Charlotte Hornets History
The original Charlotte Hornets franchise joined the NBA in 1988 and, thanks to players such as Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning and Kendall Gill (and later, Glen Rice, Anthony Mason and Jamal Mashburn), enjoyed substantial success in the 1990s, starting with the 1992–93 season. Owner George Shinn moved the franchise to New Orleans in 2002.
But the NBA returned to Charlotte for the 2004–05 season with the expansion Bobcats, led by owner Robert L. Johnson, the first African-American majority owner of a team in one of the four major sports. In 2010, Michael Jordan took over majority ownership of the franchise, and in 2014, Jordan's team re-adopted the Charlotte Hornets name after the previous New Orleans Hornets became the Pelicans.
During the 2017–18 season, four-time All-Star Kemba Walker became Charlotte's all-time leading scorer, surpassing original Hornet Dell Curry.

We had a great time in Charlotte at the Hornets game. Great seats and a great game.
Although the Hornets were unable to pull out a win, the game was still enjoyable. The seats were excellent, food delicious, and the atmosphere was fun.
This event was an opportunity for me to see my grandkids and daughter. Always good when we get together. Would have been even better if the Hornets won the game.
I took my son here for his 11th birthday. We had the best time! Next time I want to get floor seats to get the full experience, but our seats were great for our first time!
Smooth sailing when it came to getting into the game, finding our seats was simple! Will be back
WE HAD A GOOD TIME AT GAME. BUT, THE FOOD WAS REALLY BAD. MY SON HAD A BURGER, ALMOST UNEDITABLE....THE PRETZEL WAS ROCK HARD, NO FLAVOR. THE NACHOS WERE A CUP OF CHEESE AND BAGGED CHIP........FOOD WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED. ALSO, MY KIDS GOT DRINKS AND THE CAPS WERE TAKEN OFF THEM. MY 5 YEAR OLD WALKED UP 9 FLIGHTS TO OUR SEATS AND ALMOST SPILLED SEVREAL TIMES. WE WILL NOT BE DOING THAT AGAIN. THAT POLICY IS RIDICULOUS
My husband, my son and myself had a great time. We had great seats and half time was enjoyable.
The Hornets-Lakers game was such a fun evening. Packed arena. Lots of excitement. Big stars in town & a great Hornet effort in a close loss. I’m going again next week
Headed to the box office on game night, not open🤷♀️, had to scan a code on the glass window, downloaded my tix and headed in… good game, Hornets 🐝 were hitting a lot of 3-pointers, but was there for the ‘halftime’ performance of Shelby J.
Great game! Good venue! It was our 1st time to the Queen City. We wanted to experience a local game. We had a lot of fun!!! Go Hornets!!!! Buzzzzzzzz! 😂 The only things that needs improvement are: safety railings in the upper sections (do not attempt if you have any type of vertigo or dizzy spells... seriously), more food venues, and more staffing. The staff we did encounter were awesome!!! Thank y'all for a great day!!!
The game was awesome both teams played their best. We are Dallas Maverick fans, but the Charlotte Hornets pulled it off with the win.
I went to the MLK Hornets game. So much fun. So much excitement, crowd support, and enthusiasm. And best of all it was an exciting WIN! Hope the team can string together some nice wins going forward---they will have great fan support.
Awesome game had a wonderful time 👌🏾👍🏾 I will definitely return
The game was at a point was exciting. The spectrum center was wonderful and nearby parking was great. A very short walk to the center
Bought tickets to Charlotte Hornets game last minute and the entire process was incredibly smooth. The entire staff at the Spectrum Center were genuinely friendly and helpful and they gave my family and I terrific service. I highly recommend the Ticketmaster app and the Spectrum Center
I love this arena. Very large with plenty of room in the concourses. Great site lines. The fact that it was an exciting game was a bonus.
Every Hornets game is a fun experience. Lots of entertainment & action in addition to the basketball. The team is competing well & if the injured players get back -they will be tough.
The Spectrum Arena and the the Charlotte Hornets game was a great game day experience from the festive atmosphere, the convenient location, the clean Arena and the friendly and courteous staff plus the food selection and prices contributed to a wonderful night.
Our seats were great & our experience was wonderful!
Great way to bring in my birthday. The ICC package was superb and I got a whole new experience to one of my favorite sports!
