About

Cardi B In Concert

When Cardi B steps onstage, her presence is felt. It's in the army of dancers that flank her. It's in the chest-rattling bass that booms through the speakers. It's in her colorful nails, unfurling hair extensions, and sparkly couture. But more than anything, it's in her infectious personality, which emerges through fierce rhymes, lyrics that run heartfelt to hilarious, and filter-free banter that somehow paints her as both an icon of swagger, and a "regular degular shmegular girl from the Bronx," as she once put it. Starting with her runaway 2017 hit "Bodak Yellow" — the first rap song by a solo female artist to hit No. 1 in 20 years — Cardi B has been breaking records and collecting praise nonstop. She's done it as a guest on massive singles by Bruno Mars, G-Eazy, and Maroon 5, but more often on her own. Her 2018 debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy,' smashed a handful of glass ceilings in sales – making Cardi the first woman to win Best Rap Album at the Grammys, and spawning an international hit in the bilingual "I Like It." To call Cardi B a trendsetter or star doesn't do her justice. She's a force of nature.

Cardi B Background

Cardi B's background is just as important to her story as her successes. Her multicultural heritage, pronounced New Yawk accent, take-me-as-I-am attitude, and wealth of experience as a woman struggling to win against long odds are all essential elements of the personality that blares from her songs and shows. She was born in the Bronx to a Dominican dad and an Afro-Trinidadian mom. Money didn't flow, but music did. Young Cardi listened to innovative rap stylers like Missy Elliott alongside hardcore no-frills rhymers like Trina. But her own entry to music came after a few detours — she proudly owns her past as a stripper, and parlayed her fame as a viral Vine personality into a role on ‘Love & Hip Hop: New York.' But she wisely left reality TV to pursue music in 2016. After a couple of mildly buzzing mixtapes (the ‘Gangsta Bitch Music' series), she hit it big with "Bodak Yellow," a swaggering trap anthem that would be certified seven-times platinum by the end of 2018. That year skyrocketed Cardi onto tons of magazine covers, into collaborating with huge stars like Jennifer Lopez, appearing on ‘Saturday Night Live,' releasing her universally beloved first album, and breaking countless records both commercial and critical.

    Terrible concert

by Anonymous on 10/25/17Echostage - Washington

Cardi B did not show up until 1:45AM. By that time, I had already left. It was a Thursday night, and I had work in the morning. The doors opened at 9; there is no excuse for her not showing up until nearly 2AM. I wasted my time and money. I wish I could take back this night.

    I was let down

by MoneyMae on 10/24/17Echostage - Washington

Love Cardi, so when I saw $30 tickets I knew I was going. Doors opened at 9. Expected the concert to start at least before midnight. Cardi did not arrive until 1:30AM, with no updates from the venue or DJ. She arrived and performed for 17-20 minutes. Instead of a show, it was more like a club performance. Cardi has since stated that her contract requested her on stage at 1AM. I would highly suggest opening doors at 10/11PM then instead. Similarly, if the show will only be 17-20 minutes, make it earlier especially on a weeknight.

    Unprofessional

by Anonymous on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

The event started at 9 and Cardi did not come on stage until 1:30, at which point she said she was sick, gave a subpar performance of 4 or 5 of her popular songs, then left. The 15 minute set was not worth $45 after people had been waiting for hours and I won't be paying to see her again as a headliner.

cardi B at echo stage was TERRIBLE

by WaistedMYTimw on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

Echo stage had us wait 1 hour 30 minutes in line before entering. The LINe was around the block. Once in the venue it was not crowded. Which was at 11:50 pm then waited until 1 Am still no cardi. Then every got on instagram and notice at 1 am she still had rollers in her and doing makeup what look like a hotel. But the dj kept saying she was in the back! I have to leave like other concert goesers. WORST Experience! Never again!!!!!!!

Waiting for hours for only 5 songs....

by LilBeee on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

Lost my respect for her. Understood she was sick but to make us wait hours to only “sing” five songs....truly disappointed because was my go to girl to hype me up except no one really felt that hyped up. She lip sang almost all five songs which sucked, you couldn’t hear her emotions and expressions she put in her songs. Wouldn’t go to another one of her shows unfortunately :/

    Event was terrible

by Cparty on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

The security failed to do their job, Cardi didn't show up until the last 30 of the event and only performed for like 20. Drunk we're weak but expensive and the event started 2 hours late

Worst concert experience of my life

by Cardilover on 10/22/17Echostage - Washington

First, we had to wait an hour and a half in line. I’m talking at least half a mile from the venue. Then we finally got in around 11:30 after arriving at Echostage at 10:00pm, feet and ankles aching, pushed our way towards the middle to front. Then we proceeded to wait hours. And hours. And hours. Listening to music that I could happily listen to on Spotify in my comfortable home where I’m not being pushed and having drinks spilled on me by everyone around me, as well as getting my feet stepped on by heels whenever a huge fight broke out (there were at least two). Cardi finally came on at 1:40. So many phones in the air, no matter how close I was to the stage, I still couldn’t see her. She sang about 4 or 5 songs, and left. Without saying goodbye or thank you. My back was killing me by the time she came on and I didn’t even care to see her at that point and I am a huge fan of hers. Thanks echostage and her crew for an absolutely awful experience and night for everyone inside. I’ve been to make concerts and this was by far the worst.

Doors opened at 9, she didn’t come out until almost 2am then only performed 4-5 of her own songs. Super crowded, lots of fights, I was patted down twice but was standing next to ppl smoking weed anyway. The streets were blocked off and it was so congested Uber’s couldn’t reach their customers. A terrible experience.
