About

CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • Cheap trick rocked as they always do.

by Kimberly on 4/19/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

The band was excellent, the people in front of me ...rude, thoughtless, and absolutely annoying. We had good floor seats that we paid good money for and all I could see was the guy in front of me, his arm and his phone. All the people had there arms up and phones recording. It was sad really. I like live music for the fun and interactive experience with the band but it's all just people holding phones now.

  • Another great performance!!

by Blkunze67 on 4/19/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was perfect and Cheap Trick changes their set list from show to show!! That’s why they have been relevant for 50 years.

  • I Love CHEAP TRICK...I Love the venue. Concert was too short

    by J. H. on 4/19/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the concert would be about 3 hours but was only for 1 hour and therefore I think over $100. each for 2 tickets is over priced.

  • I LOVE CHEAP TRICK

    by J. H. on 4/19/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

Their performance was spectacular and professional...The crowd was on their feet almost all of the time. It was too short though. I paid over $100. each for 2 tickets and the concert was only 1 hr long.

  • Couldn’t see at all

  • Granddaughter’ first concert

by Paulie on 4/2/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

It was my 6 year old granddaughter’s first real concert experience. She and I had the time of our lives. Fantastic show you guys! The little one is still running around singing Surrender! We stopped by to talk to the sound guy on the way out and he handed her two of Ricks guitar picks. She was thrilled beyond belief. Thank you Cheap Trick for making a child’s first concert experience so fantastic!!

My first time seeing them and they were awesome. The atmosphere and seating was on point.

  • Dissatisfied

by Bo on 3/22/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Acoustics were lousy, way to loud for that theatre. People were all standing from the beginning to end, I sat down and the loud drunk lady spilled her beer on my lap, I go to cover band shows there often, this was the very worst by far.

  • Amazing!

by Heather on 3/22/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Loved every second of it. We even got to meet Robin and he signed our T-shirt. Very nice guy and incredible band!

  • Clock Strikes When?

by Old Foggy on 3/22/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 3 out of 5

The show was fairly good. Not the worst I've seen by folks that are far past their prime, but not the best either. Rick seemed pretty bored. Robin and Tom seemed engaged. Drummer seems pretty close to the real thing. Overall they sounded like Cheap Trick. But. . . Who starts a rock show at 7:30? Or on time, for that matter? On Saturday night? Especially if you don't have an opener? Rick started the notes to Clock Strikes Ten in their -encore- about 5 to 9. I'm pretty sure that at one point the show was set for 8:30. When I saw 7:30 on my reminder, I assumed that was "doors." Other folks I've talked to thought the same thing. I'd actually figured I'd be sitting around waiting until about 9 o'clock but instead got there about six or seven songs in. Thank Hamer I ate before I left the house or I'd have missed the whole damn thing. They did play all the hits I wanted to hear and mostly stuck to early albums and everyone (even me) had a good time. The songs are that good.

  • Always great to see Cheap Trick!

by BET on 3/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen Cheap Trick numerous times over the last 45 or so years, Arenas, out door concerts, Billy Bob’s TX(lol) and small theaters. They always provide a fun time. My only complaint with this show was that they cut it short, only playing for 1.25 hour.

  • Great evening great band

by papa on 3/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Always great to see concerts at the Tennessee Theatre

  • Cheap Trick, Great in Knoxville!

    by Jo17 on 3/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

No backup band. Just Cheap Trick! Played from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. Then came back on with encore for 2 more songs!! Seats were great, but unfortunately we had to stand the entire time (Doesn't matter how old we all were, we still stood for the entire show). They were loud but they were excellent! Robin the lead singer still has his voice and didn't miss a note! His son was also there on guitar. And Rick Nielsen still switched to a different guitar with every song and made us smile. Tom Peterson was there doing what he does best on his 12 string bass guitar. So good. And Rick's son was on drums and is extremely talented with every beat, always right on. Only one bad thing, the 1st 2 songs, the vocals were slightly over powered by the music. But it was quickly adjusted and the rest of the concert was perfect!! Ticketmaster made it so easy for entry into concert and kept us informed throughout whole time before concert. Everything went smoothly.

  • Disappointing!

by ML on 3/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 2 out of 5

It could have been a great show… great venue at the Tennessee Theater, but the sound system was way too loud. You couldn’t hear the vocals and could not even identify the songs for much of the show because of the distortion.

  • Cheap Trick. American Treasure

by Jimbo on 3/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

These are the hardest working and talented group of guys. The showmanship and attention to the crowd are the same as the early 80’s. Not to be missed if you get the chance!

  • Awesome!

by M. L. on 3/21/23North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show in a great venue!! We need more shows like this in C-town!! The band gave us exactly what we wanted….the hits along with a show that was personal!!! Well done!
