Charlotte Hornets History
The original Charlotte Hornets franchise joined the NBA in 1988 and, thanks to players such as Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning and Kendall Gill (and later, Glen Rice, Anthony Mason and Jamal Mashburn), enjoyed substantial success in the 1990s, starting with the 1992–93 season. Owner George Shinn moved the franchise to New Orleans in 2002.
But the NBA returned to Charlotte for the 2004–05 season with the expansion Bobcats, led by owner Robert L. Johnson, the first African-American majority owner of a team in one of the four major sports. In 2010, Michael Jordan took over majority ownership of the franchise, and in 2014, Jordan's team re-adopted the Charlotte Hornets name after the previous New Orleans Hornets became the Pelicans.
During the 2017–18 season, four-time All-Star Kemba Walker became Charlotte's all-time leading scorer, surpassing original Hornet Dell Curry.

First Hornets game and it was awesome. Went with my boyfriend and would love to go again!
Playing music during the game is cheeseball. Won’t be returning for another game.
It was unforgivable for my family. Hornets won and we were excited. We will watch and cheer again.
We scored 4 tickets with a surprisingly great view of the game. The price was great for that area and row. Will definitely seek out these seats again.
The staff was great! I was very disappointed in most the players, my son and 2 other young boys were VIP and stood at the walk way most of the game trying to get autographs, the players totally ignored them.
Best seats in the arena. Great view of the game. Usher very polite, yet enthusiastic at the game
Me and my kids had a awesome time! Great seats food was good and hot
First NBA game ever- great seats & a pretty seamless experience from parking to leaving!
The entry was quick, the game was good. The seats were good for way up at the top. You could see everything. I just wish we would have known about the purse size restriction. Where do you look to find out abou those things? I had to run about six blocks to put the purse back into the car.
Everything was awesome and is for my family first time going to a sports event, definitely will be doing this again
I enjoyed the smaller feel of the venue. I enjoyed all the activities going on throughout the game. I love the proximity of the hotels.
My husband and I really enjoyed our time at the game on Saturday night. The staff at the Spectrum center was very friendly. It was an organized event and the line went quickly when we entered the Spectrum Center. I just have one complaint which is that the food at the concession stand was quite expensive. Therefore, we decided not to buy any snacks or drinks. We really enjoyed the time outs videos on the large screens above the court! In addition, we enjoyed the fun music played throughout the basketball game!!!!!! We are both from Minnesota and were so happy that the Timberwolves beat the Hornets 123 - 117! Sorry Hornets fans!
I was in the prefect sits. The fans showed and showed out. The entertainment was great!!
Enjoyed the game. Hornets came back and won the game. How exciting!
OMG, I had a ball!! Tho I arrived late getting in was smooth with no issues. Once I was in the directions to get to my seat was simple and there was even an usher who helped me location the exact spot. The section included access to the Crown Club and the experience was amazing. Even the staff were polite and friendly which made the experience 10 times more enjoyable. To top off such a great experience the Hornets won after going into overtime! I will be back soon.
Our experience was amazing. Thanks to Laura, from the Flight Deck. She made the experience worth wild and seamless. I knew, it was amazing when my 7 year old son said, "Thank you Mommy, you're the best."Can't wait to attend another game.
Was so nice to see our home team play even though we moved away. Never have been to an NBA game before and the experience was second to none. Amazingly cheap seats at $19.50 a seat and we all had a blast. I did get charged $30 extra on top of seat prices with no explanation as to why but still we had an incredible time
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. 25 dollars for tickets with a great view, comfyish seats, and a fantastic game of the year candidate with the come from behind OT win against the celtics where melo had 36 and miles bridges iced the game🎯
Pretty good experience. Uptown CLT is pretty. Easy to find parking. It was a short walk to the arena. The arena was very nice. Very easy to find your seat. My upper deck seat wasn't bad. You can take an escalator to get to the upper deck. They have a nice sporting goods store. You have to go at least one time for the experience.
