Chicago Fire FC History

The Chicago Fire became one of Major League Soccer’s first expansion teams when it joined ahead of the 1998 season. The Fire pulled off one of the most impressive inaugural seasons across American professional sports when the new squad, coached under Bob Bradley, secured an 11-game winning streak and made a surprise playoff run that culminated in an MLS Cup Final win against the two-time defending champions, D.C. United (where Bradley previously worked as an assistant). One week later, Chicago completed the double-header with their first U.S. Open Cup championship.

The Fire found further success in the early aughts with Bradley and his successor Dave Sarachan, who helped the team secure three more U.S. Open Cup victories in 2000, 2003 and 2006. In addition, the Fire earned the Supporters’ Shield in 2003. All-Star forward Mike Magee became the first player to win the MLS MVP Award while representing Chicago in 2013.

    fire was great

by quick on 7/19/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Crowd control, parking, exit traffic poorly coordinated. Sound amplification ok for rock concert, too loud for soccer game. Need better security...pickpocketed.

by TLee on 7/17/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Our entire family had a great time at the Chicago Fire game. Easy parking for us-so close. Food was acceptable and seats were awesome. Close to the field where you could really see what was going on. Our family 16, 14, 10 had fun!

    Game=Excellent; Staff/volunteers=poor

    by 1stVisit on 7/17/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Crew vs. Fire was an excellent game! Watching the crazy fans was a lot of fun too. But WOW - the staff and volunteers were uninformed, way behind, inconsistent and not knowledgeable at all. We've been to several professional sports stadiums and while the facility is beautiful, the staff/volunteers need to be soooo much better!! The web stated the gates opened two hours before game time. We went to three different gates and received three different opening times. When we finally entered, the food wasn't ready - we were hungry and ready to drop coin at stadium prices and it wasn't ready! Ouch! We had one question regarding transportation at the end of the game and no one could give us a definitive answer. We traveled from another state, spent the weekend in the city and no one could tell us how best to get back downtown. Inform your staff and prep the food folks!

Date night at the soccer field

    by Angela207 on 7/16/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

I bought the tix for my husband for his birthday. We drove to the game from Indianapolis and it was worth the trip. We had a great time. Parking wasn't too expensive and wasn't a far walk. The seats were great for the price. I hope we can go again.

Chicago Fire Soccer is Awesome !!!

by Bibiana on 7/16/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

The Chicago Fire soccer team played a great game vs San Luis. We all had a great time, even our 6 yr old girl that does not like soccer enjoyed the game very much. The stadium is very clean, we had great seats. The bathrooms are also very clean. The food is good stadium food. They have great selection of beer and at a very good price for the size, great selection of Mexican beer.

San Luis succumbs to the Fire

    by fndingjohn24 on 7/15/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

The game was amazing, although I wish more people could have come out and experienced it. I believe that it was a nice change of pace having an international club come into town for a tournament event.

    Great SuperLiga Night!

by ArkansasDave on 7/15/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

I grew up in Chicagoland, but I've lived elsewhere since the 1980's. Used to attend all the Chicago Sting games (indoor and out) and always enjoyed them. After Toyota Park opened, I was waiting for an excuse to make the drive from Arkansas---and a SuperLiga doubleheader was just what I needed. Toyota Park is a great place to watch a football game, and I saw two well-played games. The Chicago Fire defeated Chivas USA in the first, my only disappointment was that both Blanco and McBride were being rested, so I didn't get to see them perform. In the second game, San Luis topped Los Tigres...which also was a disappointment because I count the Tigres as one of my favorite teams. But such is life. It was just an enjoyable evening spent in pleasant surroundings, watching a sport that I love. I'd recommend a Fire game at Toyota Park to anyone who enjoys world football.

    Futball beats Football

by BarneyRubbell on 7/15/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Parking was expensive! The game was good, but we attended the US vs Honduras the following day (really exciting)! The end-zone fanatics were almost as entertaining as the game.

    by Firefan1 on 7/15/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

The game was great! We tailgated in the parking lot for about an hour and then went in to see the game. We had 4th row seats and you could see everything. It was a great game.

    Great Fire Game

by BigFireFan on 7/15/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

Beautiful stadium, great soccer and an enthusiastic crowd made for a great evening watching the Fire with my daughter. Our only disappointment was that Blanco was away with the Mexican National Team and did not play.

    low scoring but exciting game

    by maxx31106 on 7/14/09TOYOTA PARK - Bridgeview

the stadium was out of the way....cab to Bridgeville was expensive and it was quite an experience to ride back home with the bus and then the metro......besides that , we had a blast. I just wish that we won but I guess Houston has a good team. Go Fire Magdy Mikhail
