CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

  • Cheap Trick...too short

by Caprigno on 1/31/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Cheap Trick still sound awesome. However, at this venue the time was too short. They only played for an hour and fifteen minutes...quite disappointing. I believe it was because the House of Blues weekend concerts need to be over by a certain time...At least I hope that was why

  • No Tricks here, just Solid Rock 'n Roll

by Oceana on 1/31/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Last night at the House of Blues was history in the making from the moment the band came on stage to the last note of their encore...Cheap Trick dazzled with the amazing guitar and guitars of band leader, Rick Nielsen as well as his genuine showmanship. Amidst the humor, zaniness, and unabashed joy of performing, Cheap Trick sustained the pure rock 'n roll energy that they're known for. Robin Zander on lead vocals truly proved again why he is in that small handful of truly great rock singers. The back bone beat of Bun E. Carlos and the imaginative 12 string bass work of Tom Petersson also provided the steady platform of their hard driving power pop rock. Never a disappointment, Cheap Trick always delivers!

  • Cheap Trick rocked

The energy level and voices were the same as they were years ago! It was great to hear them in person.

  • Needed More

by Finestbravest on 1/31/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I looked forward to seeing this show for months. From the moment they came on the stage, feelings of when I first saw them surfaced again... just like the first time... an amazing high! ROBIN's voice is still amazing. Rick, with his guitars, did an outstanding job... he always impressed me. Bun did not miss a beat! Tom... your bass guitar is beautiful! I waited for one of my favorite songs and to my disappointment they didn't play it... I do understand why. I also felt the concert was too short and left me wanting more... So what does that say about Cheap Trick... No matter how much they deliver... they leave you wanting more! I will see them again... Thank you guys! P.S. She's tight always does it for me.... These guys have been the unsung heros for too long if your a fan I am preaching to the choir! I encourage anyone who hasn't seen them live to check out a show these guys with all of their experience rock hard! there is no "going through the motions" they deliver the goods.

  • Cheap Trick at The House of Blues

by Pete123456789 on 1/31/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

I have seen Cheap Trick many times and this show did not offer many surprises. CT did their usual job mixing in hits with some new songs and a couple of rarities but the show, only 1 hour and 15 minutes long, felt like they were just going through the motions. That being said CT just going through the motions is still better than most shows out there today. The House of Blues continues to be an interesting venue to see a show but management needs to work on some problems such as too few restrooms, trash barrels overflowing, and ridiculously high drink prices. Overall though this reviewer had a good time on a Saturday night.

  • Still rocking after all these years.

  • Cheap Trick House of Blues Boston

by Harveythedog on 1/31/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great seeing them again. They were better than ever.... Rick Neilson has come out of his shell, lots of stories, wit, and sarcasm. Just the right blend of songs new and old, great sound. Bun e looks very healthy... Looks like he lost 50pounds. Robins voice very strong, and Toms 12 string bass sounded amazing. Members of theEagles and Aerosmith there...House of Blues cool place.

  • Great Show!

by ccocco on 1/31/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Cheap Trick pulled off an amazing show at the HOB Boston! After a lackluster performance at the Comcast Center last summer, I wasn't sure how they'd be, but headlining in a hall with great acoustics and a sold out audience did the 'Trick! Robin Zander's vocals were amazing as always and they played the necessary hits to make it a great show! The set dragged momentarily when they played a string of new songs but once they segued into the hits again, they kicked ass!

  • It was 1981 all over again

by Jetbrady on 1/31/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great, great show. They sounded like they did 30 years ago. Only wish they had played longer and included "Ain't That a Shame"

  • Cheap Trick, Awesome as Always

The Cheap Trick show at Harrahs was fantasitic. They played some great new music along with several of their classic hits. These guys always put on a great show.

  • Cheap Trick still has it

by Bigweav on 1/30/10Harrah's Resort Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

The boys from Rockford still put on a great show. Robin's voice is as good as 30 years ago. they went deep into the catalog with Heaven tonight, baby loves to Rock and Voices. The Latest gave a number of good songs too including Miss Tomorrow. They could have played longer as I wasn't ready to go. Bigweav

  • Cheap Trick still rocking in NJ

by ChuckH on 1/30/10Harrah's Resort Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

It started with the lights turned down and an array of audio clips including Bart Simpson talking about Cheap Trick. A sexy female voice introduced the band as "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, please welcome the best f_____g rock band in the world". The packed house was pumped. CT plowed into their set with an older tune and never looked back. They mixed radio favorites with some songs that they haven't played in a while and kept changing tempo often which highlighted just how tight the band's live show is. Robin's voice is still incredible which I think everyone has come to expect. This doesn't mean it is any less amazing after all these years. Rick was exceptionally playful at this show. He chatted with the audience between more songs than not. He pointed out a few friends and guests in the audience including Larry David who is apparently a loyal CT devotee. When he wasn't joking with the crowd, he was making the dozen or so guitars he chose to play, scream and sing like no one else. Bun E even got into the mix when he walked over to the keyboard player to "show " him how he should have played the last song. Tom's bass guitar was dominant; Rick felt the need to introduce him to the crowd three or four times during the show. How these guys can get better with age is really amazing. They obviously enjoy what they are doing and that makes the evening a kick ass event worth catching the next time you get a chance.

  • Cheap Trick still rocks!

by SickManofMaryland on 1/30/10Harrah's Resort Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

I love this band. They are still getting it done. I still say Robin is one of the best and underrated vocalists ever! He hits the high notes, the low notes and all of them in between. Can't say that about all lead singers from the 70's. Tom is unbeliveable on the 12-string. Bun E. is still thate great signature backbeat of the band and of course Rick is still as sharp as ever with sometimes more than one guitar per song! The arena was a quaint theater like room. Great place to see a bad since no seat was really bad. Nice acoustics too. I was second row from the very back and could see their Big Eyes and hear the Voices in my head. The crowd was a bit more subdued than I am used to, but the average age looked to be over 40. But when they hit Surrender and I Want You to Want Me, everyone was rockin and a good time was had by all.

  • Cheap trick still rockin!
