in the 114 section. I mainly wanted to go and see Della Donne, Fowles, Taurasi, and Griner play, since I used to watch Fowles and Taurasi when they were in college play against TN: they were talented then and even more so now. The game was everything you could ask for- back and forth score leads and a tie with 30 seconds to go. We stayed and watched the awards ceremony and then started the LONG wait in the parking lot to exit. My only complaint about the whole evening- I wish there had been more concession stands.

  • Saw a great game

by Anonymous on 9/15/14UIC Pavilion - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Saw a very exciting game 3 game of the WNBA Finals. Chicago Sky really hung in there and gave Phoenix a run for their money. Thought they were going to pull it out but Phoenix proved too good and were victorious.

The WNBA and Chicago Sky are a must-see for basketball fans. You will not be disappointed.

  • Chicago Sky was FANTASTIC!

by MotheCeo on 9/15/14UIC Pavilion - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

I want to distinguish between the Chicago Sky team and my seats, SEC 4 CC 38/39 that I purchased. Both the Sky and my seat selection was great; however I have two strong complaints. There was only 2 concession stands open. Lines were extremely, extremely long at both. At one concession, at 6:30pm, food was NOT ready - they only had pizza and pretzels ready and the line seemed a mile long. I went to the other concession stand and food was ready, but the line was even longer. This was a "finals play-off game" - this indicated very poor planning for this event/venue. Then my nightmare really began when trying to exit the garage. Only the Congress Street exit was open; Harrison Street exit was blocked. This was not working! Finally after waiting almost 40 minutes to exit, common sense prevailed and the Harrison St. exit was opened. I flew in from BWI - if this is held at UIC ever again, I will NOT attend. Frustration was too high!!

  • The Skyy

    by as007s on 9/15/14UIC Pavilion - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Viewing the Chicago Skyy play the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Championship final was unforgettable. The reality is that we may never be able to afford to see the NBA Championship finals so this filled that void.

  • Chicago Sky double overtime victory!!!

  • exciting sky win

by Gdstewart on 9/4/14Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 4 out of 5

Game was great...unfortunately I wish the venue had the food & drink counters open. Seems every time we go we never know what will be open.

  • Great team and game

    by OIG5 on 8/27/14Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the game and the seats. Would be nice if concession vendors actually game to the AA section to sell cotton candy, etc.

  • Chicago Sky playoffs

by Charpowjr on 8/27/14Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 5 out of 5

My first Sky game was game 2 of the playoffs against the Dream. I took my 15 year old daughter because she LOVES Della Donne and we had a ball. It was her second game but Della Donne DNP so once I seen that they made the playoffs I knew we had to go. We sat in 111 AA 21 and 22 so it was right behind the Dream's bench. We were heckling the ladies(all in good fun) and offering them food and drinks. Even though they lost the game, the food was good, the crowd was pumped and the Sky was GREAT! We won game 3 so see you guys at the Allstate Arena soon.

Had a good time during game , big drawback gates didn't open until 1hr before game. Did not know this information got there 2hrs before and had to sit out outside until allowed in. Traveling from 1 hr away this was disappointing

  • WNBA iis great!

    by shortstuff61 on 8/20/14Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 3 out of 5

I enjoyed going to the game. It was exciting to see the Chicago Sky play, although they lost. Although we were seated in the balcony, we could see all the action on the court; however, the "Jumbotron" helped.

  • Chicago Sky a blast!

    by Bballer999999999999999999 on 8/13/14Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 5 out of 5

Our family went to our first WNBA game last weekend, and I strongly recommend it. It was amazing basketball and the athletes were phenomenal. We took our 11, 9, and 5 year old and they watched the entire game. It helped that our 5 year old was given blow up "bats" that he pounded together the entire game. The crowd was really into the game and the Sky beat a good Atlanta team in a close finish. Get yourself to a WNBA game. It rocked!
