CHEAP TRICK IN CONCERT:

More than four decades after their debut, hard rock titans Cheap Trick continue to possess the same energy and flair that made them an arena rock staple in the '70s. The band has enjoyed an unbroken run ever since their formation in 1973, and it's easy to see why — their chemistry on stage is undeniable, and they clearly have a blast as they treat fans to nostalgic performances of classics like "Surrender" and "The Flame." Back on the road in 2014 with fellow hard rockers Boston, Cheap Trick will bring their signature high-energy show to fans around the country on a string of highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Illinois in 1973, Cheap Trick recorded demos and toured throughout the Midwest before releasing their self-titled 1977 debut. The album failed to find an audience in the US, but it earned them a fan base in Europe and Japan, setting the stage for their future popularity stateside. While sophomore album In Color contained their highly regarded single "I Want You To Want Me," the band didn't make it onto the US charts until "Surrender" was released as the lead single of 1978's Heaven Tonight. By the early '80s the band was selling out arenas around the globe, achieving their most significant popularity in Japan, where enthusiasm over their tours reached Beatlemania-esque proportions. With more than four decades of hard-rocking live shows under their belts, Cheap Trick will bring plenty of veteran know-how with them on their upcoming tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"After 40 years of constant touring and albums, Cheap Trick still rocks! They put on an amazing show with lots of energy. They interacted with the audience and seem so accessible to the crowd."

"Real blast from the past. They haven't slowed down a bit and rocked the house."

"As always, Cheap Trick put on an awesome show. Robin Zander is the best lead singer on the planet & the playlist was great."

Great show, great sound. CT played some rarities and the addition of Faulkner and Manning made it even more special. Now bring on the Jellyfish reunion!

  • by sterling430 on 2/7/10Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Cheap Trick at the Sound Academy was by far my favourite show in a long time. Love Cheap Trick since 1978 but at this venue, I was so close in front it was like a private show. Loved hearing some of my old favourites. Bass on Auf Wiedersehen is still hot!

  • Cheap Trick rocks

  • Cheap Trick - Still the best!

by ShawnD on 2/6/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic show. First saw the band in 1980 and they have gotten better every time I have seen them. Mixed in songs from the new album with the classics. All outstanding. Robin can still hit all the notes. Rick played about 15 guitars and tossed hundreds of picks. Bun E. and Tom are a powerhouse. The fact that this band is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a complete joke. Hall of Shame in my opinion. House of Blues in Boston is a great place to see a band.

  • Cheap Trick

by Fab464 on 2/3/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Everything about the Cheap Trick concert at House of Blues (1/29/10) was fantastic. Robin Zander has as much range as Roy Orbison, but Roy could never rock the way this band does. The mystery is how a band that has rocked this hard for 35 years and is still recording great material is not in the rock n roll hall of fame. Each band member is unlike anyone else in the business. Everyone left HoB in awe of Cheap Trick. Don't miss them next time around.

  • Cheap Trick After 30 Years

by Longwait on 2/3/10Harrah's Resort Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

In 1980 Cheap Trick rolled into my upstate New York town and I think everyone (including all the teachers) in my junior high class went to the show except me. I always felt that I had missed out and getting this opportunity to see the band for the first time now 30 years later was incredible. I was worried that I had built them up too much in my mind and would be disappointed with the show, but that was not the case at all. They were wonderful! This is one concert that I would happily go see again and again without hesitation. Thanks Cheap Trick for touring, for putting on an awesome show and having reasonable ticket prices!

washed up. this band needs to call it quits. whats even worse than Zanders inability to be a good front man? How about all of those fat, ugly women/groupies who follow this band from city to city...talk about a bunch of cows--not to mention the fact that they are rude as hell.

  • Cheap Trick - sharp as ever!

by TerryB66 on 2/1/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I have a friend who insists he will not see an aging band - no matter how good they were in their most popular heyday. He believes older bands are universally sluggish and a couple steps behind their best. I don't follow his philosophy. My opinion is it's a case by case scenario, and the upside is a band with years of experience and cohesion - which will result in a great show. I believed this about Cheap Trick when I purchased these tickets, and the band surpassed my expectations. They are one of the best rock bands performing - today, nevermind years ago. The set was varied, the performance was exceptional (how does Robin maintain that voice? incredible!), and the band showed their professionalism and respect for their audience - all after having done this for decades. Having witnessed this performance, I think they could go on at this level for several years to come. Thanks for reminding us how good rock music can be guys!

  • Cheap Trick was AWESOME!!!

  • too short

by jeep1988 on 2/1/10Harrah's Resort Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 3 out of 5

Concert was great but too short. The song choices were good with some old like Come on Come on and BAby Loves to Rock. I also like the new stuff they played. I was very disappointed though in the 2 song encore. Come on guys...40 bucks...no opening band...and a 2 song (really 1 1/2) encore?

  • Cheap Trick sounded PERFECT!

by manch1 on 2/1/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

It's rare to see a band that actually sounds like the record...true, talented musicians.

  • CT still Rockin . . .

by RN1961 on 2/1/10Harrah's Resort Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Cheap Trick may have fallen out of the mainstream 30 years ago, but to me, they are still the quintessential American rock and roll band. Their performance on Friday night at Harrah's in Atlantic City was strong. The band may have aged (so have I), but they still put their hearts into it. Robin Zanders voice has, if anything, improved over the years. His range, and ability to change from warm ballads ("Voices", "The Miracle") to heavy rock ("Sick Man of Europe", "Baby Loves to Rock") is amazing. Tom and Bun E lay down a great rhythm section, and Rick is still an underappreciated master. My only regret - nothing from their debut album or their great 1997 release made it to the set list. (Its time to stop playing "The Flame".) Glad to hear that they kept things current with four tracks from The Latest. Acoustics in Harrah's Concert Venue were great, lighting was good, and the drinks were very drinkable!!

  • Cheap Trick

by Karen320 on 2/1/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The Cheap Trick concert was unbelievable. They still rock. Rob's voice is as good as ever and they were funny, entertaining and they rocked!!! The only bad thing I can say is that it wasn't long enough. I was hoping they would play for two hours but they only played for 1 1/2 hours.

  • Cheap Trick still has it!

by Rx1Warrior on 2/1/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The guys came out first with a monologue in Japanese and then had snipets of all Cheap Trick references from cartoons,tv shows,etc... They blasted out onto the set with some memorable songs of the past, songs from the new record, and a bunch from all the albums.

  • Still Rockin'

  • Cheap Trick - Unbelievable - Great!

by GiaD on 2/1/10House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I absolutely loved seening Cheap Trick in Concert. They are one of my all time favorite bands. I was really happy to finally get to see them as the featured band. Cheap Trick was personable with the audience and extremely entertaining - all you would want in a concert. Dear Leader was a pleasant surprise also - I thought they did a great job opening. It was the first time I had been to the new House of Blues in Boston - what a wonderful place to see a concert. Thank you Cheap Trick for coming back to Boston. Don't make it such a long wait next time - we love your music here in this area too!

  • Great show!
