About

CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

I saw cheap trick in 1976 and a few times over the years, then at emerald queen casino in tacoma on sunday nite, they were every bit as good as the first time I saw them, maybe better, they didn't say where Bun E. was but Rick's son Zak did an excellent job on drums. Will see them again I hope! It was a packed house and everyone was amazed how guy's in there 60's can still kick major butt, I thought only Nugent could pull that off!

  • Cheap Trick Always Delivers

by dcubedwa on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show. The guys played songs I haven't heard them do in some time. Missed Bun E on the drums but Rick's son Dax did a fantastic job. Robins voice is flawless and he can still hit the high notes in songs like The Flame and they still look like they are having fun. Venue is smoky and I wish the VIP area had not had seats so far out to the sides that it was hard to see despite paying extra.

  • Cheap Trick 36 Years Rockin!

by MTKSeaTac on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

Truly amazing these guys can still kick it out with old and new material, plus play 1 hour and 40 minutes nonstop.

  • Cheap Trick is a class act!

by Bastard on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Cheap Trick for the first time in the early 80s in Nebraska. This was my 8th or 9th Cheap Trick show and they still rock! The guys seem to be well adjusted to their place in the rock and roll world. They continue to give the crowd the hits they want to hear with powerful, kickass versions of Surrender but mixing in songs like Need your Love really adds to the show. I can't wait to see them again.

  • Cheap Trick was short

by KMPTW on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

I thought with years of material and starting so early the event would last a little longer so was a bit bummed about that but the music and performance was great!

  • Where was drummer Bun E. Carlos

    by Forty5455 on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

Robin's vocals stiil good. Rick still zany.Very cool amplifier cases with lights in them. Love his many guitars and attire. Great to see Mike McCready of Pearl Jam join them on stage for "Surrender". Tom's 12 string bass was very showy. got our $'s worth. Sat in 3rd row.

  • Cheap Trick was great, Emerald Queen.. not so much

    by Podman387 on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

The band sounded very tight. Rick Nielson's son was drumming, and he is every bit as good (maybe better) than the original drummer Bun E. Carlos. The band stuck pretty much with the hits, with the exception of a couple of tunes from their new album. Robin Zander''s voice was really strong. Tom Petersson provided a unique and powerful bass presence, playing a 12 string electric bass the whole evening, and Rick Nielson was great as always on lead guitar. Mike McCready from Pearl Jam jumped onstage for "Surrender", and it was cool to see how much he seemed to genuinely enjoyed jamming with his elders. The disappointment of the night for me was the venue. The Emerald Queen showroom is pretty boring, one big flat room with seats placed in rows throughout. Since there is no slope or terrace to the room, you are pretty much out of luck if you are vertically challenged and you end up behind a six footer. The sound was pretty good, but the video feed was not linked up to the live sound, so even though you could see better by looking at the video screen, the lack of syncopation with the live sound made it annoying. For $55.00 a ticket, I expected much more. Bottom line, Cheap Trick still rocks, but that is the last dime that I will spend at the Emerald Queen Casino.

  • Straight up classic kick-butt Rock.

by Anonymous on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

I judge a band by how well they sound compared to the MP3, IPOD,CD,TAPE,8TRACK,ALBUM,ETC... These guys can still bring it. Well worth the money.

  • Cheap Trick rocked the joint

by arielrising on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

This show was above my expectations by far. I had some doubts because of the venue, but these guys sounded awesome. Long live Robin Zanders voice! That guy still has it. The guitars and the guitars and the guitars. I am a gal who loves guitars and guitar players. Overall, I loved the show and hope that these guys keep on rockin'.

  • Cheap Trick still has the ENERGY!!

    by redu230 on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing concert. You could feel how much they LOVE doing what they do! The new songs are as great as the oldies!

  • Great show for fans!!

    by illini94 on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

This was not a greatest hits show!! It featured a song I had never heard live before (and I have been to over 50 CT shows) - "Way of the World"; and one I haven't heard since my first show in 1981 - "Baby Loves to Rock". They also played several rarely played tunes, and I loved it!! Great show guys!! Rick's son Daxx was on drums last night in place of Bun E Carlos, there was no explaination where Bun E was, so I hope he is doing ok. He didn't play the past show a couple years ago at EQC either...does he not like the great NW?? :)

  • Cheap Trick

One of the most underrated bands around. Sound great and still look great. Wish they would have played longer.

  • Cheap Trick at the EQC

by Curlystooge on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

As usual, an outstanding performance! Only wish they would have identified the guest who joined them briefly on stage. Also.. the drummer was awesome, but what happened to Bun E.?

  • Cheap Trick rocks!!!

    by woody24 on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show, they played Need your Love which was incredible, very rare song played live.

  • Sounded too good to be live, but it was!

by Anonymous on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

Saw them in concert 5 years ago and they were much better this time around. The only thing that disappoints me is that you have to be 21 to go to the show. My daughter would have loved to go, but is only 15. Yes, there is a new generation of Cheap Trick fans! We did buy her a t shirt, that she will be proudly wearing at school.

  • Incredible show! A must see!!!

by AlanFr on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

This is one band you should see! The Band played classic material and even new songs. After all this time they still have it, energy and great sound. This show brings the kid out in you and makes you just want to dance and sing along! If you get the chance to see them you should do it, you won't be disappointed!

  • Cheap Trick rocks

by Englerth on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

For the amount of people who showed up it was exciting as the band was loud. The musicians played well and mixed their music from old to current. The guitar player was entertaining from playing different guitars to his interaction with the audience. I noticed the original drummer was not present but his fill in did well. It was a surprise to see the guitar player from Pearl Jam come out and play. Way to go Cheap Trick.

  • Cheap Trick

    by PDQ1234 on 3/29/10Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaRating: 4 out of 5

They were great! Robbin seemed a little tierd but the old man on guitar hasn't lost a step!!! As for the venue, the Emerald Queen security staff was agressive. If you had your cell phone out to take a picture they were all over you.... Come on it's cheap trick, they have been around for 35 years.

  • too loud, distorted, not enough classics

by JAluvsPH on 3/22/10Harrah's Casino - Atlantic CityRating: 2 out of 5

Way too loud for the room, which was Harrahs Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. The sound level is one thing, but it was very distorted. It really drowned out Robin Zander's vocals. Only heard a handful of classics. Of course they played Surrender, I want you to want me, the Flame and Dream Police. They have so many great songs in their catalog. I just wanted to hear more of those radio hits. I'm not a hard core fan that knows all of their non-greatest hits stuff, but I heard others with the same comments. The free casino band at the bar outside of the room was almost as entertaining and even played a few Cheap Trick songs well enough to take a bite out of the real thing. I go to many shows at the casinos because they almost always sound great and it's a bit more cozy than an arena. I know how good these shows can sound, and this show was just disappointing. Can't say I hated it, but I definitely wouldn't go to see them again.

  • Cheap Trick At the Potawatomi Northern Lights Thea

    by Joem3 on 3/13/10Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick is a great band to see anytime especially in a small venue like the Northern Lights Theatre in Milwaukee, WI. They usually play multiple dates and change the setlist around so your not seeing the same show 2-3 time. There is not a bad seat in the theatre, however everyone sits down during the performance and security is pretty tight. Cheap Trick played all there hits and some new songs. No opening act and the show was over by 9:30 p.m. I have seen Cheap Trick well over 100 plus times and never miss the oportunity to see them when they come around. If you seen them several time or have never seen them, I highly suggest the show. No one will be disappointed.
