CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • Cheap Trick at LC in Cols, OH

by mikedcols on 7/10/10Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 2 out of 5

The band sounded great, but only played about 75 minutes and maybe 3 hits. Show started about 9:15pm and was done around 10:30pm. Heck, I thought they were just taking a set break or something and it was over!

  • Cheap Trick is Awesome

Cheap Trick put on an awesome show last night in Columbus. Everyone was rockin! This was my first Squeeze show; I thought they were fantastic.

  • Great show! Still rock after all these years!

    by Freighttrain75 on 7/10/10Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Both bands were great. Squeeze played all these best songs and then Cheap Trick was still amazing! Very high energy show. The crowd was really pumped.

  • Cheap Trick Rocks!

by tlc65 on 7/7/10Grand Ballroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The Cheap Trick show at the Talking Stick Resort (used to be Casino Arizona) in Scottsdale, AZ.. was AMAZING!! They played so many of their most popular hits and some of the lesser known stuff too (those are my favorite CT songs btw) and everything in between with so much energy, enthusiasm, and a great sense of fun. For me, the show was nothing short of spectacular!!! My husband was an 'armchair fan' prior to the concert but he's a BIG fan now. They converted him before the end of the first 2 songs lol. All that talent and brilliance simply shines with a power that lit up the faces of every person in the room, from the lucky ducks in the front rows to the person in the farthest corner! I would happily pay again and again for such fantastic entertainment! If you want to enjoy some awesome rock and see real talent at work, go see Cheap Trick. They won't disappoint!!

  • Cheap Trick rocks!

by desertwildflower on 7/4/10Grand Ballroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The band sounded amazing and it was nice to see them perform a longer set than last year when I saw them. Good balance of old and new songs. I wish they could have played for another hour, as they have so many memorable songs. Cheap Trick is always a fun band to see, so I hope they return soon.

  • Less than great

by soqsadd on 7/4/10Grand Ballroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 2 out of 5

Was really excited to see them for the first time. The venue sucked!! Accoustics were awful and the "resort" was not completed. The restaurants had such a long wait, even arriving almost 2 hours early, we ended up ordering a burger and sitting in a Keno lounge to eat it among the smokers! I suppose a gig at a casino, i should not complain, but, VIP seats...NOT! There were SO many people standing in front of us in the walkway, that I had trouble seeing (I am 6'2'' tall) and even dancing to the music...beer and other spirits spilled all over me AND bad acoustics! I would love to spend the money again at a different venue and try to Hear a great band" once again!

The show was good...but where was the original drummer, Bun E Carlos? Not sure I would have spent the money & attended the show if I knew before hand all of the original members of Cheap Trick were playing except for Bun E Carlos, the Band's original drummer.

  • Cheap Trick Still Rockin!!!!!

by DaddyMax on 7/4/10Grand Ballroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

CT was awesome. Sound quality as good as ever with these guys. You can always hear Robin vocals nice and clear. Tom was awesome on bass! Rick changed guitar every song. Rick's son Dax played drums in place of Bun E and his energy was amazing. Just a great night. Only played 1 1/2 hours and there was no opening act. Venuw was in a ballroom so seats were all on the floor no like at normal concert venue. Because of this I only gave 4 stars overall! Cheap Trick deserved 5 STARS!!!! Still the best band live!

  • by Anonymous on 7/4/10Grand Ballroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great fun! Cheap Trick is still as tight as ever and completely showed up for the performance. I would do it again or recommend it without hesitation!

  • Cheap trick have still got it!

An excellent performance and great venue! You will never be disappointed with a cheap trick concert :-)

  • Fun nostalgia

by BoSox2010 on 7/4/10Grand Ballroom at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

They played most of the hits, and added a bunch of new songs (one good new one, a couple mediocre). Main set ended with Surrender, which sounded amazing. But with a 90 minute set, they shouldn't have done the obligatory encore...should have just stayed on stage. They made a strange encore choice of some bizarre solo filled song which took away from the energy of Dream Police right before it, but recovered with Goodnight. Good time overall with some amuzing shameless self-promotion for their new album.

  • Could of been one of the best!!

by Marcolake on 6/15/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

The show first four songs rocked the place and set up what could of been the best concert of "8" i've seen. Unfortunately, they chose to do slower, lesser known songs that lost the momentum. If they had added "Shes tight", "If you want my love you got it", "Stop this game', or many other faster ones the show would of been my favorite!!!-But is wasn't-Of the eight times i saw this what could of been #1 ended up being number 5 of 8. I was standing behind the control board and you don't realize how close this fat drunk guy almost fell in the pit, which would of caused a major disruption and probably many fights and possible end of show. Security needs to watch these people, especially that close to the controls with him waving his arms and falling around. Cheap trick is a great band and one of my favorites.

  • Cheap Trick were Awesome!

by Tailsof on 6/11/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

How often do you get to see one of your favoutire bands when on your holidays, never! well our luck was in, House of Blues Orlando, Cheap Trick. What a great gig, as perfect as they always are, included Heaven tonight in the set, very rarely played, plus stuff from the new album, cannot wait to see them in November and if anyone out there has not bought tickets for the London or other UK gigs yet, then do it, do it now!!!!

The best I've ever seen them since 1989. AMAZING show but did miss Bun E Carlos on the drums.

  • Cheap Trick is wanted!

by CheapTrickgal on 6/7/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

They were definitely awesome as they were back in the '70's! We were not allow cameras as I would have had very good pic shots from where I was standing. Met some great guys who didn't mind me hanging out with them!

  • Cheap Trick at House of Blues

by MaximoKid on 6/7/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. The band did a great job. They played new songs and well as songs from the very first album. I feel sorry for anyone who missed this great show. Very good interaction with the audience.

  • We were all 16 again

by Stunted on 6/7/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I haven't been to a concert--a real concert--in 20 years. Last saw Steppenwolf in Tallahassee. Cheap Trick, thought not my favorite band, was awsome. They really belted out the tunes. I'd glad I went; it was a surprise gift for my wife on our 20th annaversary. we both were blown away by the excitement, the venue, and the band.

  • Another Great Show From Cheap Trick

by Snapsnapboy on 6/7/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a Cheap Trick fan for 30 years and they're always an incredible live band. The show at Orlando House of Blues was no exception. They seemed to be energized & having a blast. They played a nice variety of songs including three from their 1977 debut album (Hot Love, Cry Cry & Ballad Of TV Violence). It's always a treat to hear the early tunes which are so raw & hard rockin'. I was disappointed that Bun E. Carlos was missing from the lineup but Dax Nielsen (guitarist Rick Nielsen's son) did a great job filling in. The set list consisted of 20 songs & the show ran about 90 minutes.

  • by sterling430 on 6/6/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

They just get better every time I see them. HOT!!!
