Chicago Sky History

The Chicago Sky are an American professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team played their first season in 2006, then qualified for their first postseason in 2013 before advancing to the Finals for the first time in 2014. Initially led by Sylvia Fowles, who won WNBA Defensive Player of the Year twice as a member of Chicago, the Sky experienced more success with 2015 MVP Elena Delle Donne and seven-time league assist leader Courtney Vandersloot. In 2021, the Chicago Sky won their first WNBA Championship with a squad featuring Vandersloot, Finals MVP Kahleah Copper and seven-time All-Star Candace Parker. After the Sky drafted Angel Reese in 2024, the rookie center set the WNBA record for highest single-season rebound average and later earned the league’s Peak Performer honor for rebounds.

  • Great game, very quiet atmosphere

by JeffNewholm on 9/5/16Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the Sky played a good and entertaining game, as did their opponent the Storm, who don't even have that good of a record this year. Sadly there doesn't seem to much fan support for the Sky, and the game lacked the rowdy/fanboyish atmosphere that I've come to appreciate for NBA and big NCAA games. Also, Rosemont isn't the most hip or happening area of Chicagoland. But ticket prices are quite reasonable, and I think the Sky would make for a fun basketball trip for those with more limited budgets.

I'm 78 years old, so the constant noise level gave me a headache. I would have enjoyed the game, but it was like going to a circus. But, I'm 78 so what doyou expect from me. The high sound level distracted from the game for me.

  • Great Basketball!

This was my second WNBA game and I can't say enough about how impressed I was. The atmosphere was great and the talent level of the players was amazing to watch in person!

This game was AWESOME! Me and my husband and son loved it. We had a great time. The ladies played like the super-stars they are and my team won- Chicago Sky. It was a close game but in the end of over-time we closed it out!!. It was our first time ever at the Allstate Arena and we loved it. The people that worked there was very nice and welcoming! Looking forward to going again:)

  • I had fun

    by dmm4u06 on 5/21/16Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 4 out of 5

Even though I live in here, I was going for the Minnesota Lynx. It was so amazing to see Maya Moore play. But I also was glad I got to see Elena Delle Donne play too. I went alone which wasn't bad because I got to sit next to this old lady and her friends. She told me she plays basketball in a 50+ league. That was pretty cool. Wish I could've gotten an auto graph but it's okay I'm going again next week *thumbs up*.

  • Confusing seating!

    by DF143 on 5/6/16University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 3 out of 5

I was surprised when I arrived at the arena to find that my AA row seats were in the second to the last row in the arena. Row BB is the last row in the house so if you want a seat near/on the floor select row A, B or C. The seating is arranged completely opposite of any venue I've ever attended.

  • I've attended all 3 WNBA pre-season games.

by DelawareNana on 5/5/16University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

This is an excellent venue. Lots of free parking, reasonably priced tickets, nice restrooms & the games are exciting to watch. I will continue to go to these games for as long as they are available. Try it, you'll like it!

  • Game was fabulous

We really enjoyed the basketball game. Elena talking to the fans after the game was the icing on the cake. The music was fun too,

  • Disappointing

    by John1955 on 5/4/16University of Delaware - NewarkRating: 1 out of 5

This is the third year that Elena Delledonne has come to UD with the Chicago Sky for a pre-season game and we have attended all three years. However, this is the last year that we will attend. The main reason for coming was to see Elena Delledonne as it is for all of the people attending as this is Delaware. But she hardly ever played. While I understand that this is preseason and they do not want to expose her to injury, playing only about 8 minutes our of 40 is ridiculous. Hello, this is Delaware, not Chicago. Why else would people be here! The Chicago Sky has to understand that the reason people are there is to see Elena. I'm not saying that she has to play most of the game, but certainly maybe around half the game would be acceptable. That's the whole point of playing at UD, and by her not playing, what's the point in attending. This also happened last year, but this year was much worse and a bunch of people were upset that she was not on the court. In addition, the constant playing of music during play was annoying, distracting and just plain stupid. It totally took away from the experience instead of adding to it. I don't mind music during breaks in the action, but it was as if they felt they needed that to pump people up and all it did was turn people off. They were even playing music while the announcer was speaking, so we couldn't hear what was happening. That was not done in past years, so we will not be going again. They really need to evaluate why they are traveling to Delaware and get their court operations more under control......
