CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • What a great show

by Will in Goodyear on 10/6/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show in a small venue. We were just feet from the stage and Cheap Trick put on a great show. Robin sounded amazing and it was great to see his kids perform at the concert as well. First time seeing them in concert and the venue at Shadow horse pass was nice as well.

I really enjoyed listening to this band which played some great classics!! I really like all Rick's "unique"guitars that reveal his character and personality!

  • Another Great Show

Cheap Trick is one of the best rock and roll bands of all-time (in my opinion). 50+ years and dozens of songs I would cheer to hear at any show. This was my 9th CT show over the course of almost 40 years. I heard two of my favorite songs that I don't think I've ever heard them play live. So, that was a reason to celebrate. Obviously, the band is no longer in the 20s or 30s. However, there was still enough energy and musical prowess to carry the night. I would go again next tike they are in town. I tray to make every headline show. For better or worse, they do a lot of opening slots on bigger tours, but seeing them do a longer set in a smaller room makes for a way better evening. Also, great venue in the Showroom at Wild Horse Pass Casino and Hotel.

  • disappointiing!!!

by Loretta Milghers on 8/20/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 1 out of 5

First off, we didn't hear music, it was all noise. We couldn't understand a single word anyone was singing. We sat through two songs then left. We were so disappointed as we love Cheap Trick

  • Cheap Trick Rocks!

by Anibird on 8/14/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Wow, absolutely amazing show! I saw Cheap Trick several times back in the 70s, they rocked as hard and solid as they did back then! Vocals, guitars, rhythm, all tight. Lost track of how many different guitars Rick played, think it was a different one every song. Kept the road crew busy! I'd definitely see them again. And again. And again!!

  • Good show

by Mikefico on 8/12/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Just a good rock in Roll show. Fun to hear all the hits. Rick was in good form. I still can't believe Robin sings all those songs every night.

Show was awesome!!! Cheap Trick never disappoints!

  • They rock

by Chooch55 on 8/8/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

If you haven't seen Cheap Trick, you are missing out. They put on a fantasic show and absolutely rock. Robin's vocals are still strong, Rick is still an amazing guitarist and has so much fun. The whole band seems to enjoy performing. While they certainly aren't young, they perform like they are 20 years younger, definitely a band I would have loved to see in their prime.

  • It was a fair concert at best

by Dinna on 8/8/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 3 out of 5

What made it not so enjoyable was the sound system. Way too loud. You couldn’t even hear what songs were playing. Just bad sound.

  • Classic Rock

by Karen on 8/8/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while they were all on point Sound was amazing played all the great songs wish it could’ve gone on longer

  • It was okay

Would have preferred to hear more of their most popular songs and fewer lesser-know ones.

  • Showmanship at its finest

by Shout on 8/7/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Cheap Trick probably had more hit than Bruce Springstein, so they put on a top notch show that was worth seeing. If you are a groupie you probably lost your hearing a couple of hundred shows ago. The sound at the Mohegan Sun Arena was huge as in loud and out of balance. Both the guitars and the drums which were no doubt excellent, totally drowned out the vocals. So, basically you may know some or even more of the words for their hits, but there is no way you can actually hear them over the music. Some say it's deliberate or that's what rock should be or used to be, I prefer more balance, and not just loud for the sake of loud.

  • Cheap Trick at Mohegan Sun

Such a fun night! My husband’s birthday weekend. We love Cheap Trick and they came out with high energy and a great set. Such fun seeing which guitars Rick was going bring out next. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

  • Too short

by Jim on 8/7/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 1 out of 5

Paid almost $200 per ticket and they only played for 1 hour then came back for a 2 song Encore. The sound mix was awful. A very disappointing night

Paid 140.09 for tickets. Mohegan Sun was giving out free tickets. The people next to me got free seats. I paid 140.09. Go figure

  • Still Rocking Hard in their 70s!

by Dan B on 8/7/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick still rocking hard in their 70s (Daxx Nielson of course has a way to go but an awesome drummer!) Robin, Rick and Tom put on an incredible tight show for 90 minutes. They played songs from their whole catalog, and it was truly a great sounding set. Glad I got to see them when they weren't an opening band so could hear all those great songs again. Keep on rocking Cheap Trick!

  • Cheap Trick

50 years and counting. This band hasn't slowed down! Great concert as always with this band. My 33rd CT show. Very underrated band. Never gets the respect they deserve!

  • Great classic rock band!!

by Fingers 86 on 8/7/24Mohegan Sun Arena - UncasvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick put on a great show. They played many old tunes and some newer ones. They can still rock out even given their ages in early 70's minus the drummer who is the guitarist son. I'm so happy to get to see them. The only downside to the concert was that it could have been longer but nonetheless they put on a great show!!!

  • fantastic time
