Great venue but the show wasn’t too good.

by Tony Nicholson on 4/10/23The Observatory North Park - San Diego

The facility was nice but the rave really wasn’t that good . DJ didn’t interact with the crown.

    Perfect for what it was

by Ky on 4/10/23The Observatory North Park - San Diego

If you’re comparing this to a regular concert, it wouldn’t meet quality/crowd standards. HOWEVER, for a musical rave it was perfect. The crowd was big enough that it didn’t feel empty, but enough space to dance, sing, and run onstage if you wanted to. Everyone was nice and the vibes were great.

    Disappointed

by Disappointed Broadway lover on 4/10/23State Theatre - Portland

The sound quality was so bad that some of the songs were indistinguishable. It is such a great concept, but my party of four left early due to the poor sound quality. It was far too loud and the bass and treble were too high.

Just ok, could have been better

by AshesF on 4/4/23House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

The dj/performer was very energetic. However, he kept having to go back to his computer to readjust. It could have been so much better if the video was synced up with the music and showed clips of the production. A good variety of music was played, but I wish lyrics/musical was on video to sing along. The venue was the best part.

    Perfect for Thespians

by emelmc on 4/3/23House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

Great for Theater lovers. Loved how into it the crowd and DJ were. Hope this kind of event happens again in the future.

    Amazing

by Freak on 3/28/23The Underground - Charlotte

This was an amazing event however, it was not really publicized, and it could’ve been bigger if it was more publicized in the area.

    Not worth the $$

    by GR on 3/28/23

While we made the best of it, there were several issues we had. First was paying for the 'VIP' tickets. Coat check was free, but that was the only real benefit. The VIP seating area was full when we arrived and that was about it. I hope the DJ was a sub for the night, as she did not know popular songs. There was a 20-minute loop of Broadway GIFs on the screen that went the whole night--not great at all. Would have loved if the lyrics were up there, karaoke-style. Finally, for the second half, the DJ was taking way too many requests and the requests were all exposition! We did not need to see theatre kids acting out intro songs (most at least 8 min. long) that no one could dance too. After 4 in a row, we hit the road. As extreme Broadway/showtune fans, we were hoping for some actual 'deep cuts' as advertised, but it was overwhelmingly Rent and Hamilton.

    Broadway Rave Review

by SK on 3/27/23The Underground - Charlotte

This event was originally an earlier date which was post-poned only 3 hours prior to the event. It was frustrating because we had a whole group dressed up and ready to celebrate our friends birthday. Once it was re-scheduled, a lot of people got re-funds which 100% made the attendance rate for this event not high at all. The venue was too big for the amount of people that showed up. The worst part of the event was the DJ didn't know anything about theatre and admitted to it. Instead of the DJ leading this rave, he had random rave attendees get up on stage and lead the songs. It was great when the people on stage new the words and had a performance energy to them, but it was awful when it was just a bunch of drunk people up there who wanted to be on stage and didn't know the show or the song they were performing. This event was disappointing and I hope in the future the DJ will at least have more knowledge about the event theme they are leading.

    Great Venue, mediocre "artist"

by Will on 3/27/23The Underground - Charlotte

"Broadway Rave" was literally a dude with a laptop standing on stage and taking requests from the audience for two hours while a few folks lip-synced (unrehearsed) next to him on stage. This was not a rave, and I think the promotional material really oversold the experience.

    Super fun!

by ECorganist on 3/27/23The Masquerade - Hell - Atlanta

The whole event was super fun! Only thing that would have made it better is if it was better attended. I blame Ticketmaster for this. Ticketmaster claimed tickets were sold out about 2 weeks before the event, then opened up more tickets about a week before. I kept checking back and got tickets when they opened up, but I'm sure a lot of people who would have gone didn't get tickets because Ticketmaster claimed they were sold out.

    More fun than I expected

by Cdnl on 3/27/23The Masquerade - Hell - Atlanta

This was so much fun! All the best hits from all the best musicals! I loved the request process and all the songs I wanted to hear/requested were played! 10/10 would go Arian

The crowd was the true show

    by Dan on 3/16/23Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

The musical selection was quite strange, as many of the big Broadway hits were not played, instead opting for a more random song selection. The DJ clearly wasn’t actually choosing the songs and didn’t know any of the words and was on her phone most of the show. The only redeeming factor was the crowd themselves that put on quite the show when allowed on stage and sang their heart out.

So fun! Not completely Broadway though...

by Abby on 3/6/23House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

The event was a great time, & I would definitely go again if I can! My only frustration is that a lot of movie casts were played instead of the original Broadway casts, so it felt like feux Broadway. There were even some high school musical songs thrown in there, & those aren't even on Broadway. Maybe I'm just a purist, but I came for Broadway, & I was disappointed when I didn't have it.

First iteration was better but still an enjoyable experience

by CB on 2/27/23House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

This was the second time that Broadway Rave came to Chicago -- last time was in January. I attended both and was super pumped that the venue was upgraded to House of Blues for this second rave. The venue was great but the DJ and "host" were lacking this time around. The energy of the crowd was still pretty hype because we were all there for the same reason -- belting showtunes at the top of our lungs. But there was much left to be desired in the presentation. Firstly, the DJ of the first rave acted as the host as well, and was very engaged with the crowd and mixed the songs together well. This DJ didn't talk at all and on multiple occasions, let a song end with dead air for a few seconds before starting another one -- not exactly a professional DJ set. The host was okay but didn't seem to know most of the songs (not a huge deal but why hire someone who isn't a Broadway stan?) and didn't seem to control what was going on onstage. Additionally, we had a guest appearance, which was great, but she "performed" something like nine songs and frankly, overstayed her welcome. 3-5 songs would have been sufficient; we weren't there to see her or a lip-synced concert. She and her boyfriend then stayed onstage and continued to pull focus from the ravers who went onstage to perform their favorite songs. Again, she was great, but the energy dipped around halfway through her set so there needed to be a more balanced plan. Which brings me to the set list -- obviously this is hugely subjective and everyone will have their own take. Generally speaking, it was fine but was not nearly as varied as the first iteration in January. Everyone around me was complaining that they used the QR code to request songs but they weren't being played. It felt very much like there was a pre-planned list and for the most part, we stuck to it regardless of what the crowd wanted. Just another hint that the DJ might not have been as experienced as the gent at the first event. All in all, I would still recommend Broadways lovers explore this event if it happens near them, but be warned that your experience will vary depending on the DJ.

    Disappointing

by M on 2/27/23House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Same 10 shows played over and over again, brought up a tik tok person who 75% of people didn’t know, a lot of weird music drops, videos looked like they looked up “Broadway gifs” and played the first 20 on repeat the entire time- terrible quality
