    Ghost - The Musical

by silver69 on 2/12/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I guess I was expecting more! The music was WAY TOO loud, the main character's voices were just OK. The Best part, for me, was the person playing Whoopi Goldberg's role. She was as close to Whoopi as we could get. She was Excellent.

Until last Sunday, I've never, EVER walked out during the middle of a show - Ghost was so bad that we left at intermission. Overkill use of video technology (distracting, really), lyrics and choreography that did nothing to advance the plot of the show or the emotional plight of its characters, and a leading man/lady that were both off key. I understand that the show has now moved to the Bass Hall - buyer, beware.

    Ghost

by Alontak on 2/12/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Had I not had earplugs, I would have had to leave. The sound was so loud that sometime you could not even hear the performers. Otherwise, they did a great job of getting the story across. The set changes were creative and the musical moved along quickly...never boring. I had a friend with me who had not seen the movie. I gave her a quick overview before the musical and she later said that had I not done so she might have had a difficult time trying to figure out what was going on. I felt it failed to capture the romance or the spiritual quality of the movie. I did enjoy it and it was well worth going to.

Actors were excellent, special effects were impressive. The sound effects and music, however, were way too loud for the venue and many times overshadowed the singing and dialogue.

    The show was good

by ChasG on 2/11/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

We mostly enjoyed the show. But at times it was literally painful. They did a lot of very cool special effects. However, when they needed to do a quick set change (I won't go into details so I don't ruin the show for anyone) they would BLIND the audience with a sometimes not so short flash of light... like directly in your eyes. Well going from a darkened theater to a bright white stage light in your face just isn't "fun". I "get" they were trying for a bit of on stage magic in swapping things out. But I would have preferred less magic if it meant me not having to see "spots" for the next 20mins. BUT the show was really good. If you are a fan of the movie you should go see it. Just be ready for the lights in the face thing. Maybe wear sunglasses?

    Ghost

by KayMc70 on 2/11/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

It is the only musical that we have ever left early. It left a lot to be desired. We loved the movie but the musical version wasn't anything I can recommend

Great special effects! Enjoyed the stage design & musical numbers from some of the performers. Thought the Oda Mae character did a great job!

    Excellent Singing

by Anonymous on 2/11/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

The script closely followed the movie, so their were no suprises. The singing was excellent, and the sound was explosive.

    Oda Mae stole the show!

by DJ71 on 2/11/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

We were a little disappointed with the lead vocals but still enjoyed the story as a whole. Oda Mae, her sisters, & the "Subway Ghost" seemed to be the strongest & most memorable characters, however. I wish Oda Mae was in more scenes as she had a powerhouse voice, excellent acting & a sense of humor that had the audience reeling with laughter.

    Ghost...Awesome

by smny on 2/11/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

We both have never been to a musical and were blown away. It looked like a movie with all the semi-transparent screens and special effects. Touched on all the key parts of the movie and loved Woopie's character a lot...very funny.

    Ghost- The Musical

by Kiddsworgen on 2/10/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

It was a good musical and followed the movie well. The only thing that I didnt like was it was a bit loud and the light was literally blinding at some points. The did Unchanted Melody in a unique way so you need to be open to other ways to hear the song or you will not like it. Overall the songs were good and the cast was great

Ghost - Prepare for a headache

by melintexas on 2/10/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

My daughter and I do not get to attend too many musicals due to the cost and coordination with our schedules. She was really looking forward to Ghost. The simple scenes with dialogue were good. The rest was a mess of noise, flashing, and terrible dancing. By the end, we both had a headache and were very disappointed. I think the story has potential, but what the creator did here was just awful. We won't be wasting money on this one again.

    Ghost was a miss

by Musicalhrt on 2/10/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

I was overall not too thrilled with the musical Ghost. I enjoyed most the illusions and the performances of the psychic and evil friend. There was too much language thrown into this screenplay and the musical numbers were forgettable and trite. I was hoping for a musical on the scale of Wicked and came away disappointed.

    Ghost was Greatness!

DSM Ghost stayed true to the film, and added more for the stage. It was visually stunning, with great performances by the cast.

    Ghost forgettable...I hope

by Jycamp on 2/9/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Our seats provided us with limited viewing due to stage set up. This was not disclosed when purchasing them. The two leading actors were missing emotion and the body language expected. They were cheesy. They were amateur and did not live up to Broadway's expected acting. They sang worse than they acted. It seemed as if we were listening to bad karaoke. I was very disappointed and have always enjoyed the musicals and performances at Music Hall. This was the first musical that I did not enjoy. The special effects were good but the two leading actors were not impressive, at all.

    Ghost was not very GOOD!

Didn't care for it. It was the worst show I have ever seen at the Music Hall.

Special effects for play were great. Overall it was well done. Only complaint is that they had the volume for mikes set to high. It was very loud and didn't need to be. As a result had trouble understanding words of songs.

    Use of technology was stellar

by KSLindaLucy on 2/8/14Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Ghost was much more than what I had expected. The effects were fabulous. Such trickery that left one wondering just how they did that! The cast was very very talented. We were thoroughly entertained .
