About

CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

Cheap Trick was amazing as always. My ticket said obstructed but there was no obstruction at all. Had a great view of the band. Awesome venue.

Band was really great, lots of energy but not a ling show 1.5 hours only

  • Always a great show!!!!

I've seen them many times. They always mix up the set and never boring...

  • Lots of "filler" songs

by Sook Madiiq on 5/21/23NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 2 out of 5

Saw Cheap Trick open for Rod Stewart last summer and they blew there old man away. Figured it would be cool to see them do a full set: mmmmm, not so good. I realized that CT doesn't have the fan base (half empty Westbury Theater)or material to justify a full show. LOTS of drawn out "filler" songs with the hits sprinkled in between. And why are they subjecting the crowd to a bass solo by Tom Petersson?! What did we ever do to deserve that?!?

  • Sit down people

by Jm on 5/21/23NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 5 out of 5

The band was amazing as usual!!! I spent alot of money to be in the sixth row and unfortunately my whole section of people never sat in their seats. Every other section sat and enjoyed the show. I moved to less viewable seatd just to relax and enjoy the show. VERY ROOD OF PEOPLE

  • Still Rockin' after 50 years....

by Dusty Levi's on 5/21/23NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 4 out of 5

NYCB Theater at Westbury is an awesome, intimate place to see a show - not a bad seat in the house! CT was still sounding as good as ever! Rick is slowing down with his on stage antics but still funny as hell. Robin can still hit all the notes ans his son as back-up is fantastic. Only thing keeping this from a 5-star is after the show, when the band had left, the security at NYCB would not let some of us fans get one of the 75 or so guitar picks off the floor in front of the stage. Nor would they toss them to us if they didn't want us behind the barricade. It was poor on their part - Rick always tosses them out but his arm is not what it used to be. Disappointing way to end a really great 2hour performance.

  • Cheap Trick at Northfield

by Sharkie on 5/16/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 4 out of 5

This is the first time I had to stand in a long line to enter this venue, it only opened up a half hour before the show. The staff was very courteous and once it opened things flowed. The band started on time and put on a great show, though it was a little short for a rock concert.

  • Outstanding

    by B. L. on 5/3/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

This band is outstanding! I was amazed how well they can still perform at their cage. Most band of the 70s just don’t continue to perform at a high level. Well you won’t be disappointed with Cheap Trick. I would love to see them again while on tour.

  • Outstanding!

    by B. L. on 5/3/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

This band can still rock! I was truly amazed how well this band performed at their age. Most bands of the 70s who perform just don’t have it. Well Cheap Trick still has it. Would love to see them again while they are in tour.

  • Never disappointing

by Lttlesmity on 5/1/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 4 out of 5

I am a life long fan of Cheap Trick. I think Rick's guitar was a little low, sometimes hard to hear. Robin's vocals were spot on ! I could listen for hours/days. Thank you for the fun evening!

  • Aint that a shame!

by Bun E. Carlos on 4/29/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 4 out of 5

Cheap Trick can still rock! Robin Zander's voice was still strong. They played some songs that many may not have recognized off of earlier albums which was a great change from just hearing their hits all the time. The only song they didn't play that I wanted to hear was She's Tight from the One On One album in 1982.

  • Amazing!!

by Vicky on 4/29/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely amazing show! The guys never let me down! I have been a fan for 45 years! I've seen over 60 shows and they never disappoint. Still as awesome as the first show I attended back in the 80's.

  • Excellent show!

by GBS42 on 4/28/23Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Several deep cut songs near the beginning of the show and their biggest hits to close things out. Loved it!

  • Cheap Trick Concert

by Jeff on 4/28/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Cheap Trick this past Tuesday. What a fantastic concert. No opening band so they just started playing. Sounded great. Sat about five rows from the stage and what an experience. The band obviously enjoyed playing and got the crowd involved. Played all of their classics. The venue was perfect for them and they sounded great. If you get a chance to see them do it!!!

  • Still Got it!!!

by Billy K. on 4/28/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick Rocked it out with the hits that kept us grooving all night long. Rick Nielsen's performance and antics gave Cheap Trick that fun edge. In a time where more bands are using pre-recorded tracks, it's nice to have that total live experience that Cheap Trick provides.

  • Bucket List for sure

by Haygirl on 4/28/23Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 3 out of 5

I won the tickets from a local radio station. I wanted to see them in 1988 but was a poor college student and could not afford to go. This was a chance to revisit a missed opportunity. Overall getting in and out of the venue was fine. I appreciate that every show they perform is different. But they were about 1:15 into the show and had not played a "hit". I also noticed that other fans were not singing with them, so others did not know the previous songs either. They finally busted out with the "Flame" and in my opinion saved the show. The crowd became more engaged and we all sang along to the hits. The last 25 minutes made up for the previous 1:15. The sound was also distorted and over-layered. There was also a gap in the seating due to the price point of the tickets. I understand you want to squeeze as much revenue out of a show that you can, but the line where people did NOT want to pay more was very obvious.

  • Excellent show.

7th time seeing Cheap Trick. All were great shows.
