About

CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

The still know how to rock.

    by Pooher on 8/10/23

Good concert, could have been louder (OC Fair sound restrictions). Played all the hits, some were a little rough but that's ok.

The magnetism of Robin Zander, the charisma of Rick Nielsen

    by Sammy B on 8/10/23

C’mon c’mon… it’s Cheap Trick. The greatest rock n roll show in America and they never disappoint. 75 minutes with a hard curfew at 10pm and that’s what you get. Nothing fancy, no pyro, just guitars and the greatest voice in rock music.

Cheap Trick always delivers the goods.

    by Hambodie on 8/10/23

Cheap Trick is America's greatest rock and roll band. They always put on a top notch show and tonight was no exception. From the opening of Just Got Back to the ending Good Night they showed us what it takes to be a rock band with a strong history full of songs that have stood the test of time that we all know by heart. Robin's vocals have not waivered a bit and Rick may be on of the most unrated guitarist there is. We were all alright, just a little weird as we surrender to their rock and roll spell.

An Amazing Show by Cheap Trick and The Tubes

    by Bryan on 8/10/23

I was very happy with the event as a whole. Venue is easy access, parking is reasonable, food and beverage weren't way over priced. IMHO, a fun event starts with the venue and Pacific Amphitheatre gets it right. The Tubes put on a show full of their hits and a couple deep dives. The band was in great spirits and they seemed to be having a great time. Fee Waybill was especially happy with the Llama that came into the grass area to eat and listen. I'd be up for another Tubes show! Cheap Trick was awesome. I've been wanting to see them for decades and they did not disappoint. Robin, Rick, and Tom looked great and sounded great too and I think it's cool that Robin and Tom have their sons also playing in the band. What a blast it must be to play with family and experience touring together. Robin's son even did lead vocals on a classic and sounded just like his pop. If you get a chance to check either band out, I think you'll get great entertainment and music.

    Amazing show!

    by Underdweller on 8/10/23

We love the Pacific Amphitheater and what a great venue for The Tubes and Cheap Trick!! They were both so good! If someone ever says people i their 70s can’t rock, they have no idea what they’re talking about.

    Still Amazing!!

    by Fizz Fam on 8/10/23

Cheap Trick Live show was amazing!! They sound the same if not better than back in the 80's (last time we saw them live). The vocals were stong, clear & on point and the Band absolutely rocked! LOVE, that both orig bandmembers son's are now part of this iconic band. The sound was richer and we loved the show!

    Classic Rock Show!

    by Chuck on 8/10/23

We really enjoyed the evening. The Tubes opened up and Fee Waybill is still a showman into his 70’s. They played the hits, very well. The band was great. Cheap trick only played for 75 minutes, but it was great. They played a few of the early songs that aren’t usually in the set. Robin’s son has been added to the band and Tom Peterson is back after being away for a while. They sounded great and the crowd enjoyed the show. Singing the words to most songs and cheering loudly. For an Orange County crowd, that’s saying something. See your favorites while you can!

Rock and Roll needs to be LOUD

    by Richard on 8/10/23

The bands were great, but for a live rock concert, I found the volume to be lethargic. Live Rock and Roll needs to be blasted.

    Show Nearly Stolen

    by Timb42 on 8/10/23

Cheap Trick is always a reliable live band. Excellent musicianship, high energy, and great fun. This performance was no exception. However, The Tubes proved to be just as wonderful act. As an opener, they certainly stole some of the headliners thunder.

    Great Show

by C Desert Man on 8/10/23

Great show. The venue was good, it hasn't changed much over the years. It was funny to see livestock in the grassy area inside the arena.

    The Orange County Fair

    by Ruben on 8/10/23

Cheap Trick was phenomenal. They sounded great, the problem was the facility, the Orange County Fair. At no time did the OC Fair state they would be closed on 9/7/23. Also the OC Fair closed at 10pm so Cheap Trick could only play 15 songs.

    They can still deliver

    by Coach Ken on 8/10/23

Monday evening, the weather was nice the company was great ( my girlfriends first real concert) the facility was nice, the Pacific Amphitheater is a nice midsized facility, clean, nice people, good sound and lots of food and drink. Then the entertainment, Gotta admit The Tubes were a pleasant surprise, fun, energetic, all round entertainment, a nice 45 minute set. Cheap Trick delivered a fun, well paced albeit brief ( hour 15 minutes) set) a lot of the hits, a few forgotten gems and worked the crowd. You can tell she is catching up, Ricks son Zack has replaced Bun E Carlos on the drums and Robins son has been added as an additional guitar player and vocalist to help his dads aging vocals but none of the distracts from the actual reason for being there, enjoying the evening of fun music and good company, it was a good time.
