CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • Band was great.

    by McD67 on 4/28/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 4 out of 5

There needs to be center aisles in the theater. Seat rows were 50 wide, not sure how that passes fire code. People were smoking pot in the theater and staff didn’t seem to care. Quite a bit of distortion, sounded like a blown speaker. Left early, couldn’t stand the pot stink.

  • Good time had by the family!

by B-Nic on 4/26/23Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Our family lovers Brown County Music Center! What a great, intimate venue. From the concessions, merchandise area, restrooms and seating, all great. This was our second visit, first time seeing Cheap Trick, previously seeing George Thorogood and the Destroyers, we will be back for more shows. We also love the area of Brown County and Nashville. The state park is right up the road, and the town is just around the corner with plenty of offerings.

  • Great show and Venue

The band started on time and put on a great performance. First time at this venue and it was very nice!

  • Disappointed

by Dbrown on 4/22/23Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Music was good, but lead singer had to scream into mic on every song. We could not understand the words to the songs. I was hoping to have the same sound that was on the live album. This did not happen, and left half way through concert.

by TJ on 4/21/23Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Venue was nice but too small for their volume. Its was just a mess of mixed up noise. Concert was over by 8:30. They tried hard but disappointing.

Great show!!! Set list was great! So many songs I have not heard them play live before...songs from 1977-78 that you don't hear that often. I have seen them 3 times with 3 completely different set list. Always amazing!!!

  • Great Band, So-So Venue

by Marco on 4/20/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 3 out of 5

Cheap Trick is one of the all-time great Rock bands, no problem there. They showed up rocked the house and left us wanting more. At first glance it would seem to be a nice concert hall, not too big, seemed like you wouldn't be too far to get a good view of the stage from anywhere. But being in a row of seats that appeared to be cheap temporary fold-up seats, my opinion started to change. The seats were too narrow and I was squeezed between the people on either side of me. I stood most of the concert, which in itself isn't too awful, but it was out of necessity as there were some rather large people in the rows ahead of me as well, so I was always moving and craning my neck. It seemed the floor we were on was just flat all the way to the stage, no gradual incline to help those in rows farther back get a better view. It also would've been nice to have received some info ahead of time, you know maybe in one of those several emails that was sent to me, about where we were expected to park and/or what part of the building the venue was in, as it was part of a larger casino. Or maybe if even the casino itself had signs around their facility that said something like "parking for shows/concerts this way". All in all I really enjoyed Cheap Trick, but it's probably the last time I'll go see a show at MGM Northfield Park. You just get the impression that they slapped together a cheap space with a stage and added it on to their casino without much consideration for the concert-goers experience.

  • Cheap Trick at MGM Northfield

by JillS on 4/20/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show!! They never disappoint. Just couldn’t see the stage. Everyone was standing and there is no slope to the floor. Monitors helped, but are situated low, so people’s heads and walking around blocked the view. Band is the best!!!

  • Awesome

  • Cheap Trick Northfield

by JP on 4/19/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

First note is Northfield is a great venue. First class staff there. Cheap Trick blew the roof of the place. Another great show.

  • loud very loud

by davey on 4/19/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 1 out of 5

I am 76 yrs old. I have been to many rock bands. AC/DC, Grand Funk Railroad, Chicago, Guess Who and so many more. I thinks its up 200 actual bands. That is not counting cover bands. Lynryrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Steppenwolf, Eagles, Johhnny Winter, 38 Special and the list goes on. They did not play many of there hit singles. Who the hell said to raise the speakers so loud. It was co loud you could hardly here the voices. By far the worst concert ever. My first and last time. Waste of money!!

  • Cheap trick rocked as they always do.

by Kimberly on 4/19/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

The band was excellent, the people in front of me ...rude, thoughtless, and absolutely annoying. We had good floor seats that we paid good money for and all I could see was the guy in front of me, his arm and his phone. All the people had there arms up and phones recording. It was sad really. I like live music for the fun and interactive experience with the band but it's all just people holding phones now.
