About

CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • Seeing Cheap Trick Live is Amazing

by Joyce EJWI on 2/22/25Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick is my favorite band and they haven't lost a step. It's astonishing how well they perform, not surprising considering they've been doing it for decades. People who have heard their live albums praise them for their greatness - go see them because you really can't catch that energy on a recording advice. Already planned to see them again.

  • They still got it!

by Class of 84' on 2/21/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Night Ranger, Loverboy and Cheap Trick all played great! All the bands have really held up over the decades and I was completely satisfied with their performances.

  • Great sounding band still today

  • Change up the Acts

by 80’s Rocker on 2/19/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

I wish the venue would have mentioned the doors open at this time and show starts at this time. We missed part of Night Ranger because the lines were long outside to get in. What we saw was Night Ranger was the best act out of all three and THEY should have been the headliner. Cheap Trick brought the energy towards the end of their performance but they had some moments when it seemed like the crowd was sleeping. Night Ranger had the crowd on their feet, dancing, singing and brought the energy. Loverboy was so so. They had a few good songs but again, nothing like NR. Overall it was OK and if these three play together again, I hope they change up the lineup and some of the songs.

  • Opening Band Dominated

by Richie L. on 2/19/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

I have to say Cheap Trick did'nt sound that good, and they should have played more of their hits. Night Ranger was awesome. Loverboy needs to hang it up.

  • Cheap Trick @Thunder Valley

by Raymond on 2/19/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

Very disappointed. Could not connect WiFi service to my phone at Thunder Valley Casino, so was not allowed to attend concert on Feb.15, 2025. Quite frustrating, too.

  • What are these songs they are playing?

by Disappointed on 2/19/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

Everyone looking around at each other dismayed. Wondering, how much longer are they going to continue playing songs no one knows? The answer is: about an hour. Ugh!! I’ve seen them many times before and always felt they did a fine job. Never again. Their only saving grace was the new kid on guitar who voiced over all the lead vocals, had fun and played with enthusiasm.

  • No Energy

by Sacto King on 2/19/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

The show had no energy, no production value., and was basically boring. I have a lot of respect for Cheap Trick and have enjoyed their music and performances over many years but if they don’t feel like touring anymore, they should just stop. Thank goodness Night Ranger and Loverboy kicked ass and had the whole crowd loverboy which made cheap tricks, lack of energy and involvement, even more obvious.

  • Great Performers!

by Karen on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing lineup and the show did not disappoint. I am so glad I got to go. Nightranger opened and they put on such a great set, they could have easily been the headliners in my opinion. I saw them a couple of years ago on the 80's Cruise and they haven't changed they are still top tier musicians and their songs are classic rock and roll hits. Then came Loverboy, who I was supposed to see on the 80's cruise in 2020, but you know, it was 2020. I'm so glad you guys decided to follow me back to Sacramento and give me such a great show! Finally, Cheap Trick. I was very impressed with the quality of their show, their voices and stage presence. I never got to see them back in the day and I feel very fortunate I got the chance. We had great seats with a perfect view from Row 202, and I love that there is a bar very nearby because the lobby area gets really crowded to get drinks and use the restrooms. My only complaint about The Venue is there is no option to stand and dance along. Unless multiple people in your section will do it too, you feel compelled to sit so you don't block others' view. And the ushers are dead serious about keeping you out of the aisles. It is hard as an 80's rocker to just sit there like my Grandma would. I am hoping Thunder Valley will create some small space for that in future. It is the only thing I miss from when the shows were outside in the parking lot.

  • Wonderful evening!

by Mel on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

An absolutely fantastic show! The bands couldn't have sounded any better and I was immediately transported to the 80's.

  • A dud

by Rockdude on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

We enjoyed Night Ranger and Loverboy but didn’t like Cheap Trick. It was boring and lacked energy. Their guitarist wasn’t impressive— sounded like annoying noise not music. His one handed pull-off/hammer-on trick was a yawner. We and many others (I noticed) left after the 4th/5th song.

  • Third Act Disappointing

by Slynn on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

Night Ranger & Loverboy were fantastic. We left during song one or two during Cheap Trick, as did many others.

  • Loved the set - great deep oldies!

by Michelle from Castro Valley on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Great show with lots of energy. Loved the song choices. Night Ranger and Loverboy were grear too but Cheap Trick amazing!

  • Awesome as always!

by scenestealreric on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick is a national treasure—a working band for 60 years with a deep catalogue and they keep making great new records. Live, they never disappoint, and often play entirely different sets so you can keep going back again and again and having a good time. They also still rock like a ton of bricks!

  • Cheap Trick at Thunder Valley.

by Mookdog on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

Cheap Trick should have been the opening act for Night Ranger and Loverboy and not the headliner. Not overly impressed.

  • Very Disappointed

by Jimmy J on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

Night Ranger and Loverboy were great. The audience stood, singing, and dancing. Cheap Trick took the stage and the volume was over 100 decibels. They didn't play but one top song out of the first five. The audience started streaming out of the casino complaining about Cheap Trick. Some comments were the guitar player was way too loud, and intense, and the mix was very poor. We all left as well. Disappointing.

  • Disappointed

by Timmaayy on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

Headliner Cheap Trick was a bit disappointing. I’m a fan, but only recognized a few songs. Other fans may disagree with me but it felt they just cashed a check and bye. No interaction with the crowd (4k person) amphitheater. The background screen was boring and lack of movement by the band members didn’t garner excitement. Now Loverboy was the second act and they were really good. Knew all the songs and front man Mike Reno can still belt the lyrics. Had fun with them However, the first act was Night Ranger. They stole the whole show from the beginning. Major interaction with the crowd. Awesome back screen which displayed old video from their early days from 1982 or so as they played. Light and smoke show was great. All five band members at one point were all playing the drums with Kelly Keagy, the drummer. They should have been the headliner. So, I would give Cheap Trick a ‘C’. Loverboy a ‘B’ and Night Ranger an ‘A+’. The review asked me to write about Cheap Trick. I wrote about the whole show. The two star rating was for Cheap Trick.

  • All around a great concert

by LSM on 2/18/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

First time at The Venue at Thunder Valley and it is a great place to see a concert. I love Cheap Trick and it was my first time seeing them and they didn’t disappoint but Night Ranger was the band of the evening sounding great and they had a lot of energy. Loverboy was alright but they had zero energy to their performance. My wife and I will definitely be going back in the future to see a show at The Venue.
