Great concert but disrespectful fans spoiled the experience.
by Floyd M on 8/31/25Maine Savings Amphitheater - BangorRating: 4 out of 5The music was great. I enjoyed Jimmie Vaughn's R&B and Bonnie Raitt's blues and rock. Bonnie's voice is still marvelous and her slide playing, still superb. Jimmie is a wonderful performer, entertainer and musician. Both of their bands were were tight. And it was wonderful when they joined forces at the end of an extended encore. However, this was the second concert I in a row I've attended at the Bangor Waterfront Amphitheater hen people in the seats in front of me stood, danced and blocked my view of the stage for almost the entire show. This behavior is rude, disrespectful, and spoiled the overall experience for people directly behind them. When I spoke to them at this show, politely asking them to use their seats, they said "we paid for these seats and we'll stand we they want to."I paid a lot for my tickets, too; to be close enough to see without having to watch people dance right in front of me and have use the jumbo screens to watch the concert - but that is what I had to do. Sure I could have stood but I preferred to sit and didn't want block even more people's view. As I mentioned, this is the second time this has happened to me at a concert in this venue. These experiences are likely to dissuade me from spending money for concerts there in the future. I know it's not possible to force people to behave and be considerate. And of course it is expected people will stand to applaud at times but to stand for long periods blocking other people's view is unconscionable and should not be tolerated. Something ought to be done to discourage that behavior. At least put up signs similar to the ones discouraging smoking and vaping. and mention it in the pre-show announcements along with requesting no photography. That might at least discourage the thoughtful and considerate people from blocking people's view. Perhaps there should be a standing & dancing section for people who want to enjoy concerts that way without disrupting to show for others.
