About

Cardi B In Concert

When Cardi B steps onstage, her presence is felt. It's in the army of dancers that flank her. It's in the chest-rattling bass that booms through the speakers. It's in her colorful nails, unfurling hair extensions, and sparkly couture. But more than anything, it's in her infectious personality, which emerges through fierce rhymes, lyrics that run heartfelt to hilarious, and filter-free banter that somehow paints her as both an icon of swagger, and a "regular degular shmegular girl from the Bronx," as she once put it. Starting with her runaway 2017 hit "Bodak Yellow" — the first rap song by a solo female artist to hit No. 1 in 20 years — Cardi B has been breaking records and collecting praise nonstop. She's done it as a guest on massive singles by Bruno Mars, G-Eazy, and Maroon 5, but more often on her own. Her 2018 debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy,' smashed a handful of glass ceilings in sales – making Cardi the first woman to win Best Rap Album at the Grammys, and spawning an international hit in the bilingual "I Like It." To call Cardi B a trendsetter or star doesn't do her justice. She's a force of nature.

Cardi B Background

Cardi B's background is just as important to her story as her successes. Her multicultural heritage, pronounced New Yawk accent, take-me-as-I-am attitude, and wealth of experience as a woman struggling to win against long odds are all essential elements of the personality that blares from her songs and shows. She was born in the Bronx to a Dominican dad and an Afro-Trinidadian mom. Money didn't flow, but music did. Young Cardi listened to innovative rap stylers like Missy Elliott alongside hardcore no-frills rhymers like Trina. But her own entry to music came after a few detours — she proudly owns her past as a stripper, and parlayed her fame as a viral Vine personality into a role on ‘Love & Hip Hop: New York.' But she wisely left reality TV to pursue music in 2016. After a couple of mildly buzzing mixtapes (the ‘Gangsta Bitch Music' series), she hit it big with "Bodak Yellow," a swaggering trap anthem that would be certified seven-times platinum by the end of 2018. That year skyrocketed Cardi onto tons of magazine covers, into collaborating with huge stars like Jennifer Lopez, appearing on ‘Saturday Night Live,' releasing her universally beloved first album, and breaking countless records both commercial and critical.

    Great but also disappointing

    by KA85 on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

I got in line at 8pm for the concert and I was close to the front door. Doors didn’t open up until 9:30pm and when they opened they only let guys in first. Cardi didn’t come on until 1:30AM and it was over by 2AM.

    by Deejay2876 on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

She performed for 20 min. The dj continuously said she's in the building. Then we she was about to step on stage he says she just stepped in thr building. People began to leave 30 minutes before she performed.

    It was ok

    by lala97 on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

I had the highest expectations when I bought her ticket, and I was excited it was at Echostage because I was familiar with the venue. First waited in line for about an hour and a half to get in (yes the line was that long) waited another hour and a half for her to perform which ended up being 1:30am she performed for about 20 minutes with a total of 5 songs and that was it. Definitely not worth the wait or money but still a cardi fan. Overall I rated this a two because the only good thing was actually seeing her.

    Can’t get back my time!

by Anonymous on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

I can’t get back 3 hours of my life with waiting for her. I left around 1230 am and she still haven’t performed. I feel this is really bad business. If doors open at 9pm, then she should be on stage by 11pm. Glad the tickets were cheap

    Cardi-NO

    by Toulaye88 on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

The event staff are aggressive and rude. Cardi B is unprofessional AF for showing up at 1:30AM. The entire experience was not worth it. Won’t be going there again.

    Cardi did well. BUT...

by Alake on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

Cardi B did very well. But several acts before her were horrible, and even booed off of the stage. XL Da Truth was good. The wait time for Cardi was horrible. We were let in at 9:10pm. But she didn't perform until about 1:20am. Nowhere to sit. It was just very bad. Apparently her contract said she is to perform at 1am. But then why have everyone in so early. People were very mad.

    Waste of time

by Martinezsarah on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

She didn’t come out until 1:30 and the event started at 9:00 pm! And then only performed about 4/5 songs and left.

    Didn’t see Cardi B!

    by Poohb757 on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

Cardi B did not hit the stage until sometime after 1:15 a.m. I know this because that’s about the time when I gave up waiting for her performance.

    Maybe performed 2.5 songs

by Anonymous on 7/3/17B.B. King Blues Club & Grill - New York

Doors and showtime were both 11:00 pm. We arrived a bit late on purpose and there was a line out the door. Once inside, a DJ was performing next to a group of random people on stage. The DJ kept talking over his own music (similar to the radio station 97.1 FM). Next, another DJ came on and even more people went on stage, basically filling the stage. I guess this was to feel cool for when Cardi B eventually came on and get good pictures? Cardi B eventually came on around 2:30 am. In the middle of her first song, the DJ cut the song short, maybe by accident because she seemed surprised. The stage was really packed at this point, somehow more than before. After another 2 songs, Cardi B disappeared from the stage. I didn't even realize she was done because there was no announcement or anything that she left. Very weird and disappointing show.
