CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • Robin is the best lead singer in the business

by DiamondDee on 6/6/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick was awesome again - I began seeing them in the 80s and I just can't believe how consistent Robin is on lead vocals. Songs choice was great - they have so many great songs - they do a good job of mixing old with new.

  • Amazing

  • High energy show -- Outstanding!

by ORLGATOR on 6/6/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Cheap Trick more than 20 times over the past 30 years. They always put on a good show, but this time was different. They were more energetic, their arrangements were tighter, and they were clearly having a great time with the crowd at Orlando's HOB. Their touring drummer, Daxx Nielsen, was an adrenaline shot for the band. They played some old songs I hadn't heard before from their first few albums, and they sounded terrific! Every year when they come around I think they will slow down and it might not be the same, but they far exceeded my expectations -- worth the admission at any price!

  • Very Disappointing

by MinHeb on 6/5/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 1 out of 5

We've been to many Cheap Trick concerts. Last night's performance of House of Blues was extremely disappointing. The opening act was bad, and we only made it through 5 or 6 Cheap Trick songs before leaving. Played new stuff that didn't "do it" for us.

  • Still Rockin'

by Anonymous on 6/5/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Cheap Trick still delivers a wonderful show. The music was a mix of classic and newer songs, all delivered with high energy and passion for what they obviously love doing - performing! If only House of Blues offered more seating options. I like the size of the venue, as well as the intimacy, but I would pay more for reserved seating on the main floor if it had been an option.

  • cheap trick does not disappoint!

Really enjoyed the up close environment and I'd love to see more classic rockers in that same venue...not often you get to be that close up. Me and my two friends who haven't been to a concert for Cheap Trick in 27 years together, since back in Boston and have got together after all these years gone by, went back to the early 1980's for two hours and we had a blast! We went back and got younger last night along with Cheap Trick and thought that we were 20 years old again...and we didn't skip a beat, as if we were together since the 80's, but it was a 27 year reunion that was unforgettable. The only disappointment was that we would have preferred that they drop three songs during the middle of the concert and replace them with Voices, Ain't that ashame, and I want you to want me. Would have been 5 stars if these 3 songs were played! Oh, and of course we were disappointed not to have Bun E. Carlos on drum.

  • Cheap Trick Rocks

by Shredagru on 6/5/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

House of Blues is the perfect venue for this band. I've seen them in everything from stadiums to etc... but this was the bomb for them!

  • Orlando HOB

by TampaTrickFan on 6/5/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

One of the most energetic performances that I have ever seen from the band. Fresh song list and Daxx Neilsen really adds a lot of punch in regard to the drums. Great Show!

  • Cheap Trick rocked the House!

by Mike183 on 6/5/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Friday nights concert at the House of Blues in Orlando was awesome. Cheap Trick never fails to put 200% of their energy into a show and this was no exception. Rick Nielsen is an guitar god and his ever changing selection of axes is phenomenal. Robin Zander still blows away the vocals and the 12 string bass played by Tom Petersson, that's a sound like no other. Bun E. Carlos was not with the group, but the drummer (I apologize for not remembering his name) was kick-__s! Great show, great crowd, and great venue.

  • Cheap Trick delivered!!

by TRIXSTER1 on 6/5/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

As usual the boys from Rockford delivered a great evening! The intimate setting of The House of Blues was a great place to see Cheap Trick. The mix of old and new tunes was just right. Of course there were a few tunes I wished they had played. but if they had we'd still be there Rock'n!

  • Cheap trick; ultimate experience!!

by omsgirl on 6/5/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Though I wasn't impressed with the venue too much, Cheap Trick was amazing in their performance as usual. Only complaint was the sound wasn't too clear for me , I did wear earplugs, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. It could be that it was a small place for a concert too, I don't know. Reguardless, it was so nice to see Cheap Trick play a headlining show, usually I find that they are the opening act for another band equally or less entertaining. This was my first time at the HOB, so I had a hard time finding the place. Waiting outside to get in was a little hard, so hot outside, I am just glad that it wasn't raining at the time before they let us in. There is very little places to sit down' although I did ask security to bring me a chair and he did but I had to sit down in the stage area . Once I had my chair I could enjoy the show; ( I had just arrived from work in Tampa & had been on my feet all day , so the chair was welcomed ) Good food. Friendly staff, but I would rather see Cheap Trick at Ruth Eckerd Hall instead.

  • I WANT YOU!

Is there really a bad seat in the house? I mean, it's Cheap Trick, they always put on a good show. Zander's voice was spot on and all those shiny instruments!

  • cheap trick was awesome

  • WAITING FOR 2011

by HOTDICE on 5/6/10Koka Booth Amphitheatre At Regency Park - CaryRating: 5 out of 5

This show was highly anticipated by us as we had gone to the 2008 one. I knew that Alan White would have his usual top drawer band assembled and boy did they rock from A to Z. Tom Bowes' performance as lead singer was fantastic. Cheap Trick? I didn't anticpate the performance to be as great as it turned out to be. Overall, +++.

  • Brilliant

by JeffGB on 5/3/10Koka Booth Amphitheatre At Regency Park - CaryRating: 5 out of 5

Is Cheap Trick the best garage band ever? Maybe, Maaaybe. They're certainly scrappy live and it helps that their new album is pretty darn good.

  • Dave Mason...the icon

by KEHJNTKKIEHTJK on 5/3/10Koka Booth Amphitheatre At Regency Park - CaryRating: 3 out of 5

I loved seeing Dave Mason. He definitely still has it. The All-Star Band was amazing. Enjoyed "Back in Black"!
